*-Players not competing in Championship ** Tie breakers are determined by the routine described in Section 9 of the USGA Handicap System Manual. Under this method, the program compares scores for the last nine holes, then the last six holes, then the last three holes, then finally the last hole to determine the winner.

What’s happening in the clubhouse.... The SWD’s Board will hold a business meeting next Wednesday to finalize plans for next year and to discuss other issues. What do you think about how this year has gone? Do you have any suggestions to offer for consideration? If so, please contact any member of the board with your thoughts before the meeting. Your input is valued! This year’s championship rounds were played on two fine courses this year – don’t you think? Can’t refer to Jina Arellano as a “rookie” this year! Last October with the lead after the first round of the championship, she lost a little steam in the second. She must have learned what it takes because her strong showing in the second round of this year’s championship powered her to a two stroke victory! Did you know of our “club” nuptials? Adrienne (daughter of Barry and May Lin Lee) and Leng Ung were married on September 19th. They make their home in West Sacramento. Leng and Adrienne, we wish the very best to you! Lost in the flow of champagne, but winners too were our runner-up finishers this year. Kevin Tam (A), Clinton Pon (B), and Dawn Satow (W) all had fine final rounds at Teal to finish strong. They may not have a trophy and $100, but they’ll take their $50 second place winnings with a smile thank you very much! Kent Hirose and Felix Wada represented SWDGC in an NCGA Senior Men’s 4ball event in September. They failed to advance. According to Kent – “Too much ham, not enough egg....” Don’t forget our upcoming Turkey Tourney Saturday, Nov 14th at the Reserve at Spanos Park (Stockton). The format is foursomes - two best balls. See the attached flyer for details. Gotta nag a little bit folks... too many deep ball marks were noticed at Teal. Take a minute on the greens and fix not only your own ball mark, but others you see. Makes the game more enjoyable for everyone! It’s just good golf etiquette! 4

Lamaze The room was full of pregnant women and their partners, and the Lamaze class was in full swing. The instructor was teaching the women how to breathe properly, along with informing the men how to give the necessary assurances at this stage of the plan. The teacher then announced, "Ladies, exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. And, gentlemen, it wouldn't hurt you to take the time to go walking with your partner!" The room really got quiet. Finally, a man in the middle of the group raised his hand. "Yes?" replied the teacher... "Is it all right if she carries a golf bag while we walk?"

Marriage (overheard in September?) A man is getting married, and is standing by his bride at the church. Standing by him is his golf clubs and bag. His bride whispers: "What are your golf clubs doing here?" And the man said "This is not going to take all day is it?"

Want a challenge sometime? This is my son Austin teeing off several years ago when he and I played Tobacco Road GC in the Pinehurst NC region. Brutal course ranked in top 10 hardest in the U.S.
