1. Introduction This Port Replicator provides single connection for people to connect mouse, keyboard, printer and scanner to their portable computer. It contains USB2.0, Serial, Parallel, Mouse, Keyboard Port and Ethernet Port. Easy USB installation makes adding new hardware in a breeze. No complex installation, IRQ setting and just plug-play.

Driver Installation When this station been plugged into PC USB port then system will sequentially install HUB, Ethernet, Serial Port, Parallel Port and PS2 Port. 6.1 Windows® 98 Installation 6.1.1 First HUB Port Installation 6.1.1.1 The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears as below, click on “Next” to continue.

Choose “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)” then click “Next”

The “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears as below, click on “Next” to continue.

Windows® 2000 installation When this station been plugged into PC USB port then system will sequentially install HUB, Ethernet, Serial Port, Parallel Port and PS2 Port. 6.3.1 First HUB Port Installation 6.3.1.1 The “Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appear as below. Click “Next” to continue.

6.3.1.2 The wizard starts to install device. Chose “Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)” then click “Next”.

6.3.2.3 Locate the driver files, select “CD-ROM Drivers” and “Specify a location”. Click “Next” to continue.

6.3.2.5 The Wizard search for drivers for device. Make sure the device driver that Windows® found is “d:\driver\Port Replicator\usb2.0 to ethernet adapter\windows” and then click on “Next” to continue.

6.3.2.6 When device search for driver, it may pop up a dialog box about “Digital Signature Not Found” and asking whether continue to installation. Click “Yes” to continue.

Windows® XP installation installation

When this station been plugged into PC USB port then system will sequentially install HUB, Ethernet, Serial Port, Parallel Port and PS2 Port. 6.4.1 First HUB Port Installation (Windows® will automatically install driver for this device) 6.4.2 Ethernet Installation 6.4.2.1

The “Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears as below. Chose “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and then click “Next” to continue.

6.4.2.2

Insert installation CD at CD-ROM, Select “Search for the best driver in these locations” and enable “Search removable media”, “Include this location in the search”. Locate detail driver files, type “D:\DRIVER\PORT REPLICATOR\USB2.0 TO ETHERNET ADAPTER\ WINDOWS” at dialog box and then click “Next” to continue.

When device search for driver, it may pop up a dialog box about “Digital Signature Not Found” and asking whether continue to installation. Click “Continue Anyway” to continue.

6.5

MAC O.S 9 Driver installation

When this station been plugged into MAC USB port, system will sequentially install HUB and PS2 Port. 6.5.1 Serial Port Driver installation 6.5.1.1 6.5.1.2 6.5.1.3

Power on your computer and make sure that the USB port is enabled and working properly. Insert the USB-Serial adapter software driver into the CD-ROM drive and copy the “D:\Driver\PORT REPLICATOR\MAC\MAC OS 9\SETUP.SIT” to the desktop from the CD-ROM. Run the SETUP.SIT from the desktop, it will auto run the program and create a PL-2303G on desktop.

Copy the “PL-2303G” to the “System Folder”-“Extensions”.

To make sure that your computer can use the device correctly, you have to check the “Apple System Profiler”-“Device and Volumes”. It will show the USB Device

6.5.2 Serial Port Driver Un-Installation If you want to remove the USB-Serial adapter driver, you can uninstall it by following the steps below: 6.5.2.1

Unplug the USB-Serial adapter from your MAC machine.

6.5.2.2

Remove the “PL-2303G” into the trash and then reboot your MAC machine.

MAC OS X Driver Installation

6.6.1 Serial Port Driver installation 6.6.1.1

Put the driver CD into the CD-ROM drive and copy the D:\Driver\PORT REPLICATOR\MAC\MAC OS X” folder to the desktop.

6.6.1.2

Explore the folder and extract the MD_PL2303_V105.zip, it will create a ProlificUSBSerial105.pkg.

Run the ProlificUSBSerial105.pkg and click “Continue” to install the driver.

6.6.1.4

Select a destination that you want to install the driver and click “Continue”.

Click “Upgrade” to install the software package.

After installed the driver, click “Close” to finish this procedure.

7 FAQ Q: Why system ask for driver at Windows98SE when install PS2 port? A: If your USB2.0 port is provided by PCI card then update your driver with your PCI card vendor. If your USB2.0 port is on-board then it won’t have this problem.
