How to read SNUFFER Model Numbers: The first four digits in a Snuffer model number refer to the maximum gallons (US) per minute (g.p.m.) of water that the model is rated for. The last three digits refer to the cubic feet per minute (c.f.m.) of air that the unit is rated for. The first four digits in “Upgrade” model numbers are “0000.” These units do not have water pumps; they are added to trucks with existing pumps.

Why Compressed Air Foam? Compressed Air Foam Systems (C.A.F.S.) have been around since World War Two, when they were used in naval fire fighting. The early systems were useful but not all that successful due to limitations in existing technology. By the 1980's technology had advanced to the point that C.A.F.S. could begin to be used reliably and more safely. It quickly proved its worth in fighting forest fires and has since spread into all kinds of fire fighting. Properly used, C.A.F.S. can provide several very useful attributes for fire fighting. 1. Less Water Use - a C.A.F. system will use significantly less water than normal methods or aspirated foam. This will result in less damage to the structure and less run off. 2. Fire Retardant Features - C.A.F. can cling to vertical and overhead surfaces and provide fire protection 3. Less Environmental Impact - Less water is used so run off with any hazardous chemicals is minimized. 4. Easily and Speedily Deployable - a C.A.F. unit can be speedily deployed, even on a rescue truck, allowing more rapid response to fires. 5. Enhanced Fire Fighting for Difficult Fires - C.A.F. has consistently provided superior results when used on 'difficult' fires (i.e. rubber tires, creosote wood, kitchen). 6. Reduced Surface Tension - Compressed Air Foam significantly reduces surface tension in water, providing greater control and enhanced fire fighting efficiency.

The Snuffer Story Snuffer got its start at the request of Canadian government. Responsible agencies were looking for a easily deployed, reliable fire fighting system for remote areas and approached engineering consultants to design such a system. The Snuffer Compressed Air Foam System was the result. It has now has been in use throughout North America for more than a decade. In that time it has earned an enviable reputation for quality, reliability and innovation. The Snuffer was one of the earliest foam systems to be designed for ease of use and serviceability. Innovative features include the OneTouch Foam Control System, still the simplest and easiest foam control on the market today. The Snuffer system was also amongst the first systems to consider ease of servicing with the unique use of roll out skids to improve access. With the acquisition of the line by Tuff Built Products Inc., the Snuffer has entered a new era. With the infusion of new capital our goal is to maintain the Snuffer's quality and reliability while continuing to build on the line's reputation for customer focused innovation. Self Contained Systems

We Make the World’s Best Foam!

Self Contained Systems come with their own power source (engine). Thus there is no need for a PTO system. Water tanks and foam tanks are optional. These systems may also be equipped with a Roll Out Skid to improve access for servicing. This is normally done when the system is in an enclosed truck body.

How to design a Roll Out Skid System A Skid-Mounted System can come with a water tank (350 US gallons) mounted on the skid, or, you can mount the water tank independently (most prefer the tank on the skid). So a skid unit will have either two (Snuffer & skid) or three (Snuffer, water tank & skid) components that need to be ordered: 1. When ordering a Snuffer as a stand alone (water tank not on skid) - order Snuffer and short skid. Check for plumbing kits. 2. When ordering a Snuffer that will have a Tuff Built water tank on the skid - order Snuffer plus long skid plus water tank plus plumbing kit. 3. When ordering a Snuffer with a water tank that you will supply - order Snuffer plus long skid plus plumbing kit. IMPORTANT provide drawings, fitting placements and dimensions to Tuff Built to make sure the plumbing kit is correct for your tank.
