Atkins knows aviation. We have been working closely with airports for more than 50 years. In fact, today nearly 200 million passengers safely arrive or depart from runways constructed from our designs. Atkins has worked at 36 of the top 50 airports in the United States. And, in the last five years alone, we have managed more than $1 billion of runway-related construction projects. >

Atkins’ aviation projects range from small turf runways to major air carrier runways; from general aviation T-hangars to large hub terminal designs; and from new greenfield airports to renovations of existing facilities. In addition to our airport and airside projects, Atkins has designed for the “total airport community,” encompassing airport landsides, baggage systems, access roads, parking lots, security enhancements, and more. We also have teams of aeronautical engineers working closely with two of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers to design the aircraft of the 21st century.

We have learned to take something away from every project we complete and put it to work for our clients. When we discover a promising new technology or product, we propose it. If we can fast-track a project to help clients meet funding deadlines, we do it. And when we develop a professional relationship with an agency that has jurisdiction over airport development, we nurture it. Atkins considers every aspect of each aviation project, from the application of Federal Aviation Administration standards and guidelines to the final punch list at project completion.
