GETTING INTO USC There’s more than one way to become a student at USC. Whether you are a recent school leaver or finished with school years ago, hold some qualifications or have never studied before, USC has an entry pathway for you.

COMPLETING YEAR 12

NOT A SCHOOL LEAVER?

Current Year 12 students apply online through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). Your application is assessed on your OP or Selection Rank. If you’re considering a gap year you still need to submit your QTAC application to secure your place.

Non-school leavers also apply through QTAC and your application will be assessed on prior study, professional qualifications and work experience. You may be required to complete a Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT).

Choosing your program You can select up to 6 options on your QTAC application. Talk to a USC program adviser about selecting the best programs for the career you want. They can help you work out what will work best for you and make sure you’ll meet the admission requirements for your selections.

Early Offer Guarantee Are you doing really well at school? Got what it takes to succeed at university? You could have your place at USC sorted in November with a USC Early Offer Guarantee. No need to wait for your Year 12 results or the QTAC offer round in January. Visit our website or speak to your school principal or career advisor.

Need a back-up plan? If you’re concerned that your Year 12 results might not be enough for your preferred program, consider USC’s Tertiary Preparation Pathway. In as little as six months you could be well on your way to earning the degree you want.

Can’t wait to start Uni? With USC you can study uni courses as you complete Year 11 and 12. Start working towards your degree and you could earn a guaranteed entry to most programs at USC. Ask USC about Headstart and Integrated Learning Pathway programs.

Get yourself ready for university Ready to try studying but not quite prepared to launch into a degree? USC’s Tertiary Preparation Pathway can be a great way to get started. Whether you need to brush up your academic skills, improve your eligibility for admission requirements or just want a taste of university life, a fee-free* TPP course can help you rise, and shine. * Tuition fees apply for international students.

STUDY USC 2017 UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES

Not sure if you’re ready for uni? USC’s Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) is a great way to brush up your study skills and get ready for uni. Even better, TPP is fee-free to domestic students and successful completion of the program will provide direct entry to most USC degrees.

Coming from TAFE or another uni? Your prior study will strengthen your application and may count toward your USC degree. USC also offers a range of dual programs in conjunction with TAFE QLD. Ask USC about credit for prior learning and TAFE articulation.

Raise your OP or Rank: The Access USC Bonus scheme may just give you the edge you need to earn a place in the degree program of your choice. Through Access USC or the QTAC Educational Access Scheme you may be eligible for a bonus of up to 3 OP points or 6 ranks. Visit USC online for more information.

I had this preconceived idea that university is for smart people but I did not have thoughts like “I’m in the wrong place” or “I am not smart enough to be here” mainly because I felt prepared due to completing TPP. It gave me a great grounding and I can highly recommend everyone do it.

Chris Bailey

Bachelor of Social Sciences (Psychology)

APPLY NOW!

Complete the TPP program and you can gain direct entry to most USC programs. Visit usc.edu.au/tpp for more information.

SCHOLARSHIPS When you study at uni, you’re making a personal investment. You’re investing your time and effort in your future. There’s a financial cost too and at USC we understand that sometimes it can be a challenge to make it all work. Scholarships give you freedom to focus on your study and, at USC, they aren’t just for high achievers. Scholarships and bursaries are also awarded to students who might need financial assistance or those who demonstrate other achievements such as sporting excellence or community activity. There is only one application form to submit to be considered for the many USC scholarships on offer. So what are you waiting for? Apply now and find the support you need to rise and shine.

In 2015 USC awarded more than 950 scholarships. Find one that’s right for you.

usc.edu.au/scholarships Financially the scholarship has been a great help to me. It has meant that I can dedicate more time to my studies instead of having to try and get more casual work while studying. Also, this scholarship gave me the benefit of tutoring for each of my subjects which was a major help in achieving the best results possible.

Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) Some of my best friends I met at USC’s Welcome Party while we were standing in line. That night we danced, ate and made heaps of friends. I love travel, the outdoors, rock climbing, hiking and camping. I joined USC Activate on campus in Welcome Week and have already been on camping and rocking climbing adventures. I want to be able to make a difference in children’s lives. I value how very young children are educated. It’s important that as each child develops they get the love, nurturing and care they need to reach their potential.
