Printing* How do I print in the Monterey building? In addition to the student computing labs, UTSA now has a total of 21 "Print Spot" printers in almost every academic building at the Main and Downtown campuses, 3 of which reside in the Monterey building. For further information regarding “Print Spot” http://utsa.edu/oit/printing/aboutPrinting.cfm Each registered student will receive an allocation of 200 free pages each semester. The free pages have no cash value. Once the 200 page allocation is depleted, students may use their UTSACard by applying money to it at the Cash Value machines or they can purchase a “Guest Card” at the cash value machine. As of now, all plotter inks and paper are pre-installed and free to use for UTSA College of Architecture registered students. Large format printing that is not related or required by a course within UTSA’s College of Architecture, is strictly prohibited and will be enforced. *The College of Architecture computer lab monitors and staff will provide assistance with the usage of installed programs to the best of our abilities, but there are not tutors on staff. Specific assistance to the use of installed programs and programs taught through the digital courses should be directed towards the instructors whose class the students are enrolled in.

Policies and Etiquette (campus wide) Policies and Etiquette will be posted in the computer labs as well.

General Policy Statement The UTSA College of Architecture Student Computing Labs are available to all UTSA College of Architecture, Interior Design, Urban and Regional Planning and Construction Science and Management students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be able to provide proof of current UTSA enrollment (see any UTSA Bulletin/Catalog for mandatory ID information), and may be asked to show their UTSACard. To ensure that all students have equal access to the equipment, any PC that is left unattended for 10 minutes will be reset. Any books, notebooks, or other materials will be collected and placed in the Lost and Found, which is located in the IT office adjacent to the computer labs (MNT 1.103B.1) and/or at the security desk near the front entrance to the Monterey building. No student data should be saved on any UTSA computers. The College of Architecture will provide temporary storage for your convenience that is automatically created when a student logs into one of the computer labs in the Monterey building. To access the student folder created on the temporary server, double click the icon on the computer desktop labeled “Student Drive”. Users may occupy only one computer or terminal at a time. Please be considerate of others and return the machine to the Main log-in screen. Do not make any changes to configurations, such as screen colors, sizes, or positions. The installation of any software application by student users is prohibited. To protect the hardware and minimize future costs, NO food or drinks are allowed in the computer labs. Be courteous to others working in the facility and try not to disturb them by working loudly when in groups. Keep personal stereos with headphones turned down low. Anyone who is violating facility policies or disturbing other users may be asked to leave the lab, and escorted by campus police if necessary.

Etiquette & Policies 1. Identification is required to ensure only authorized use of your facility. 2. Cellular phones should be turned down as low as possible. Use them only in the designated phone area or outside of the lab. 3. When seeking assistance from the IT Staff or lab monitors, treat them with the same dignity and respect you wish to be treated. They will in turn give you service with a smile. They are here to assist you, and will do so to the best of their ability. 4. Someone else will use the system after you; please leave the PC and workspace the way you would like to find it. Customizing the computer system and desktop is not authorized. 5. When completing your work please close the program(s) you are using. 6. If you encounter a problem with the computer, report it to the Help Desk immediately! 7. Please return the chair under the table when you leave, and do remember your personal items when leaving your work area. 8. Observe the food/drink prohibition policy. Food bits damage the computers, especially monitors, keyboards, and mice. Spilled liquids can destroy electronic equipment while posing an increased hazard from electrical shock. Please no food or drinks! 9. Do not touch the monitor. Touching the monitor screen leaves behind oil from the hands. This oil impairs other users from effectively using the system and can cause potential damage to the monitor.
