This is a fun, recreational softball league for men and women ages 18 and over. Games are on Sundays only, from late May until late August at Westwood Park. Your own pitcher pitches to you ("Gimme Ball"). There are eight teams in the league and the average team size is 17-19 players – 11-12 males and 6-7 females. Players must play a minimum of six games in the regular season of 10 games. No spares please. All skill levels welcome. The program is offered to girls and boys born between 1991 and 2002 (proof of age is mandatory at registration). The season begins in September and ends in March. Uniforms are provided by the league; shoes are the responsibility of the player. As a volunteer program, we are always searching for coaches and volunteers with knowledge of basketball. We offer a coaching clinic prior to the start of the season. Brookwood alumni are encouraged to return as volunteers to coach and/or referee. Registration:

The Glenmore Curling Club is open to anyone: boys and girls ages 7 and over, teenagers, adults and seniors. The club comprises four sheets of ice and is open seven days a week. CanSkate (LEARN-TO-SKATE program for boys and girls ages 5 and up) The CanSkate program is Skate Canada’s learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages. Basic skating skills are taught and emphasized through fun activities and continuous movement in small groups. Skills are assessed frequently and there are badges awarded at each level. CanSkate is a feeder program to the Skate Canada Star Skate Program and Competitive Programs, and is excellent training for those interested in hockey and ringuette. The program is taught by Skate Canada professionals and trained assistants. Private Ice – Star Skate and Competitive Program Offered to skaters already in our skating programs or transferring from another skating club. Professional private instruction required. This is not for beginners. Beginners will be referred to our CanSkate program.

SKATING OUTDOOR SKATING RINKS Skating rinks are set up in different parks of the City. Depending on the weather, they will be open from late December until the spring break. A dressing room is available in every chalet, which will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The schedule for the weekend is 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. in all parks, except Centennial Park, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

SOCCER DOLLARD SOCCER CLUB Information:

Winter:

Winter Indoor Soccer is a skills development program offered from January through March. The 10week course is devoted to helping our young players improve their skills. The one-hour class includes a mix of skill development drills and scrimmages. At the present time, these sessions are under the excellent tutelage of our technical department.

Summer:

There is a choice of two leagues through the summer months, the inter-city league and the inter-park league (also known as House League). The inter-park league is recreational. The time commitment is two weekday evenings for one hour. We introduce soccer at age 4 in our club. The inter-city league is for more competitive players. Inter-city begins with team tryouts from October to May. The time commitment in the summer months is three weekday evenings and three to four weekends to attend tournaments. We also have AAA soccer teams in some categories.

Mozart: Don Juan or Passion for 4 Sunday, October 25 at 2 p.m. The Franz Joseph Quartet, a group of talented musicians playing on period instruments, is pleased to present excerpts from Mozart's joyful drama "Don Juan". In this opera for 4, the string quartet rather than the vocal cords give life to the characters. A 90-minute concert presented to children ages 9 and up.

La Follia and the gypsies Sunday, November 29 at 2 p.m. Mathias Maute and Sophie Larivière from the Caprice Ensemble, accompanied by David Jacques at the baroque guitar, present a unique program featuring pieces taken from Slovakia and Rumania and works by composers who were influenced by the gypsy music they heard while traveling throughout Europe.
