All Parish Volunteers

Waldemar Mazur & Joanna Sztark

Lectors, ministers of Holy Communion, catechists, coaches, Scout leaders, Ministers of Care, classroom aids, room moms, lunch workers etc. all need to fill out the annual Child Abuse Neglect Tracking System (CANTS) Form. These forms are available in the Parish Office and on line on the parish website. To continue serving as a volunteer the Archdiocese requires that the forms be completed by September 1, 2014. NOTE: School volunteers return the form to the school office. Parish volunteers return them to the parish office. We will mail the forms for you. Thank you.

Compass Blood Pressure Screening Volunteers will offer blood pressure screenings next weekend after the 5 p.m., 8 a.m. and 10 a.m Masses. High blood pressure is known as a “Silent Killer” since very often the individual experiences no symptoms. Regularly monitoring blood pressure is short and simple so stop in the back of Church next weekend. Remember, it is a quick way to care for our health!

Stewardship - Thoughts on Giving “Lord, what do You want me to do today with all the gifts You have given me?” Then be sure to listen for His response throughout each day. As baptized disciples of Jesus Christ we continue to support the parish first and foremost through our prayers and through our giving back to God in return for all His blessings given to us. There are four ways of giving to God. 1.  Planned giving: Money is designated in the household budget for the Lord.  2.  Priority giving: Give to God first before all other expenses.  3.  Percentage giving: A percentage is given instead of a dollar amount.  4. Progressive giving: The percentage is increased at a regular interval. These four ways of giving are not based solely on the need for money; but more importantly on our need to give.

Leisure Club meeting The Leisure Club will meet on Thursday, August 21st, at 11:30 A.M. in the Queen Of Peace room. For information, please call Joanie Ptak at 312-608-4092. God’s blessings to all!

Year of Sacraments/Rok Sakramentow

Jesus said that we should earnestly try to enter by the narrow gate, the only passageway that leads to salvation. The Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist—and most especially Baptism open the gate of salvation. By joining us in a real relationship with him who is the way and the truth and the life, these sacraments open the path to new and eternal life. If the forces of sin and death seemed at one time to conspire to hold us bound and even seemed to have the upper hand, we now stand in the wonder of the free children of God. We now have access to healing, forgiveness, and the fullness of life through the sacraments that bring Jesus, the redeemer, and his saving work into our lives. The narrow gate is now the open gate, and this gate is Jesus.

Jezus powiedział, że powinniśmy wytrwale próbować wchodzić przez wąską bramę, jedyną drogę prowadzącą do zbawienia. Sakramenty inicjacji—chrzest, bierzmowanie i Eucharystia — szczególnie jednak chrzest, otwierają nam bramę zbawienia. Dzięki sakramentom dającym nam Jezusa, Zbawiciela wnoszącego swe zbawcze dzieło w nasze życie, mamy dostęp do uzdrowienia, przebaczenia i pełni życia.

Święty Michale Archaniele! Wspomagaj nas w walce, a przeciw niegodziwości i zasadzkom złego ducha bądź naszą obroną. Oby go Bóg pogromić raczył, pokornie o to prosimy, a Ty, Wodzu niebieskich zastępów, szatana i inne złe duchy, które na zgubę dusz ludzkich po tym świecie krążą, mocą Bożą strąć do piekła. Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, —by the power of God—thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. 5
