Climate Challange of Vodafone Group It’s up to all of us to step up to the climate challenge and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy is inside of us !

Vodafone has ambitious energy efficiency targets, and we’re taking every opportunity to green our operations. There’s a lot you can do too – at network and in every area of your work life.

“We will reduce our global CO2 emissions by 50%, against the 2006/07 total, by 2020” 3 VFTR NW Energy Strategy Infrastructure and Energy Team

• Single RAN (with Huawei) • TRX Shutdown BCCH Turn-off with Assumptions (Motorola): 60% of BTSs are in urban and suburban areas & can use this feature 30% of suburban BTSs may be turned off during quiet periods. This feature can be used 6 hours per day. Turning off a quiet BCCH carrier saves an additional 200W. Network has 10.000 4/4/4 BTSs. Electricity costs $0.15 per kWh Savings are: 60% * 30% * 10.000 * 3 BCCH radios * 0.2kWh * (6/24) * 24 * 365 * 0.15 Savings = $355k for a 10.000 BTS network 19 VFTR NW Energy Strategy Infrastructure and Energy Team
