Hi there, and welcome to the second instalment in my series of free reports! I hope that the previous report helped to highlight the huge money-making potential of an online business, and gave you the motivation to get out of the rat race and start earning money using the internet! And if that’s what you’re thinking of doing, then you’ll probably want to know some of the ways in which you can make money from home… Well luckily for you, that’s exactly what this report is going to cover! So let’s take a look at them right now shall we? In essence, there are two main ways of making money online, and they are: • •

Selling your own product (vendor) Selling someone else’s product (affiliate)

And regardless of which route you take, you can choose to sell physical products (CDs, DVDs, etc) or digital products (e-books, software, etc)… So let’s begin by talking about how you can go about selling YOUR OWN products online, and digital products in particular. I’ll move onto physical products in a moment but information products are generally much easier to get a hold of and sell, and if you don’t have a great deal of experience selling products online then this is probably the best way for you to begin. Finding Information Products to Sell Now then, before I start to tell you where you need to look to locate the right information products for you to sell to your niche, it’s vital that you remember one crucial point: You must always look for products that solve people’s problems… In fact, this is the number one requirement I look for when searching for digital products that I can sell. And why is this? Well, we’re currently living in what I like to call a ‘microwave society’. 3

What I mean by this is that people today are constantly in search of speed and convenience. If they have a problem, they want it solved, NOW! For example, if they want to lose weight, they don’t want to do it the old fashioned way, through exercise, reducing their calorie intake and being disciplined and sensible about what they eat. No way! They want a quick fix and they want it now. They want a gastric band or liposuction, but because most people can’t afford that they’ll start searching online for the next diet book that will show them how to

“Lose 20 lbs in 2 Weeks!”

Similarly, if someone is in debt these days and needs to make some extra money, their first thought won’t be to take that part-time job at their local superstore… That would mean hard work and lots of hours… Are you kidding?! Instead, they’ll head to their PC and sign up to the latest online stock market trading course or betting system, and hope to make $10,000 in a week! If a teenage boy has acne, he’ll want a cure TODAY, and an e-book entitled “Acne Buster 3000” will be available online to provide the cure. If a young woman suffers from excruciating migraines, she’ll want to find a solution as soon as possible. She’ll want to know how best to avoid them, and exactly what to do if one arrives. Again, she’ll be able to find a multitude of products online that she can choose from that will help her solve this problem. If you have a look online you’ll be able to find a variety of information products that aim to solve people’s pressing problems, and this is where A LOT OF MONEY can be made. Here are just a few examples of potentially profitable e-books: ! ! ! ! !

How to safely lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks How to make a fortune from the stock market How to beat the government and pay less tax How to learn the Spanish language in 4 weeks How to get that perfect six-pack 4

! ! !

How to train your dog in 2 weeks How to make big money from real estate How to quit smoking TODAY!

Every single day, millions of people are using search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN to find solutions to problems like these, and they’ll pay good money to anyone who can provide the answers. And this is where you come in! Your job now is to find (or create) a product that does this; a product that people MUST HAVE if they want to solve that problem. And when you do, you’ll soon find that visitors will come flocking to your website with their wallet open and their credit card out! Now then, let me give you an example of an information product that solves a particular problem… I want you to put yourself in the other person’s shoes here. I want you to imagine that you have the following problem and live with it everyday of your life… Let’s say you have rheumatoid arthritis (a crippling and debilitating form of arthritis that limits your mobility and severely affects your quality of life). You wake up every morning with intense discomfort in almost every joint. All the movements that other people take for granted are incredibly painful for you… While searching online, you come across two books: Book #1 - “The Definitive Guide to Rheumatoid Arthritis: Coping With Your Illness.” Book #2 - “Relieve Your Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain In Just 15 Minutes a Day.” Which book will you be more likely to buy? The first book would obviously be useful in helping you to understand and deal with the problem, but the second book goes one step further by addressing the source of the problem… PAIN! People who live with this illness have, in all likelihood, already found a way to cope with their problem, but eliminating the pain and discomfort is what they’re really after. Consequently, the second book has addressed a problem (pain) that exists within this particular niche (rheumatoid arthritis), and is attempting to solve it (relieve your rheumatoid arthritis pain in just 15 minutes a day). 5

For anyone who suffers from this condition (and there are millions), such a book would be an absolute god-send. If you think in these terms to begin with - and try to solve people’s problems through information products - then you will start to make money. So why do I value information products so highly? Well, there a 3 main reasons for this: 1)

They are VERY EASY to get hold of…

As you’ll find out in a moment, information products that you can sell online are everywhere, and it doesn’t take much effort to get your hands on one. In fact, in no more than an hour, I could find a product online, re-brand it, and start selling it as my own! And you can’t do this with physical products. 2)

They are VERY CHEAP to deliver to the customers…

Due to the nature of a digital product, there are no shipping or delivery costs involved. As soon as a customer clicks on the order button, the product is sent to them immediately via an auto-responder system like www.aweber.com or www.getresponse.com People want speed and convenience, and with digital products, they’ve got it! 3)

They are INCREDIBLY lucrative…

Because the costs involved in creating an information product are so small, your profit margin is considerably higher than with a physical product. As there are no shipping, handling or staff costs, the only expense you incur is the purchase of the resale rights to the product, or the copywriting fee if you had the product written for you. How great is that?! And because of these inherent advantages, selling information products is the way I got started online, and I’d strongly urge you to do exactly the same… All you need to do is this:

6

1) Locate a target market of HUNGRY customers in a popular niche… 2) Give them a product that SOLVES THEIR PROBLEM and place it right in front of them! 3) Collect their payments via an automated payment processor like PayPal, ClickBank or your own merchant account… 4) Deliver the product to the customer instantly using an autoresponder service… And all of this can be accomplished without you having to do very much at all! Obviously, in time you should expand your business into other areas and start selling physical products (I’ll show you how to find these as well in a moment), but there is far less risk and expense involved with information products, so it’s a great way for any beginner to get their business off the ground. So how would you like to have YOUR VERY OWN e-book that solves a problem experienced by millions of people? Imagine if you could start selling a product that was instantly downloadable and cost hardly anything to deliver to the customer… Just think how much money you could make! Now, I know what you’re saying; “Yeah right, that’s much easier said than done”… But believe me, it really isn’t! Once you’ve found a hungry market, finding a suitable digital product to sell isn’t that difficult. In fact, there are two main methods that people use to do this: 1) Private Label Rights (PLR) A Private Label Rights product is basically a digital product written by someone else that you can purchase for a small fee, edit it however you like, and claim authorship of it! It literally takes all of the hard work out of product creation… How fantastic is that?! Just think about it for a moment… You don’t have to spend weeks or months creating a brand new product of your own from scratch. Instead, you can take a PLR product that has already been created and simply re-brand it! 7

Let’s say after some research, you discover a huge amount of online searches to do with ‘quitting smoking’. “Here are people with a problem that they want solving”, you say to yourself. You’ve found a HUNGRY MARKET. All you need to do now is find a product that you can sell to these people. So you visit www.Google.co.uk and type in “quit smoking PLR ebook”, or something similar. Here are the results of that search:

As you can see, there are a variety of ads for PLR products that you can purchase, edit and then sell as your own. What I normally do is have a good look around to find the best products available, and also type in slight variations on the keywords to bring up different search results as well. If you’re lucky you’ll be able to purchase a very good PLR product, but in most cases you’ll still need to go through it and re-write some of it, as I often find that the spelling and grammar needs improvement. Hey Presto… You have your very own product to sell! You call also try these excellent resources for PLR and also MASTER resale rights products (where YOU own the product and can even sell on the product with PLR): www.master-resale-rights.com www.plrebooks.co.uk www.sallys-ebooks.co.uk www.floodle.net 8

Many of these PLR products also come with their own sales letters that you can use, which makes things even easier! As I said, on some occasions you’ll purchase a few PLR products and find that they’re simply not up to scratch, and if you were to sell them as your own, your inbox would be deluged by refund requests! Clearly, not all PLR products will be top quality… The important thing is that each of the products you buy will have some very good information within them that you can use to create one, single product of your own. I’ve done this on numerous occasions. And a friend of mine once bought 5 different PLR products on ‘Learning the Spanish Language’, pulled out some of the best material and then re-wrote it to create his own product… and it made him a ton of money! In fact, he didn’t even re-write it himself. He employed someone else to do it for him! (And I’ll explain more about this in a moment.) You can also obtain the rights to a product simply by contacting the vendor of a product you’re particularly interested in. So if you manage to find one of these, try emailing the vendor and ask if they’d be happy to sell the Private Label Rights to you... Obviously, many product owners will say no as they don’t want anyone else selling THEIR product. However, you’ll be surprised at how many people will be willing to give you the rights to their product for a small fee! After all, they can continue selling the product themselves, but they’ll also get a nice chunk of money from you, for doing absolutely nothing… Then all you’ll need to do is make a few small alterations and replace their name with yours, and you’ll have your very own product! 2) Hire a Ghost-writer Another tactic you can use is to employ a freelance copywriter to produce a product for you. This is known as ‘ghost-writing’, because the actual author of your product is never known. Instead, they’ll produce the work for you for a fee, but the rights and copyright will be owned by you.

9

Although you’ll have to spend some money in the short term to get a product written for you, the long term benefits of doing this can be huge. For starters, you’ll own the product which means you can sell it for as long as you want… Secondly, if the product solves a common problem, has a big enough market and you have an effective system set up to sell it, you could make a sizeable income without writing a single word yourself! There are many sites that offer these sorts of services, and many copywriters who will gladly take on your project, removing all the hassle out of the product creation process. Two particularly good sites that I use are www.elance.com and www.guru.com. On Elance.com, I simply perform a search under the term “writing” and a whole host of potential copywriters pop-up, as you can see here:

Elance.com acts as a middleman between the copywriters and the clients and enables you to find experienced and professional copywriters who will produce a superbly written product for you in a matter of days. All you need to do is register with the site and then submit the job, giving a brief description of what you want and when you want it. A variety of copywriters will bid for your job and you simply select the one you want based on their track record, rating and how much they’ve bid. 10

It really is very easy and some of the most successful e-books have been produced this way. But selling information products isn’t the only way of making big money online… As I mentioned earlier, you can also sell real, physical products. Although digital products are perhaps easier to sell, due to the relative ease and lack of costs involved, you might want to branch out into physical items at some point in order to expand your business. However, it’s entirely up to you what path you take… The important thing to remember is that your profit margins should be as high as possible, and you should always look to sell products that deliver the best returns. Physical products can obviously take many forms, and you can sell virtually anything online if a market exists for it (clothes, supplements, food, drink, etc). However, the easiest PHYSICAL products to sell are typically information-based products. And physical information products typically take two forms: 1) DVD Products When it comes to producing physical products, DVDs are a perfect place to start… The great thing about DVDs is that they generally have a greater “perceived value” than e-books, especially when they’re sold as a series, which can help generate more money for you. A DVD series can also be produced fairly easily with the help of www.camtasia.com, the screen recorder software. In fact, if you’re not already using it, I’d strongly recommend that you get hold of it as soon as possible because it will open up a whole world of product development possibilities for you… Camtasia is quite expensive at $299 but it’s well worth the money, and if you’re serious about producing physical products yourself, then it has to be on your list of must have tools.

11

If you’d like to try before you buy, TechSmith (the company that produces Camtasia Studio) offer a free trial, which you can find here: www.techsmith.com/download/camtasiatrial.asp And if you do decide to purchase, TechSmith have an excellent bank of video tutorials to help you get started. (Oh, and by the way, I’m not affiliated with Camtasia in any way! I just use their software for many of my video products because I believe it to be the best available.) All you need to do to produce DVD content is plug a microphone into your laptop and start up the Camtasia software. The beauty of this is that you don’t need to worry about settings, backgrounds, camera lighting etc, and you don’t even need to appear on the DVD yourself if you don’t want to (you can just film what you’re doing on screen, especially if you’re selling an internet marketing “how to” guide). Everything you do and say in front of your laptop is then captured by Camtasia, just as if you were walking someone through the lesson at your home. This allows you to show customers - in a step-by-step fashion – whatever it is you’re trying to teach them, such as how to make money as an affiliate, how to set up an AdWords campaign, how to make money via the stock market or how to speak a foreign language, for example. The options for teaching are virtually endless, and the great thing is, the customer is in full control when it comes to how fast or how slowly they learn. That’s because they have the ability to pause, rewind or fast forward the content, so they can literally learn at their own pace. And you can produce DVD tutorials just like this, for many different markets and niches because the technology allows you to show the customer exactly what you’re looking at on-screen, what you’re doing and where you’re going. So if you know all about making money via the betting exchange website BetFair, for instance, you could record yourself as you tell your customers how to set up an account, how to work out the odds and how to place bets, and then package up this information as a DVD. This would be a fantastic alternative to one of your customers reading an e-book on the subject, where they might not be able to tell if they’re doing things correctly. With you showing them on-screen however, they’ll know for sure.

12

And if you package up a set of individual step-by-step tutorial videos on BetFair that will help your customers pull in an additional monthly income of £1,000, then you have a fantastic physical product on your hands! 2) Audio Products Another simple option for a physical product is an audio series, where you can simply record your own voice, provided you feel comfortable with talking into a microphone for an hour or two, of course! You could record yourself as you run the listener through some in-depth tuition on an aspect of your product, such as “how to learn Spanish” or “how to generate free traffic to your website”, for example. Alternatively, as an expert in your niche, you could ask a friend to interview you on your chosen subject, having first prepared some questions for them to ask. And to make these questions as relevant and as useful as possible, you could send out an email to your list asking them what their main problems are, and then prepare a collection of frequently asked questions as a result. A simple email to your list that asks something like; “what two things are you experiencing the most problems with” will give you a good selection of highly targeted, relevant questions that your customers want answering. If you’d like to record an audio file yourself, try one of the following sites: www.audacity.sourceforge.net www.nch.com.au/software Both of these options make it possible to record sound from microphones, line-in, phone-line and other input devices. If you’d rather not be the voice behind your own product, you can also pay for a professional voiceover to read out your script! A popular choice is www.internetjock.com where you can choose the voice that best fits whatever product you’re selling. Another option for a great audio product is to record someone else, ideally an expert in your niche who your customers will pay good money to listen to and learn from. Firstly, you need to find an industry expert in your chosen niche, and of course, this person must have some valuable information that you know your customers will be desperate to hear about. The great thing is, this isn’t as difficult as you might think… 13

There are many “gurus” out there who are well regarded in online circles for the experience they have in their respective niche, but they’re not exactly celebrities, and in all likelihood they’ll be more than happy to help you (especially if you allow them to plug their website or product in the audio!). Alternatively, you can look for an expert in your particular niche via one of the following websites: www.allexperts.com www.authorsandexperts.com www.experts.com Once you’ve found this person, all you’d need to do is email them with an invitation to conduct an interview about their area of expertise. And remember, by contacting that person and referring to them as an expert who your customers would love to hear from, you’ll be massaging their ego quite a lot, making them feel more valued and respected. As a result of this, they’ll be far more likely to agree to an interview! Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to agree on terms for the finished product (such as a one-off payment or commission-based earnings), but as I said, many experts will be happy for the extra coverage, as long as they are able to mention their products during the interview. This is fine, of course, and when it comes to mentioning their website address, you could even ask them to use your affiliate link. That way, you benefit TWICE! Also, the interview doesn’t need to be done face-to-face. So you don’t need to worry about having to actually meet the person. After all, that takes times and costs money, so it’s not economical for you. Instead, you can conduct it over the telephone, or via www.Skype.com, and then record it. There are lots of ways to record your Skype calls easily, allowing you to save them locally, put them in a podcast or transfer them to a CD. Here is a selection of applications for Windows that will allow you to record your Skype conversations: www.hotrecorder.com www.abyssmedia.com www.mixcastlive.com www.pamela-systems.com 14

You then just need to arrange for the interview to be edited and transcribed, which you can do via one of the following three options: www.elance.com www.guru.com www.idictate.com Once you’ve done all this, you can package up the files as a series of CDs, or as part of a multi-media box set even, including DVDs as well. When it comes to putting these audio files onto a disc, I’d recommend www.kunaki.com. This service has been excellent for me, particularly when I need small adjustments made to graphics on the covers or additional files I need adding at short notice. But do I need to produce the DVD or audio myself? No, and that’s the brilliant thing about selling products online! As I showed you earlier with the e-book example, you DON’T even have to produce these physical products yourself in order to sell them as your own! Instead, you can simply find an existing physical product with Private Label Rights again, purchase it for peanuts, and then RE-BRAND it! Let me give you an example of how this works… A few years ago, when a close friend of mine didn’t have many products to his name, he was looking around online for some ideas when he stumbled across the following website:

15

After reading further down the page, he discovered that the Internet Marketing Super Conference took place at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, and incredibly, it cost $1,500 to attend! The product itself was a collection of DVD and audio recordings taken from the conference, and as he read a little further, he discovered that the invited speakers were some of the most successful internet marketers in the world... The group of experts included Ken Giddens, Bruce Clay, Carl Herold, Armand Morin, Alex Mandossian, Joshua Shafran, Perry Marshall, Craig Perrine, Dr. Michel Fortin, William Shi, John Childers, Bruce Safran, Michael Woo-Ming, Tom Pauley, Mike Stewart and Galletti himself. “Wow”, he thought. “That’s a pretty impressive group of people!” He knew that this product would make a HUGE amount of money, with the “make money online” niche having such a sizeable market. “If only I could have a product like that”, he thought to himself. And then he spotted something... Carl Galletti (the host of the event and owner of the product) was offering something called Private Label Rights to the DVD and audio products. Wait a minute, he could actually buy the product, and then sell it on as his own? It sounded fantastic... And it was! But that wasn’t even the best part... The resale license also allowed him to “RE-BRAND” the DVDs or audios (depending on which one he bought). This was absolutely fantastic, because it meant he could give the product a new title, create his own packaging with his business name on it, alter the existing sales letter if he chose to, and essentially create a BRAND NEW product to sell, just like you can do with a PLR e-book! Note: Different PLR packages have different rules and stipulations. Some allow you to re-brand the product completely, while others set limitations, so make sure you fully examine what your product entitles you to do with it. This was clearly a great opportunity to get his hands on a top-quality product in a red-hot market that had thousands (even millions) of incredibly targeted and hungry prospects. And it was a niche market that he ALREADY had a pretty sizeable list for. After all, the “make money online” market was the main one he was involved in at the time, and the majority of his list had bought these sorts of products in the past. 16

He knew that all he had to do was locate the right product that these people would be interested in, and he’d be able to make A LOT of money. And The Internet Marketing Super Conference was absolutely perfect! Now, before he paid the license fee, the next step was to buy the product in question to check that it was everything it claimed to be, and this is something I’d always advise you to do as well. There are many products out there that aren’t as great as their sales material suggests, so it’s always a good idea to check out the product before you commit to purchasing the rights. Now then, he decided to buy the DVDs rather than the audios due to their higher perceived value, and when they arrived at his house he set aside a few hours to sit down and watch them, and see whether they were good enough to sell. He also tested a few of the techniques to see if they worked as well as the speakers claimed, and he was pleasantly surprised to see that they did! The group of experts taking part in the conference CLEARLY knew what they were talking about, and it was obvious that this product would sell well in the both the UK and the US. So then, he’d located a HUNGRY MARKET, and he’d now found a suitable product... The next step was to buy the Private Label Rights and start the re-branding process... To begin with he decided to offer his list a smaller, more manageable product consisting of just three of the DVDs, as opposed to the 15 that came with the original license; a number that he felt would be a little off-putting and difficult to work through. So he chose three DVDs that he felt would be most helpful to his list of customers. In this case it was the presentations of three particular speakers; Ken Giddens, Michel Fortin and Perry Marshall, experts in traffic generation techniques, Google AdWords and copywriting. He then had a look online for a DVD duplication house that would be able to create multiple copies of the DVDs and turn them into a completely new product. He soon found a company called www.kunaki.com, who were able to configure the DVDs for him, design new covers, package up the products, cellophane-wrap them, and then ship them out to his customers! How great is that?!

17

A physical product, that he hadn’t had anything to do with… and yet he was able to sell it as his own… And that’s exactly why you should be looking to quit your day job and start making money online… because it’s so much easier than people think! Now then, we’ve covered selling your own product online, in both digital and physical formats, so what about selling other people’s products, otherwise known as affiliate marketing? Affiliate Marketing The affiliate business model is perhaps one of the easiest ways to make a living online, and it’s a great way for any beginner to start. Essentially it involves promoting OTHER PEOPLE’S PRODUCTS for commission, which means that you don’t have to worry about creating or sourcing your own products, handling payments or even dealing with customers. In fact, all of the time-consuming administrative tasks are handled by the product owner himself and the affiliate network that the product is being sold through (which we’ll be discussing in just a moment)... As a result, affiliate marketing has been growing in popularity in recent years as people have begun to realize just how profitable it can be, and just how little “work” is actually required to do it! Some of the big players make thousands of dollars each and every day simply by sending out a few short emails to their lists of subscribers telling them about other people’s products! So then, what exactly is affiliate marketing? Ok then, in case you’re not completely sure, an affiliate program is basically an arrangement between a website/product owner and a marketer/affiliate (such as yourself) in which the marketer refers traffic (or potential customers) to the website of the product owner... Then, if a customer that you send to the website buys the product, YOU get paid a commission on the sale by the website owner (or the affiliate network if one of these is being used). Basically, an affiliate acts as a sales person for the site that they are sending traffic to. This referral process works by using specially coded links that enable the product owner to track which particular affiliate referred each prospect.

18

And starting up an affiliate business is very straightforward. All you need to is this: •

Build a website or have one created for you...

Register with an affiliate program that’s related to your website...

Generate as much traffic as you can to your site...

Direct your visitors towards the affiliate program via a “tracked” link...

Encourage your visitors to buy the product(s) in question!

And that's it! If you can successfully follow these steps, your website visitors will purchase products through your affiliate link and you’ll receive commission! Affiliate marketing isn’t a new concept either. In fact, there are hundreds of big name companies taking advantage of the potential “leads” that an average person can generate. In fact, if you visit virtually any big retail site, you’ll be able to find a link at the bottom of the page enabling you to join their affiliate program. www.Amazon.com is perhaps the most well known of these, and their affiliate program can be seen here:

If you’d like to take a closer look at Amazon’s affiliate program, you can go here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/ Below is a simple diagram to illustrate how affiliate marketing works (this example has been taken from the UK affiliate network, www.affiliatewindow.com):

19

And here is a breakdown of what this diagram means: 1. The consumer visits an affiliate's website (this can be anything from a shopping portal or a directory to a simple blog page, review website or press release, for example)... 2. Once the consumer finds a product or retailer (in this case, Gymworld.co.uk), they click on the link and are taken through to the merchant's site (this clickthrough is tracked so the merchant knows where the referral came from)... 3. The consumer then purchases the product and the merchant’s tracking software records the necessary information, such as price, referrer etc... 4. Once the sale is completed and the funds collected by the merchant, the affiliate is paid commission based on the sales figure and agreed percentage. As you can appreciate, an arrangement like this is a win/win situation for both the affiliate and the website/product owner. It allows the affiliate to make money on products they don’t own, while the website/product owner can potentially have thousands of people promoting their product, and they only pay the affiliate if, as and when they make a sale. 20

So then, where should you be looking for the very best affiliate products? Well, you can sign up to a variety of affiliate programs from big-name companies like those above if you like, and if that interests you then I suggest you have a look around on Google for a suitable program that matches your chosen niche. However, the best route for a “newbie” affiliate as far as I’m concerned is to sign up with an affiliate network. Although there are many, I’d recommend that you focus on the following five, as I’ve found these to be the best... 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

ClickBank: Commission Junction: PayDotCom Link Share: Share A Sale:

www.clickbank.com www.cj.com www.paydotcom.com www.linkshare.com www.shareasale.com

Affiliate networks like these have made it so much easier to profit online. If you wanted to sell one of your products online a few years ago, you would have had to set up your own merchant account and credit card processing system, while finding people to promote YOUR product was incredibly difficult. Basically, you were on your own! These days however, affiliate networks like those above handle all of this for you, allowing you to leverage on the income potential of thousands of other affiliates in the process... Essentially, they all act as a third party between the affiliate and the vendor, and provide the services required for both of these parties to prosper...
