VIEVU Multi-Dock Network User Guide

GETTING STARTED Multi-Dock Setup OVERVIEW The Multi-Dock Network is a network enabled docking station for VIEVU cameras. The multi-dock will be connected to an Ethernet cable and communicate with the network to automatically transfer video files to the VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL. To set up the Multi-Dock Network, connect an Ethernet cable and power cable to the rear of the multi-dock. The multi-dock will use DHCP to acquire an IP address on the network. To easily determine the IP address, you may connect a USB flash drive to the USB port in the rear of the multi-dock – a text file will be created containing the IP address assigned to the Multi-Dock Network. The Multi-Dock Network is configured via an internet browser. Once you have the IP address, you may access the interface and log in to configure the multi-dock.

LOG IN Open an internet browser and navigate to Tips the IP address of the Multi-Dock Network. At the login screen, use the following default credentials Login ID: admin Password: vievu123 You will be brought to the “Configuration” page.

MAIN MENU Configuration OVERVIEW The Configuration page is where settings may be adjusted to suit the specific VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL setup being used. There are also other customer specific settings that can be changed.

VIEVU SOFTWARE To configure the Multi-Dock Network for VIEVU Solution: In the “VIEVU Software” drop-down box, select VIEVU Solution. Enter your Account Name in the field “Account Name”. This is the first part of your VIEVU Solution website. Example https://xxxx.vievusolution.com (where xxxx is the Account Name) Enter your Access Token in the field “Access Token”. This can be found under “Settings” while logged into your VIEVU Solution website. For more information, see the VIEVU Solution User Guide. To configure the Multi-Dock Network for VIEVU VERIPATROL: In the “VIEVU Software” drop-down box, select VERIPATROL. Enter your VERIPATROL Server information in the fields under “VERIPATROL Server”. The default port is 43690. After entering the appropriate information, press “Save”. Press “Test Connection” to ensure that the Multi-Dock Network can communicate with the server.

Tips - If the connection test fails,

double check that the information has been entered correctly and that traffic to and from the dock is not blocked by a firewall.

TIME ZONE In the “Time Zone” drop-down box, select the time zone for your location. Press “Save” to apply the changes.

Tips - The Time Zone setting will be

applied to cameras docked at this multi-dock and reflected in video timestamps.

HOSTNAME In the “Hostname” field, enter the hostname that the Multi-Dock Network will use. Press “Save” to apply the changes. The multi-dock will request a restart when the hostname is changed.

PROXY SERVER If a proxy server is required, check the box “Enable Proxy Server”. Enter the necessary information to use the proxy server. Press “Save” to apply the changes.

IP ADDRESS To use a static IP address instead of a DHCP-assigned address, select “Static IP Address”. Enter the desired IP address and network information. Press “Save” to apply the changes. The Multi-Dock Network will be available at the new address shortly.

NTP SERVER SETTINGS To use an internet time server, ensure that the multi-dock is able to access the internet. To use a local time server, select “Use local time server” and enter the local server address. Press “Save” to apply the changes.

Tips - The time information from the NTP server is applied to both the Multi-Dock Network and cameras connected to this multi-dock.

Firmware OVERVIEW The Firmware page shows the current firmware version of the Multi-Dock Network. Firmware can be updated through the browser interface when updates are available.

UPDATE FIRMWARE Select “Browse” and navigate to the firmware .zip file on your computer. Select “Upload” and wait for the gray progress bar to become fully green. Select “Upgrade Firmware” to apply the firmware update. Allow the dock to sit undisturbed and check back in 20 minutes.

Tips - It is recommended to contact

VIEVU support when upgrading Multi-Dock Network firmware. Please call 888-285-4548 (option 2) to reach Technical Support.

Page 5

VIEVU Multi-Dock Network User Guide To update firmware automatically, enable “Automatic updating” under the Firmware page. In order for this feature to work, the Multi-Dock must have access to the internet.

Preferences OVERVIEW The Preferences page is where login credentials for the Multi-Dock Network can be changed.

Tips - Make sure any changes to the login credentials are carefully backed up in case the credentials are forgotten.

CHANGE LOGIN In the “Change Login” field, enter the new login name. Press “Save” to apply the changes.

CHANGE PASSWORD In the “Change Password” section, enter the new password in the first field. Enter the new password again in the second field to confirm. Press “Save” to apply the changes.

OPERATION Connecting Cameras OVERVIEW The Multi-Dock Network supports up to 10 cameras at one time. Once the Multi-Dock Network has been configured and the cameras assigned to VIEVU Solution or VERIPATROL, the multi-dock will be able to transfer videos from the cameras as well as update them. For more information on assigning cameras, please see the User Guide for the VIEVU software being used. Additional support material is available at www.vievu.com/support.

LE4/LE4MINI PORT INSERT The LE4 Multi-Dock Network includes the ability for each port to fit both the LE4 and LE4mini cameras. If the port will be used for an LE4 camera, remove the insert by pressing the tab on the rear and lifting up. If the port will be used for an LE4mini, no change is needed. The LE3 Multi-Dock Network only supports LE3 cameras.

CONNECTING CAMERAS TO MULTI-DOCK NETWORK Loosen the USB port cover on the camera. Rotate it 90° to the rear of the camera. Align the camera with a port on the top of the Multi-Dock Network. Gently insert the camera into the port by pressing down. If resistance is felt, ensure the USB cover is aligned with the slot in the rear of the port and that the camera is oriented correctly. Do not force the camera into the port as permanent damage to the camera or port may occur. The lights on top of the camera will communicate the status. The cameras will automatically transfer videos. Do not remove the camera when it is downloading.

Tips - To ensure cameras are

correctly mounted, look for the following:

- LE4 – after connecting the

camera, watch for the status light to turn solid blue.

- LE3 – after connecting the

camera, slide the lens cover to the “on” position and watch for a solid amber light.
