Professor Donna L. Street is the Mahrt Chair in Accounting at the University of Dayton (USA). She is active in several academic and professional organizations. Currently she serves as President of the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER). Street previously served as President of Beta Alpha Psi and of the International Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA). Street received the Virginia Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in 1999 and the AAA International Accounting Section Service Award in 2004. This summer Street received the Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award from the AAA International Accounting Section.

Richard “Rip” Hale provides his clients with over 20 years of investment experience and a sincere interest in their success. Rip received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and his postgraduate Endowment and Foundation Certificate from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is both a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified Investment Management Consultant.

Professor Street has published several papers in journals including Behavioral Research in Accounting; Accounting and Business Research; Accounting Horizons; International Journal of Accounting; Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting; Journal of International Accounting Research; and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation. She is co-editor of the Institutional Perspectives section of the Journal of International Financial Management.

Rip will be providing us an update of what is going on in the market as well as discuss best practices in the business.

Rip has served as faculty for the University of Dayton School of Law Employee Benefits Tax Conference and has also been recognized by Barrons Magazine as being among the top 1% of all Wealth Managers in the country each year Barrons has conducted the rankings. He served as President of the Dayton Chapter of IMA in 1995-6 and was recognized as Member of the Year in 2003-4.

President’s Message We are on the home stretch of the current program year with only two meetings left. Our next meeting is April 15th. The 5:30 session is on International Accounting and will be presented by Donna Street from University of Dayton. Our dinner speaker is chapter member Rip Hale from Smith Barney. Rip’s presentation is titled "Lessons Learned from Working with the Best". He will also provide some commentary on the current market. There are a number of other CPE events scheduled in the coming months. On May 20th, in addition to our regular dinner meeting, a special luncheon program has been planned at the Dayton Foundation. Thanks to Barry Smith for arranging this event. Registration information is provided below. On April 25th the 34th Annual Meonske Professional Development Conference will be held at Kent State University (see details on page 3). The 89th Annual IMA National Conference is scheduled for June 14 - 18 in Tampa, Florida. Please make plans to attend the remaining Dayton Chapter events and hopefully you can take advantage of some of the other opportunities as well.
