Project overview 

The Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) is a new joint initiative by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) that seeks to develop new antibiotic treatments to address the major public health threat of antimicrobial resistance.

Launched in May 2016, GARDP is now in its incubation, or start-up phase, hosted by DNDi. Until the end of 2017, GARDP is now building up its team, establishing a legal entity, and setting out its long-term strategy and roadmap.

DNDi and the GARDP project team are seeking proposals to establish GARDP visual identity and branding ahead of launching of the GARDP Business Plan and announcing the start of R&D projects in early 2017.

Page 3

Background 

DNDi’s mission is to develop new drugs or new formulations of existing drugs for people living with neglected diseases, such as human African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, and Chagas disease. Following consultations with its founding partners and key global public health actors, DNDi has recently taken on antibiotic resistance as a key area of need. Among the operating models was the possibility for DNDi to incubate a new initiative – GARDP – much in the way that DNDi itself was incubated by Médecins Sans Frontières in 2003.

GARDP’s mission is to develop new antibiotic treatments addressing antimicrobial resistance and to promote their responsible use for optimal conservation, while ensuring equitable access for all in need.

GARDP’s governance is de facto embedded into DNDi’s governance structure during its start-up phase. GARDP’s branding will therefore be used largely in conjunction with DNDi branding (and on occasion and where appropriate, with WHO’s logo) at least during the start-up phase.

Project scope 

DNDi and the GARDP project team are seeking independent (or small agency) graphic designers and creatives to create a new brand identity, including logo and brand identity guidelines, and design specific marketing collateral, including: o

One logo with a visual and the letters “GARDP”, one associated logo with the same visual and the fully spelt-out wording “Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership” 

Logos should be given in four-color and grey-scale

Logo variants should possess ability to be applied on black, white, or colour backgrounds

Logos should be presented in a variety of appropriate formats for both digital and print platforms, and in JPG, PNG, EPS and AI (in vector format)

o

Identification of primary and secondary corporate colours for corporate use, including in RGB, CMYK, PMS

o

Identification of primary and secondary fonts for documents to be printed both professionally and in-house

o

Application to a variety of stationary collateral including letterhead and envelopes, business cards, email template

o

A standard set of usage rules for staff and all contractors should be developed and included to ensure brand cohesiveness

To inform the creative brief, the project scope will be refined during a kick-off meeting with the chosen graphic designer/graphic design firm, including discussion on GARDP values and desired look and feel

Three design directions should then be presented by the chosen graphic designer/graphic design firm; three rounds of subsequent revisions should be envisioned.
