Transforming digital publishing We help our clients protect and grow the value of their content assets online.

Our products enable the online delivery and monetisation of scholarly journals, reference works, ebooks and other academic and professional content. We were founded in 1999 by a group of people from publishing backgrounds passionate about the potential of digital technology. We’ve since gone from strength to strength. Our head office is in Brighton, one of the UK’s leading digital hubs and the source of much of our talent. We work for publishers, publishing intermediaries, associations, institutions and scholarly societies in the UK, Europe and the US. Our clients include Oxford University Press, Nature Publishing Group, Taylor & Francis Group and McGraw-Hill Professional.

What we do We deliver innovative products and services that maximise the discoverability and value of scholarly content online.

We have two core products - Scolaris and SAMS. Scolaris is our next generation integrated content platform engineered to manage the complex needs of scholarly journals, reference works, ebooks and other scholarly and professional content. SAMS is our flexible and fully customisable authentication and access management system. We use our experience and expertise to enable our clients to achieve a unique degree of control over their digital publishing programmes, manage organisational change and maximise commercial value across the full diversity of their content offering. We lead and inform debate by attending and speaking at industry conferences across Europe and the US, holding our own publisher events, and through our popular blog.

“Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with many commenting that DramaOnline is easy to use the number one criteria for a successful academic platform” Jenny Ridout Head of Drama Publishing, Bloomsbury

Our products

scolaris The award-winning integrated content platform Scolaris is our integrated content platform. Scholarly communication is moving fast under the impact of digital technologies and we’ve developed Scolaris to help our clients identify and profit from new opportunities and keep ahead of the curve. Scolaris integrates multiple content types including journals, ebooks, reference works and multimedia with minimal configuration. This enables you to take full and cost-effective advantage of synergies between different content types in a single platform. This integrated approach to digital content drives improved discoverability and usage and creates additional value for researchers. See our Scolaris brochure or go to: www.semantico.com/scolaris

Scolaris Linking Hub Link, discover, monetise The Scolaris Linking Hub makes federated search and related article linking across multiple platforms cost-effective, enabling you to link and monetise content from previously disparate sources. This simple, scalable way to link diverse content together across multiple sites brings significant benefits including opportunities to repackage and repurpose content into enhanced products; connected and contextualised content for up-selling and cross-selling; and longer user sessions, improved discoverability and SEO. See our Scolaris brochure or go to: www.semantico.com/linking-hub

Scolaris Reader Liberate your PDFs The Scolaris Reader is a browser-based PDF reader with DRM. It enables the delivery of rights-managed PDF ebooks through a variety of business models, including sale and rental. The Scolaris Reader liberates you from the constraints of generic PDF readers (such as Adobe Reader) that struggle to accommodate particular layouts or designs without significant compromise to content and user experience. The Scolaris Reader interface can be customised and publisherbranded as appropriate and fully supports XML metadata to aid full discoverability. See our Scolaris brochure or go to: www.semantico.com/scolaris-reader

The industry-leading access management system SAMS is a powerful, flexible and fully customisable authentication and access management system, built to handle the complex authentication and access issues created when students, academics and professionals access publisher platforms through institutional or personal subscriptions. SAMS supports all access models for journals, ebooks, reference works and directories across multiple devices. SAMS protects and grows digital revenues for more than 300 sites worldwide and processing over 50 million API requests per month. See our SAMS brochure or go to: www.semantico.com/sams
