DISTANCE Athletes competing in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs need to build an aerobic distance base. Daily workouts are to include easy runs of 2 to 4 miles depending on athlete’s condition. Interval workouts such as the following can be used once a week for 1600 and 3200 meter athletes and twice a week for 800-meter athletes: 1. 1600/3200 Meter Run A. 4 - 8 x 400 m B. 3 - 4 x 800 m 2. 800 Meter Run A. 2 x 5 x 200 m B. 4 - 5 x 300 m C. 3 x 600 m D. 6 x 150 m
