2013-2014 Season The Dance Project offers a 38-week dance program that culminates with a dance recital in June. Tuition is paid in four equal, quarterly payments and is based on a family’s total number of hours danced each week. Tuition is due the first week of each quarter. RECITAL WEEK: June 8-June 12 NO CLASSES: Sept. 2; Nov. 28-29, Dec. 22-Jan. 5; March 23-March 30; May 26 REGISTRATION/TUITION • Register early to avoid waiting lists or cancelled classes. Classes will not run unless the minimum of five (5) students is met. If a class gets cancelled due to low enrollment, the studio will try to accommodate students elsewhere. • Registration is available at any time. Tuition rate will be determined by number of classes remaining in the quarter. Classes will progress throughout the year, so register as early as possible. •There is a $20 annual registration fee per family, which is non-refundable. • Payment is due in full the first week of each quarter. Late fees of $10 will be enforced on all accounts that are 10 days past due. There is a $25 fee for all returned checks. There are no refunds on tuition once a session begins. Studio credits may be issued. ATTENDANCE Please call the studio if you will be missing class. Attendance is very important. Poor attendance can result in moving a student to a lower level class. Teachers have the right to remove students from a performance if attendance is a problem, even if a recital costume has been paid for. There is no pro-rating of missed classes. Classes may be made up within the current session. APPEARANCE All students are required to wear appropriate dance attire to class. No school or play clothes, loose fitting t-shirts, jeans, baggie shorts or pants. Hair must be tightly secured and off the neck. Ballet students are required to wear a solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and a bun in their hair. Please mark your name inside all shoes, bags, coats etc. and bring any valuables into class with you. Check the lost and found for any misplaced items before the end of the month, as unclaimed items are donated at the end of each month. PLACEMENT The placement of each student is at the instructor’s discretion. If a student is enrolled in a class that is not appropriate, it is to the advantage of the student that they are placed in the correct class. WEATHER If the weather is questionable, please call the studio to confirm classes are being held. Cancelled classes will be left on the studio’s voice mail. If a class is cancelled, you may make it up in any class of your choice.

TEACHING STAFF Vanessa Castellano began dancing at the age of three at Dancing Feet Dance Studio. She is trained in jazz, ballet, lyrical/contemporary, Broadway, hip hop, and poms. She was a member of the nationally competitive Illini Dance Team at the University of Illinois from 20052009, serving as the Captain for the 2008-2009 season. Upon graduating from college, Vanessa has earned her BA in English and continued on to Roosevelt University's Graduate program. There she completed her graduate work in Secondary Education and received her teaching certificate in English Secondary Education. She is currently an English teacher at Hampshire High School, where she is also the Head Coach of the Varsity Poms Team. Kelly Delprincipe graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BFA in theater arts with an emphasis on dance performance. Kelly was the artistic director of the St. Charles School of Dance for 22 years and is now on staff at The Studio in St. Charles. Many of Kelly’s students have gone on to achieve successful dance careers on cruise lines and companies world wide. Currently, one of Kelly’s students is the dance captain for Justin Bieber on the Believe Tour. We are thrilled to have Kelly back on staff at The Dance Project. She looks forward to sharing her high energy, love and passion for dance with everyone. Sue Garcia is the founder and owner of Sue Garcia Fitness, a fitness company based out of the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She provides fitness classes to corporation’s, community education facilities, park districts, wellness centers and more. Sue has been teaching fitness classes and personal training since 1999. Sue holds 3 national certifications in Pilates and 5 other national fitness certifications. Before entering the fitness field, Sue was a 1st grade teacher for 7 years. Lisa Gomez became the director of The Dance Project when she took over Dancing Feet Dance Studio in 2008. She holds a B.S. degree in marketing from Eastern Illinois University. Lisa has been dancing her entire life and has studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and musical theater. She has been teaching dance throughout the northwest suburbs for over 27 years and continues to study, research and find new approaches to her teaching methods.

Sammy Gonzalez is trained in hip-hop, jazz, lyrical and modern. He has gained his versatility in dance by attending various classes, workshops and intensives, including The Pulse Dance Convention (which he won a scholarship to); Star Systems Talent master classes and I.aM.mE workshops. Sammy has taken class with high profile instructors such as Trae Turner, Wade Robson, Tyce Diorio, Chachi Gonzales, Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb to name a few. He has danced and competed with several companies including Aspirations Dance Company, Dance Stellar Productions and The Dance Project and has won numerous awards at both the regional and national level. Sammy is currently on staff at several studios throughout the Chicago area. Sammy loves working with kids and welcomes the opportunity to share his talents and passion for dance at The Dance Project. Debbie Gurvitz started dancing at the age of three at Dancing Feet Dance Studio, which is now the Dance Project. She has taught and performed ballet, hip-hop, jazz, modern, tap, and musical theater. While in high school, she was a 4-year member of Fremd Orchesis. She has broadened her dance experience all over Chicagoland and has danced with numerous companies including Dancing Feet Dance Company, Excel Dance Productions, Touch Dance Ensemble, and the Collective Hip Hop. Debbie has performed all over the country including Walt Disney World, Carnival Cruiselines, and ESPN Company Dance Nationals to name a few. She continued her passion for dance at the University of Iowa, earning a dance minor and a B.A. in communication studies. In addition to teaching dance, Debbie is also a certified personal trainer. Brian Hare is originally from Bloomfield Hills, MI where he studied and taught jazz, tap, ballet and modern before moving to Chicago to attend Columbia College, from which he graduated with honors and a B.A. in business management and dance. He has studied dance for over 20 years and has trained nationally at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in New York City as well as at Dance Masters of America’s Teachers Training Program in Buffalo, NY. Brian is currently a company member with Thodos Dance Chicago and is a former company member of Chicago Dance Crash, Corpo Dance Company and a guest artist for Cerqua Rivera Dance Theater.

TEACHING STAFF Cheryl M. Leahy has studied acrobatics, tumbling, jazz, tap, ballet, drama and voice from various instructors since age three. She has been teaching for over 24 years in various locations. Cheryl enjoys performing, directing and choreographing with the theater in her spare time. She has performed numerous roles in musicals since age seven, including “Annie”, “Sound of Music”, and “42nd Street.” Cheryl adds a new approach to her routines as well as to all of her classes. Carolyn Lubecker was the Director of Dancing Feet Dance Studio for 20 years. She has been teaching for over 27 years. She teaches tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz and tumbling for ages three through adult. Many of her students have been accepted into prestigious college and summer dance programs. She is certified through CNADM. Carolyn continues to take classes at various Chicago studios. She holds a BA in English from Northwestern. Kelli Myhre-Bahwell has been dancing since the early age of three. She has been teaching dance at various studios in the Chicagoland area for the past 24 years. She received a B.S. degree in Dance from Illinois State University. She also has two AAS degrees in Art; one from Elgin Community College and the other, specializing in graphic design, from The Illinois Institute of Art, Schaumburg. Kelli has been a performer and choreographer in numerous dance competitions and conventions and has received many choreography awards. Her profession has taken her to many places including England and Guatemala, where she was an International choreographer/teacher, hired to teach master classes and be a co-creator for an entire dance concert. Tammy Patrician has a B.A. in dance from Columbia College. She has taught in the Northwest suburbs for the past 23 years, including Dancing Feet Dance Studio. Tammy is a certified member of CNADM. After many years of respect for various dance forms, including ballet and acro dance, she continues to study the processes in technique to enhance her dancers.

Tony Sudaholnik BIO COMING SOON Nora Tonge received her early dance training at Gould Academy of Dance Arts in Elgin, Illinois and currently holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While attending the U of I, she was selected to perform in Cabaret directed by Robert Anderson, as well as many other faculty pieces. She also instructed a university level dance course during her tenure at Illinois. Nora is a graduate of the Broadway Dance Center Summer Intern Program in New York City and has assisted the Radio City Rockettes for the Rockette Experience at Radio City Music Hall. She has worked with choreographers Paige Cunningham, David Kent, Brice Mousset, Ginger Cox, Jim Cooney and Sahar Azimi. We are excited to welcome Nora to The Dance Project staff! April Venzon has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She began dancing at Dancing Feet and studied under Carolyn Lubecker for 14 years, taking ballet, jazz, company, lyrical, modern, and tumbling classes. April just graduated in May 2012 from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was on the official dance team, the Illinettes. April danced at all football and basketball games for the fighting Illini. She has taught dance and worked at various summer camps and is excited to teach for Lisa at The Dance Project!
