Using the ALIVE TUNING REMAP INTERFACE CONSOLE

Congratulations on your purchase of the finest bespoke performance remap chip tuning available for your Land Rover! This is a quick guide to tell you how to read your Land Rover's engine management firmware and load a tailor-made Alive Tuning remapped software back onto your vehicle's ECU (Electronic Control Unit). If you have any questions or are in doubt about the procedure do not hesitate to contact us at +44 1472 812900 or [email protected]!

WARNINGS - for your safety  Make sure you know your local legal requirements. In some countries ECU remaps may be used on closed routes or off-road only.  Please note that ECU remapping will invalidate the manufacturer's waranty.  Do not disconnect the ATRIC device from either the diagnostics connector in your vehicle or from your computer during reading or writing operations.  Follow instructions of ATRIC Console software and ATRIC device closely.  Turn off all electrical and electronic devices on your car before connecting the ATRIC device.  Turn off the ignition, take vehicle out of gear and put on the emergency brake.

Instructions on using the ATRIC remap device and ATRIC Console PC software: 1. Download latest version of ATRIC Console software from: http://www.alivetuning.com/atric/atricconsole.zip DO NOT PLUG THE ATRIC INTO THE PC YET! 2. Install software (chose "run as Administrator" on Win 7 machines). 3. Restart computer. 4. Once restarted, plug the ATRIC module into your computer's USB port and it should automatically install the drivers. The program installs to C:\Atric. If prompted to locate the drivers, they are in this folder.

5. When drivers have been installed, run ATRIC Console ("run as Administrator" on Win 7 machines). 6. Press the 'Link' button, and select your vehicle from the list.

7. Confirm selection by clicking 'OK'. The ATRIC will be programmed with the appropriate information for your car.

8. Once programming is finished shut down ATRIC Console software and disconnect ATRIC device from PC. Make sure ignition is turned off, car is out of gear and emergency brake is put on. 9. Connect the ATRIC device to the OBD II of your Land Rover. It can be found in the fuse box underneath the steering wheel above the pedals.

10. Follow instructions on the device's display to download original map from vehicle's ECU. Use arrows up and down to navigate and 'Y' to confirm your selection. Switch ignition on when asked to. It is advisable that you clear the fault code memory (DTC codes) afterwards. Switch ignition off, then disconnect ATRIC device.

11. Once you’ve got the original file saved onto your ATRIC device, take it back to your PC and plug it back into the USB port. Transfer the original map file to your PC by clicking 'Read ORI'.

12. Save original map in an appropriate folder and then email it to [email protected], along with a full description of any modifications your car already has, and also about what you would like from your remap. 13. Now you have to wait for us to do our work. We normally should get back to you within a working day at most and send you a tuned file. Upload the tuned map onto the ATRIC device via the ATRIC console software on your PC. This is done by clicking 'Upload MOD' and pointing the software to the saved remap file. 14. Connect ATRIC device to your car's OBD II port and flash new file to the ECU by selecting "Write file to ECU" and then the remapped file. Confirm with 'Y'. Again, closely follow the instructions that show on the ATRIC device's display, esp. ignition on/off cycles (see Step 10). The writing process will take some time. Make sure you do not interfere with it! DON'T DISCONNECT DEVICE. DON'T SWITCH OFF IGNITION!

Now you are ready to experience your bespoke Alive tuning in action ...

ENJOY! What to do next ... You are experiencing a bespoke remap for your vehicle that was programmed by Alive Tuning according to your specifications, your car's individual set-up and the original fuel map of your vehicle. Try the remap for a while and in different conditions. If you think it needs to be changed at all (for example, if it is smoking, or has a flat spot), tell us at what rpm the problem occurs, and we will modify the remap file for you to try again. We're only happy if you are happy.

Preparing vehicle for a dealer visit Please note that the vehicle must be reverted back to the original map prior to any dealer visit if engine ECU software may be updated. A dealer software update to a remapped ECU might render the ATRIC device useless. Additionally, as remapping will invalidate the manufacturer's warranty it is further advisable to clear all fault codes (DTCs) after programming as some might otherwise be left outstanding.

Using ATRIC device as a DTC fault code reader The ATRIC device has a built-in fault code reader to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Just follow the instructions with the ATRIC device connected to your in-car OBD II diagnostic link connector. It is usually enough to put in the DTC code on an Internet search engine to get the relevant error definition. Please note that the ATRIC device shows both tested and untested diagnostic codes. Untested codes are invisible to the Land Rover dealers and should be disregarded.

Using EGR-off function If you are using one of our remaps with EGR-off function, the EGR valve itself will remain permanently inoperative to increase fuel efficiency, power output and keep the turbo and intercooler components cleaner. Yet, the closed valve may become coked with soot deposits over time which could cause poor EGR operation if the original map should be reinstalled. We advise, therefore, to fit an EGR blanking plate or complete removal kit to prevent this from happening.

Restoring ATRIC device to original setting 1. Write original map back to engines ECU (you can only reset the ATRIC to factory setting and thus unlock it from your car when the original map has been written back to the vehicle). 2. Connect ATRIC device to PC with supplied USB cable and run ATRIC Console software. 3. Click on 'Link' button to start communications between PC and ATRIC device. 4. Click 'Erase device' to completely erase device and return to factory setting.
