How to get here By train and tram

Stay over

Travelling by train to Sheffield is easy. We’re on all the mainline routes across the UK. From the train station there’s a tram roughly every ten minutes to campus. The journey takes about ten minutes. Get the blue line towards Malin Bridge and ask for a ticket to the University.

If you’d like to spend more time in Sheffield before or after your open day, we can recommend some great hotels, B&Bs and restaurants. This gives you a chance to explore the city further and get a feel for it. We even have our own boutique hotel, Halifax Hall Hotel.

Our student ambassadors will be at the train station all day so if you need any help, please ask them.

Possible delays

By coach National Express nationwide coach service has connections from around the country that stop at the Sheffield Transport Interchange, Pond Street. Megabus Coaches also stop at the Meadowhall Interchange which is accessible by Supertram from the city centre.

The University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council are working together to transform the public spaces around our city campus. There’ll be new and improved crossings on Western Bank and Upper Hanover Street, pedestrianisation of a number of streets, new cycle routes, lots more trees and plants and some great integrated public art.

By car

While this work is going on there will be road closures which could cause some delays, so please allow extra time for your journey.

There are a range of parking options available in the city centre. We recommend checking the Sheffield City Council web pages for travel, parking advice and a map of public car parking available at: www.sheffield.go.uk/roads

Use our interactive map to help you find your way around campus and sign up for our weekly updates so you can be prepared before your visit: check-my-route.group.shef.ac.uk

There are a couple of multi-story car parks located in the city centre that are operated by Q-park. There are also two of these located on the University campus on Durham Road and Solly Street. For locations and prices see: www.q-park.co.uk/parking/ sheffield
