About us

UniCredit Management Consultancy is a strategic Unit set up in 2007. Due to its strategic relevance, the Unit has been positioned as a direct report of the UniCredit Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Paolo Fiorentino. The Unit is part of the Holding Company and aims to create a centre of excellence for strategic consulting and talent management at the service of all UniCredit Divisions.

Our Projects

Daily challenges from all the business areas and countries UniCredit Management Consultancy has already successfully completed a number of highly relevant projects within UniCredit. Since 2007 we developed projects in several countries: Italy, Germany and Austria as well as Poland, Turkey, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine and Czech Republic. The Unit has been serving the three Strategic Business Areas (Retail, Corporate, Investment Banking & Private Banking and Global Banking Services) of the Group; six Competence Lines out of seven (Organization, Chief Financial Officer - CFO, Credit Risk Officer - CRO, Audit, Legal & Compliance and Human Resources) and the unit named “CEE Divisionalization program” which coordinates the activities referred to the Divisionalization of the CEE countries. We completed projects in the following fields:  Business / revenues development: projects aimed at at increasing banking services revenues, margins and profitability from final customers (example: Launch the non –profit bank of Retail Italy Division, Revenue boost project for Corporate clients in CEE countries, GTB products opportunity mapping…)  Strategy redefinition: group wide strategically relevant initiatives, touching different topics, such as the Group Corporate Governance, the Group organizational model, the service model (example: Group Corporate Governance Program, Set Up of Internal Integrated System…)  Process redesign: projects focused on the (re)design of core banking processes, significantly impacting how excellent the bank or a function is perceived by the relevant stakeholders such as the internal / external customers, the regulators, the shareholders…(example: CEE credit enhancement, Conflict of Interest – process design, Decision making process…)  Project management: activities, typically supervising strategically relevant initiatives characterized by a width scope and / or a high degree of complexity (example: Unicredit-Capitalia integration, CIB restructuring…)

UniCredit Management Consultancy Top Line The team is led by Laura Penna, a UniCredit Senior Executive with extended external consulting experience. The Principal Office, formed by senior managers with a former and extended experience as partners of worldwide leading consulting firms, ensures clear supervision and direction on the project portfolio. The principals act as coaches for the team and point of reference for key clients.

Laura Penna Laura holds a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. After 10 years as consultant at Accenture Strategic Services, she moved to UniCredit as Head of Group Planning & Control. In 2007 she has been appointed Head of UniCredit Management Consultancy.

Roberto Lazzari

Gaspare holds a Degree in business management from Bocconi University. He started his career in 1998 in Paribas Corporate Banking and Private Equity. In 2000 he joined McKinsey & Co. In 2005 he moved to Morgan Stanley. In 2007 he re-joined McKinsey and in 2009 he was elected Partner. Since 2011: Principal of UMC

Roberto holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico of Milan. He completed roughly 20 years experience at Accenture, of which 7 as Partner. Since 2007 he joined UniCredit Management Consultancy as Principal.

Florian holds a PhD in Company Law from Munich University. Before joining UniCredit Management Consultancy, he worked 7 years at McKinsey & Co., of which 2 as Associate Principal. Florian is a Principal of UniCredit Management Consultancy since 2007.

MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management Over 10 years of which 5 at Value Partners Management Consulting (from associate to Engagement Manager) In UMC since 2008

Gianluca Longhi

Massimiliano holds a MSC in Management Engineering at Politecnico of Milan. He worked for 14 years in consulting, of which 8 spent at BCG (Principal since 2005), leading projects on Financial Services and Consumer Goods Industries. He joined UniCredit Management Consultancy in 2008

Gianluca holds a degree in Management Engineering at Politecnico of Milan. He started working in 1998 for Morgan Stanley and then he passed the last 7 years at McKinsey & Co. up to Associate Principal. He joined UniCredit Management Consultancy in 2008.

Marella holds a degree in Economics of International Institutions from Bocconi University in Milan. She worked 3 years as senior analyst in M&A at Lazard & Co. Investment Bank. Marella joined UniCredit Management Consultancy since 2009.
