Overview

Overview With Vodafone IP Phone Pro and DSL/WLAN access, many of the functions provided on your mobile phone are also available on the PC. Vodafone IP Phone Pro therefore enables you to make telephone calls via the PC as well as to use mobile services such as SMS and MMS. With this, you can not only telephone from PC to PC but also from the PC into the fixed network as well as make calls to mobile phones. Furthermore, you can benefit from all the advantages of an Instant Messenger by means of the integrated chat function and enhance your online experience with a webcam. The individual main functions are: •

Quickstart You can use Vodafone IP Phone Pro by following just a few simple steps: 1. Download Vodafone IP Phone Pro from the Vodafone website http://www.vodafone.de/ ipp herunter. 2. 2.Install Vodafone IP Phone Pro on your PC (see „Installation of Vodafone IP Phone Pro and Vodafone IP Phone Pro Light“, page 3). 3. Start Vodafone IP Phone Pro by entering your user name and the password that were sent to you in advance by SMS.. 4. Then use one of the aforementioned main functions.

System Requirements and Installation In order to ensure that you can work optimally with Vodafone IP Phone Pro, the following requirements should be met: •

Ö Installation of Vodafone IP Phone Pro and Vodafone IP Phone Pro Light 1. Log on to the Vodafone website at: http://www.vodafone.de/ipp 2. Click on DOWNLOAD and download the Vodafone IP Phone Pro installation file. 3. Open the download directory that you have created. Activate the installation file by double clicking on it.

4. A dialogue box appears. To select the language, click on the drop-down menu.

5. The installation assistant opens. Click on NEXT to proceed with the installation.

If you agree to the licensing terms, click on I AGREE.

6. Select which user(s) Vodafone IP Phone Pro is to be provided for. Click on NEXT.

7. Select the components that are to be installed (optionally, the SMS toolbar).

Click on NEXT 8. Select the target directory. The programme automatically checks whether sufficient memory capacity is available on the hard disk. Click on INSTALL.

Ö Registering Vodafone IP Phone Pro To register for the full version of IP Phone Pro, call 12 363 free of charge from the German Vodafone network. You will then receive your access password conveniently by SMS and can register using the software log-in mask. Ö Starting Vodafone IP Phone Pro Start Vodafone IP Phone Pro by clicking on the shortcut symbol on your desktop. Alternatively, in the Windows start-up menu, click on ALL PROGRAMMES⇒VODAFONE MESSENGER PC⇒VODAFONE MESSENGER PC . 1. After receiving the password that was sent by SMS, proceed as follows: Enter your USER NAME/MOBILE PHONE NUMBER and the PASSWORD in the Vodafone IP Phone Pro start-up window. 2. To set up the link to the Vodafone IP Phone Pro server, click on LOGIN . Please note: To reset your password, in the log-in mask, click on reset to password for IP PHONE PRO FULL or IP PHONE PRO LIGHT.

After a short time, the main menu is displayed and you can start communicating.

Ö Create/Change Profile 1. To create your profile initially and to also adapt it later, click on the symbol and select VODAFONE MESSENGER PC ⇒ YOUR PROFILE (IHR PROFIL).

2. Enter your own contact details in the window 3. "Edit Profile/General", and confirm by clicking SAVE (SPEICHERN). Please note: •

Ö Initiating a Telephone Call Start IP Phone Pro and log in as described in the section „Starting Vodafone IP Phone Pro“ You have several possibilities for initiating a telephone call: •

Enter the telephone number in the respective field and press Enter

Via the main menu

Via the context menu of the respective contact. 1. If you would like to make a telephone call immediately, enter the telephone number of the person you wish to call under "enter telephone number or email address" and confirm this by pressing RETURN- or ENTERTASTE. Tip: Ensure that the numbers only consist of figures and the plus symbol (in the case of international codes). Do not include any spaces or additional characters (slash, dash, etc.) when entering the telephone number or otherwise the call will not be set up.

2. To begin a telephone call, click on the CALLING SYMBOL 3. The communication window opens displaying the contact list that has been opened. Tip: Alternatively, select a person's name from the list of contacts and open the CONTEXT MENU ⇒ CALL by clicking the right mouse key. Here, select the name or the telephone number per mouse click.

5. The call status is shown in the main window. To finish the call, click on the HANG-UP SYMBOL bottom of the toolbar.. Tip: To interrupt the audio stream during a call, click on the MICROPHONE SYMBOL in the lower toolbar. The symbol then changes to . To continue the call, click on the symbol once again. Tip: To 'hold/park' a call, click on the HOLD/PARK SYMBOL in the lower toolbar. To continue the call, click on the symbol once again.

Tip: To display the dial-pad, click on the DIAL-PAD SYMBOL with which you can enter the telephone number by clicking on the corresponding keys.

1. To accept a call, click on the ACCEPT SYMBOL : Please note The Dual Ring service is available to IP Phone Pro users. Dual Ring makes it possible that an incoming call "rings" both on your PC and on your mobile. The settings for Dual Ring can be configured under "Main Menu/Your Profile" and the "Services" tab with the following options: •

Ö Starting a Video Call To start a video call, the "video" option must be switched on/enabled. 1. To start a video call, proceed in the same way as under „Initiating a Telephone Call“, page 9 . Please note: A later version will also include video telephony from the PC to the mobile phone as an additional function. 2. The dialling status is shown in the main window.

Tip: To interrupt the video transmission during a call, click on the VIDEO SYMBOL in the main menu. The symbol then changes to . To restore the image, click on the symbol once again. Tip: To 'hold/park' a call, click on the HOLD/PARK SYMBOL in the lower toolbar. To continue the call, click on the symbol once again.

Ö Sending SMS You have several possibilities for sending an SMS: •

Tip: Alternatively, select a person's name from the section 'Contact List' and open CONTEXT MENU/SEND SMS by clicking the right mouse key.

2. Enter the text in the message window. Please note: If you enter more than 160 characters, you will receive a notice that the message will be split and sent in several SMS. 3. Click on SEND/SENDEN. Tip: If you have highlighted several contacts in the contact list, you can send the SMS to all the persons selected.

4. After the message has been sent successfully, the dialogue box "Your SMS has been sent" appears. To close the dialogue box, click on OK. Please note: If you installed the SMS toolbar during installation (see „Further details regarding these items are provided below..“, page 27) you can alternatively send an SMS direct from the web browser..

Ö Receiving SMS 1. If the client is activated, the receipt of an SMS is indicated in the window at the bottom right-hand side, above the toolbar 2. To read the message, click on this notification window. Tip: Alternatively, select the CALLS/MESSAGES (ANRUFE/NACHRICHTEN ) tab from the main window. Click on the message that is to be displayed.

Ö Sending MMS 1. Click on TEXT in the main menu and select “Send Multimedia Message (MMS)“.

Tip: Alternatively, select a person's name from the section 'Contact List' and open CONTEXT MENU/SEND MMS ( KONTEXTMENU/MMS senden )by clicking the right mouse key. Here, select the name or the telephone number. Please note: It is currently not possible to send an MMS to several recipients simultaneously. This function will be added in a later version.

2. Enter the text in the field 'Message Text' in the MMS window. 3. Add multimedia attachments to your message if required. For this purpose, click on ADD CONTENT (INHALT HINZUFÜGEN). 4. Select the corresponding multimedia file from your local directory.. 5. Click on SEND to transmit your message.

Ö Starting a Chat 1. Select a person's name from the section 'Contact List' and open CONTEXT MENU/START CHAT (KONTEXTMENÜ/CHAT STARTEN) by clicking the right mouse key.

2. Enter the text in the 'chat window'. To send your message, click on SEND (SENDEN). Your chat partner's reply will also be shown in the 'chat window'. Tip: You also have the possibility of calling your chat partner direct or sending and receiving SMS from the chat window . For this purpose, click on CALL (ANRUFEN).

3. To add emoticons to your message, click on the SMILEY-SYMBOL.

Ö Change Online-Status 1. To change your online status, click on the 'green dot' in front of your profile name or on the 'status line' to enter your own status message for the current online status.

4. Enter your search criteria in the 'Search Entry'. 5. To start the search, click on 'Search' on the right.

6. The contacts found are shown highlighted in the lower part of the window. 7. To add the contact to your personal contacts, click on ADD (HINZUFÜGEN).

8. The window 'Add Contact' opens. Here, you have the possibility of adding further details. 9. To permanently add the contact to your personal contact list, click on SAVE (SPEICHERN)..

Ö Software Settings To configure Vodafone IP Phone Pro, click on 'MAIN MENU/CONFIGURATION' (HAUPTMENÜ/KONFIGURATION). Here, you have the possibility of making various settings for optimization. The configuration menu includes the following items: •

Further details regarding these items are provided below.. 1. To automatically activate Vodafone IP Phone Pro when starting Windows, click on the corresponding checkbox. To deactivate the function, click on the box once again.

2. To set the language, click on LANGUAGE (SPRACHE). Choose either German or English.

3. To configure your audio settings, click on AUDIO. Here, you have the possibility of configuring the following devices: •

Recording device

Call-signalling device

To complete the configuration, click on SAVE (SPEICHERN).

4. To configure your audio settings, click on VIDEO. 5. To switch on your webcam, activate the checkbox VIDEO/ACTIVATE (VIDEO/AKTIVIEREN).. 6. To show the webcam preview, click on WEBCAM PREVIEW (WEBCAM VORSCHAU). A live picture will now be shown on the right-hand side instead of the webcam symbol. 7. To allocate individual sounds to certain functions, click on SOUNDS (KLÄNGE). 8. To complete the configuration, click on SAVE (SPEICHERN).

Ö Deinstalling Vodafone Messenger PC Click on ALL PROGRAMMES ⇒ VODAFONE ⇒ VODAFONE IP PHONE PRO ⇒ UNINSTALL. To deinstall, follow the instructions given on the screen.

Ö Sending Messages with the SMS Toolbar 1. Once Vodafone IP Phone Pro has been installed, the SMS toolbar is available in your web browser 2. To send an SMS, click on the entry field TEXT. Enter your short message. Please note If you enter more than 160 characters, you will receive the notice that the message will be split and sent in several SMS. 3. To send the SMS, click on the field TO and enter the mobile phone number. Then click on SEND/SMS (SENDEN/SMS). 4. To send an MMS, click on SEND/ MMS (SENDEN/MMS). Enter the text under YOUR MESSAGE (IHRE NACHRICHT). 5. To send the MMS, click on the field SEND TO (SENDEN AN) and enter the mobile phone number and then click on SEND (ABSENDEN).

6. To configure the log-in setting for the Vodafone SMS toolbar, click on SETTINGS (Einstellungen) in the SMS toolbar menu. Here, you can determine whether your log-in is only necessary once or to be requested for every action
