1.Your customer may prefer the sound of the ring on Door 2 (D-2). There is no problem using either door connection. If you have DP-281M(Phone Intercom Module, then you must use the D l for the door and D2 for the Phone Intercom. 2.lf the polarity is wrong to the Door Box, the unit will ring, but there will be no voice and the Door Box LED will not glow at all. 3.Shorting the pair going to the door will cause the unit to ring, and will not damage anything. This means you can mount the unit overhead, or somewhere where you can't press the Box's button-using the existing door bell button(with a 300 ohms resister on one lead of the push button) to short the pair. 4.lf you are installing LINE-OUT to a telephone system, you will lose the Distinctive Ring between Door 1 & 2, since you will then hear the phone system's ring when the button is pushed. You could purchase a Tone Generator which would allow you to send the ring from the door over the customer's existing paging system. 5.0ptional chips are available which will let the unit ring more, fewer times, or only connect the Line-Out to the PBX, KSU, or phone-set without CO line to the LINE-IN. 6.The polarity between LINE-IN and LINE-OUT is reversed. If you notice something strange about the operation of the unit, try reversing the pair (T & R) at LINE-OUT. 7.How can the end user determine?how many phones they can connect to the Door Box Controller?

Check the REN (located on a sticker on the bottom of the phone) of all the phones, and add them up. The total number can not exceed the value 5 FCC Regulation). Most phones have a REN of 0.4 to 1.

The DoorBell Fon is a simple device to operate. Please read over the Q & A section to help you with the normal operations of this product.

"Ipress tlze ~ Z L ~ OofI tlze Z door station and the plzone will ring, however I can not talk on the phone"

"How do I answer my door or gate?"

Step I- Check the door station and see if it displays a dimmed LED light before the button is pressed. Press the button and see if the same LED light becomes brighter. If this does not occur then check the (+) and (-) connections on the DoorBell Fon controller (black box). This device is polarity sensitive, you may reverse the (+) and (-)wires. Step 2- If everything checks out ok and the problem persists report the problem to ACNC Customer Service.

Simply pick up your telephone. You will be automatically connected with the doorstation. Even if you have two door-stations connected. just pick up the telephone the controller will deteimine which door-station is calling.

"What iflpick up the phone after it has stopped ringing?" The DoorBell Fon?will ring your telephone 3 times, plus 25 more seconds. Let you answer the door. If you are unable to get to the telephone in time and when you pick up the telephone you hear a dial tone. Just press Flash?button, or hook switch your receiver. this will transfer you to the door station. (There are optional 1 or 8 ring chips available)

"What if1 am on the phone when someone comes to my door?" The DoorBell FonTMhas a built in call waiting. If you are on the telephone and someone pushes the button on the door-station yo11 will hear it signal on your telephone, just

"How will I know if it is an outside line or a door when my telephone rings?" The DoorBell FonT" generates its own ring tone for both Dl & D2 positions. You can distinguish the difference in rings by the duration of the rings. (E.g. an outside call lings for I second on, 2 seconds off, Dl on your controller will ring for 1 second on, 1 second off. D2 will ring 1 second on 112 second off, I second on and 1 second off ).

"Will the DoorBell FonTM affect my answering machine?" The DoorBell FonTM will not affect the operation of you answering machine. However, you can now have visitors at your door greeted by your answering machine. Your controller will ring you telephones through three ring cycles, just set your machine to 2 rings, the DoorBell FonTMwill handle the rest.

"Can the DoorBell FonTMopen my door for me?" Yes, with the purchase of the optional lock controller #DP28SW you can open any door or gate with a press of the "*"key.

"How many phones can I connect to the DoorBell FonTM?" There is no specific number of phones. The number is based on you Ringer Equivalency Number of all the devices on your telephone line. The operating range for the DoorBell Fon is between 4.6-5.0. You can calculate the total number by looking at the labeling on the bottom of all your telephones, caller ID units, and answering machines. This number is a FCC certification approving a telephone terminal product for d i i c t sale to the end user. The "RENnumber consists of a letter and number. Total all of the numbers for the total. If you exceed this number, you may need a ring booster.

"lf I answer the Door with dial tone at background?" The installation is wrong, the DoorBell Fon's Controller should be the first in series before all your phones.

"I press the button on the door station, but the plzone will not ring?" Step I- Make sure the LED light is displayed on the door box. Shalt the two screwsof tk door position on DoorBell Fon controller (black box) very fast. If the phone rings then you have a defective door station. Step 2- Contact ACNC customer service for repair or replacement.

" I can communicate with the door station, but I can not get a dial tone when I pick up the handset of the telephone" Step I - Unplug the power of the controller. if you still cannot get a dial tone check the fuse inside the DoorBell Fon controller (black box). There are two fuses inside the controller check both to make sure they are ok, if not then replace it. The bottom fuse is for the telephone line.(power fase 250VA. SAmp, Phone fase 250VA. 25Amp.) Step2 - While unplugging the DoorBell Fon controller listen for a dial tone. While powering up the controller again pick up the phone handset. if you get the door instead of the dial tone press "flash" on your telephone, if this leads to a dial tone then your phone set is a non-standard phone set. These non-standard phones set will send an incorrect signal to the DoorBell Fon controller. Resolution to the problem is to replace the phone set or to press "flash when the phone is picked up to hear a dial tone, or call ACNC technical support to order a special chip to correct this problem.

"My caller ID will not work with the DoorBell Fon"

Step I - Problem may be caused from the total REN (Ringer Equivalency Number) number of your telephone devices (answering machines, caller ID'S, and phone sets). The total REN number should be under 4.6. If you have more than 4.6 then you will need to add a ring booster. Step 2- If your REN number has less than 4.6, unplug the DoorBell Fon controller (black box) and replace the bottom fuse in the controller. Step 3- If an attempt at step 2 fails contact ACNC customer service for assistance.

"My phones will not ring?" Step I- Pick up the telephone handset press "flash" within two seconds of picking up the handset, you should be able to access the door station. If you can communicate with the door station, then the problem is the REN number on your line. If the REN number is above 4.6 then a ring booster in needed. Step 2- If you are not able to access the door with the "flash" key then go to the DoorBell Fon controller (black box). short the two screws of the door position (very fast). If the phone rings then check the wiring between the door station and controller.

"My door station makes afunrzy noise, almost like a motorboat?" Step I- This may be caused by a very sensitive microphone. Step 2- Contact ACNC customer service to replace either the microphone or door station. "

WhenI answer mz incoming call I get dre door sfationinstead of the incoming call?"

Step I - Reverse the tip and ring wire (usually green and red) of the telephone wall outlet. Step 2- If problem persists, you have a non-standard phone set, replace the phone set. or call ACNC technical support to order a special chip to correct this problem.

"All my phones ring except my answering machine or cordless plzone?" Reverse the tip and ring wires (usually green and red) of that telephones wall outlet. Or. there are some answering machines special made for the distinctive ring(C0 ring), the answering machoine will not answer the DoorBell Fon's ring.
