Director’s Report We have received notification from HOG Aust/NZ

Manager Gaz Luxmore that David Poyser has successfully been appointed as the Regional Director Vic/TAS/SA. David has been a long term member of Yarra Valley Chapter and brings sound experience into this role. On behalf of our members’ I extend a warm welcome to David and look forward to meeting with and have his attendance to this Chapter. It is also timely to acknowledge the outgoing Regional Director Karen Phillips with the

assistance and guidance that was afforded to this Chapter by her over the past three years in her role as Regional Director. The National HOG Rally in Tamworth was a resounding success and congratulations must be afforded to the organisers’ for the planning and execution of such a great Rally event. For the Wagga Wagga Chapter members who attended we are grateful for your commitment and assistance to the roles representing our Chapter with Flag Bearers (Harry & Gabby Butler) and attendance to Director’s meeting (Garry Villiers). Also one of our members was a participant for LOH Best Ride and was successful in

picking up the 1st prize Award being Megan O’Rourke and “Woody” Members are urged to now focus on their planning for attendance at the Rally in Canberra from 23rd to 25th October 2015. Let us get behind Canberra Chapter and get greater numbers to this Rally than Tamworth attendees. Continued………...

Director’s Report The Directors Mystery Ride is upcoming 11th & 12th April

2015 whereby the cut off date was 24/03/15. I am pleased to advise that I have 31 members’ attending, 20 motorcycles and 1 car. Considering that last year’s event was the largest attendance in the history of this ride within the Chapter, a figure that has once again been exceeded this year. I just trust that the medication is adequate to enable me to perform in a means to meet the success of or maybe out perform last year’s ride.

All Chapter members’ are being requested to get behind the Chapter Committee with our upcoming fundraiser activities that have been secured in the form of BBQ’s at Bunning’s and Masters Hardware. We are only seeking about one hour’s contribution of your time to support this Chapter in raising revenue. For those members who are in a position to assist, please notify Dave Pascall (0438 224288) or 2Bills (0412 019322) to enable us to form a roster to adequately staff both sites. It will be confirmed by our General Meeting in April the venue location and date of the

Chapter AGM. The theme for this year is the letter “N”, so get your thinking caps on to be part of the adventurous theme! See you out and about on the rides.... Regards

Head Road Captain’s (Dusty’s) Report Hi there fellow Hoggies, Hope all is well and you’re out there shiny side up….. Well this year is really moving along; here we are just about to start April. Well the last two months have been very busy for the chapter and great to see so many chapter members participating in the events and activities that have been happening. So since we last spoke, we’ve had the January Friday night ride to Coolamon for dinner at the bottom pub. We had 18 bikes and a few “injured” drove out. Good feed as always and good night all round. Spider then had his Can Assist ride that the chapter was well represent-

ed at. Another good year for the money raised and a big congrats to Spider for another great effort. It was then on to one of the main events of the year, the 24 th National HOG Rally, this year held in Tamworth. The Wagga Wagga chapter was well represented with a record number of members attending a National Rally. 32 members from the chapter attended. It was also the biggest National Rally in Australia, with approx. 2350 HOG Members attending, and quite a few non-members on top of that figure. Tamworth was also the first National Rally that all Chapters in Australia were represented. AELEC was a great venue for the rally and there was a mix of members camping and staying in motels. Those camping experienced all that

the Tamworth weather had to offer. There were 3 main organized rides each day, culminating with the Thunder Run on the Sunday morning. Some of the other events that were organized were the Show and Shine, which our own Megan O’Rourke won the LOH category with “Woody”, congrats Meggsie!! The HDTV crew was there and the Screaming Eagles played the first night, who as usual were fantastic. . Continued……..

Head Road Captain’s (Dusty’s) Report The following afternoon we had our own Harley Davidson Rodeo, with the top riders of bulls and bronc’s on Australia there showing how it is done. Followed that night by a one off Harley Davidson Outback Spectacular, which too was a fantastic show. Some members took their time getting back home, others had to smash out the ride on the Sunday arvo. All chapter members made it home safe with a few good stories to tell. Looking forward to what is planned for next year The following weekend back from the National Rally saw a Saturday ride to Phil’s for the “clayton’s BBQ”. The Sunday also saw 8 bikes depart for Bright. The Brighter Days Festival

was on at the same time and the Screaming Eagles and the HDTV crew were there again, obviously stalking us!! Lunch at the Bright Brewery and then a trip back home with a Police escort for part of the way. Another great day and event. Those that missed out, it is well worth the effort for next year. Other events that the chapter has been well represented t have been: Tubby’s Ride, The Black Dog Ride (which we had 2Bills, Muz and myself as marshal's), The Truckies ride and a ride to catch up with the Canberra Chapter too. The month finished up with the Friday night ride to Junee to the Commercial Hotel for dinner and a chance to win the $8400 Joker Poker, which was pretty safe!!

Many more events coming up over the next few months so get amongst it and make the most of the last of the good weather. The Directors mystery ride and the Mothers day LOH ride just to name a few, which are already booked out. Hope to see many more of you on the next few runs and please if you have suggestions for rides in the next 12 months, please don’t hesitate to contact me with them. Well that’s about it all for now, remember …… if you’re gonna do it…… do it on a Harley!!!

Lady of Harley Report Hi everyone, Its been a great 2 months and very busy. The very first thing I must say is a huge congrats and well done to Megan O'Rourke for winning best LOH bike at Tamworth. This is a great honour for Megan to have won and Megan and Woody should be very proud. Tamworth was a fantastic rally. Wayne and myself were very honoured to have been asked to fly the flag for the club in the chapter parade and had a fantastic time being part of it. I would

also like to add thanks to Megan for her help in getting my wardrobe ready for the parade. I was quite happy with my alterations. NSW/ACT state rally is the next close rally, 23-25th October and it will be really worth going to. For those who have not yet been to rally get on board, you really can have a great time at them. Like everything in life you get out what you put in. I am really looking to LOH overnight ride in May. I have planned for a paddle steamer ride on the mighty Murray River followed by a bit of time to have a look around the historic Port District before heading off for dinner. Sunday will be a quiet day with a lovely brunch and home early afternoon for all those Mums to enjoy the rest of their Mothers Day.

Regards Gabby

Safety Officer’s Report We have a great couple of months travelling round the country side whether it be on the bike or chauffeuring people around in the car. Had some great rides with some great people . Couple of points to ponder. Is your bike registered? Check your rego to ensure you don’t get a $1200 fine if it is not, as one CHOG member recently found out. When was the last time you changed the battery in your FOB? It is recommended that the battery be replaced every 12 months. To achieve this; 1) Insert a five cent piece or similar blade into the thumbnail slot on the side of the FOB to separate the two halves. 2) Remove the battery and discard. 3) Install a new battery (Size 2032) with the positive (+) side facing down. 4) Align the two halves of the FOB and snap them together. What motorcyclists need to know about safe lane filtering 

Motorcycle lane filtering laws now apply in NSW, with strict conditions

Motorcyclists must only lane filter when travelling less than 30 km/h

Motorcyclists can lane filter through stationary and slow moving traffic

Motorcyclists caught moving between traffic at over 30km/h face heavy fines and three demerit points under a new offence called ‘Lane Splitting’

8

It will be illegal for motorcyclists to lane filter: 

next to the kerb

next to parked vehicles

in school zones

Continued…..

Wagga Hogger Sponsored by Phil’s Garage Harley Davidson

Safety Officer’s Report Continued 

Motorcyclists should always look out for pedestrians and cyclists

Motorcyclists should not lane filter around heavy vehicles and buses

Only fully licensed motorcyclists are allowed to lane filter

Motorcyclists must only lane filter when it’s safe

Motorcyclists must comply with all existing road rules when lane filtering. This includes stopping before the stop line at a red traffic light or stop sign, never in front or over it. Safety information for other road users

Motorists should always check twice for motorcycles.

Motorists should not deliberately move into the path of a motorcyclist who is lane filtering.

Motorcyclists are only allowed to lane filter when they do it safely.

Motorcyclists should not be lane filtering around heavy vehicles and buses.

Webmaster/Editors Report Well a great time was had by all those that

attended the 24th Australian National HOG Rally. The weather Gods looked down on us favourably for the three days of the rally. The only rain we saw was on the Thursday and Sunday nights and this only affected a few hardy souls that were camping and a shower on the Thunder run that didn't affect the Wagga group as we were 26 Km from the beginning of the Thunder run and it had past by the time we arrived back in Tamworth. Check out the piccy’s on the web site.

The AGM is fast approaching and this year it is brought to you by the letter.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If you want to have an input as to where, when, menu's etc., make sure you come along to the next general meeting and have your say. It is held on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the piggery, 15 Moorong street at 7.30 pm. There is some interesting reading supplied by our Historian regarding second world war Harley’s at the following website that due to space constraints couldn't be added to this newsletter.
