Director Alex Jackson

This has been a landmark year for the Honiton Pantomime, and I would like to thank everyone involved for putting in so much effort and commitment to putting on Sleeping Beauty at the Beehive. Everything you see on stage (and indeed the stage itself) is either made by us from scratch or designed, ordered and built by the team behind the show. I’d like to thank all the volunteers at The Beehive but particularly Martin for the many hours he’s put into the technical side of the show and construction of the stage. We have also welcomed many new members this year especially to the principal cast which is great! As always, rehearsals have been full of drama and laughter (both on stage and off) but I am pleased to say that we have made it through admirably and I have to thank everyone for their professionalism and commitment. Now, about the show. We chose the script for Sleeping Beauty last summer, it was Chairperson originally written and directed at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter Barbara Simmonds by their (then) creative director Ben Crocker, Ben has been brilliant in accommodating our needs- we even had to add two extra cats Vice Chairperson because our prospective cast were just too talented! I’m immensly Shaun Bonetta proud of each and every person on the stage, as always the way they have changed, improved and added so much to the show (not just the ad-libbing) is such a joy to see. I’d like to thank them for a Treasurer hilarious 6 months and if you enjoy the show please do tell your Richard Maddox friends and family.

Welcome to our annual Pantomime, Barbara Simmonds this year at The Beehive. The young and enthusiastic cast have been whipped into shape by Alex, our brilliant director, with music and singing coached by Ian Crew. You are in for an excellent performance and we are excited to be performing at this wonderful venue for the first time. Although many of the older faces might not be appearing on stage this pantomime, we are still in operation back stage as we all enjoy the family atmosphere of this our Pantomime Society. This year we are producing ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ on 31st July and 1st August. We will be looking for talent to join the cast, for this exciting venture, the open evening will be on 17th March. We will still be having fun putting on ‘The End of the Pier Show’ but as a Christmas special edition with lots of tinsel and mince pies! But all you can do now is sit back and enjoy our Sleeping Beauty, make this a pantomime to remember by giving lots of booing and cheering.

We are very grateful to have such generous help! And of course, you! Without your patronage, we would be unable to continue having such good fun! We would also like to thank the volunteers at The Beehive and everyone who has given so much time and commitment to bringing the Honiton Pantomime to the Beehive. We appreciate your help more than you may know!

About Us Honiton Pantomime Society is a friendly group who perform a pantomime in February and other shows throughout the year. For the past few years we have performed ‘The End of the Pier’ (EOP) every summer. We have a membership of around 70 people, all of whom are keen to help in different aspects of the productions including on stage, back stage, making scenery, costumes and props, organising sound, lighting, make-up and the front of house. We always look for new people to join us and are always keen for fresh faces to make friends with. In order to ensure everyone has equal opportunity for a part auditions are held for every new show. The chorus is available to everyone and is a great way to get stuck in. Our directors are usually found from within the members, and all have had fabulous times producing wonderful shows. As well as our shows each year, we like to keep ourselves involved in the community, aiding many of the local charities and staging a few fun nights each year (Pub Quizzes, New Year’s Parties, etc...).
