QUALITY SYSTEMS & INSPECTION FOR PRESSURE EQUIPMENT CONSTRUCTION – 3 DAYS

In this seminar, you will study what quality system and inspection requirements are for pressure equipment construction under the Safety Codes Act, Pressure Equipment Safety Regulation, and CSA B51 code. The seminar modules will examine all stages of quality systems concepts and design of a quality manual for the construction of pressure equipment with a focus on ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and adopted codes. REGULATORY INFORMATION FOR POWER ENGINEERS – 1 DAY Regulatory Information for Power Engineers Seminar is intended to broaden one’s knowledge in the legislation requirements for those who maintain, repair and operate pressure equipment that as described in the Power Engineers Regulation. The seminar will address essential areas of the Safety Codes Act and subsidiary legislation related to the operation of pressure equipment subject to the Act. The intent is to streamline individual regulatory responsibilities for operation of pressure equipment and to support the understanding of the processes that are administered by ABSA. What Will You Learn?  Describe the intent of the Power Engineers Regulation  Explain the Safety Codes Act and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulation as it pertains to Power Engineers  Describe supervision requirements within a plant  Explain deficiencies commonly found during an inspection of a plant  Describe required log book entries  Explain penalties under the Power Engineers Regulation  Explain qualifications for Power Engineers  Describe the duties and responsibilities of Chief Power Engineers (e.g., repairs, alterations, maintenance, training, etc.)  Discuss requests for the issuance of temporary certificates Who Should Attend? PRESSURE EQUIPMENT SAFETY REGULATION SEMINAR – 1 DAY IN-HOUSE This seminar presents an overview of requirements for the full life cycle of pressure equipment with an outline of the following topics:  About ABSA;  Legislation;  Design and design registration;  Construction;  In-service operation and integrity assessment;  Repairs and alterations;  And incident reporting. This seminar will not cover the scope of the codes and standards but would be particularly valuable for those who wish to have a high level understanding of pressure equipment safety requirements under Alberta legislation.

PRESSURE EQUIPMENT SAFETY LEGISLATION FOR ENGINEERING & EPC COMPANIES – 1 DAY IN-HOUSE This seminar will deliver an overview to ABSA and other organizations involved in the regulation of pressure equipment safety in Alberta, with reference to the Safety Codes Act and regulations. The requirements of the adopted codes, standards and bodies of rules will be discussed. Emphasis will focus on design registration requirements for pressure equipment that the company is involved with (e.g. pressure piping, boilers, pressure vessels, repairs) and the areas where problems occur. Time will be spent reviewing several key documents that must be submitted for design registration and on completion of piping jobs. Where pressure piping design and installation are concerned, overpressure protection requirements in both power plants and pressure plants will be addressed, as well as pressure testing requirements. Reference will be made to the inspections that ABSA is mandated to perform during the construction of a plant or other pressure equipment and that a construction project must allow for. ABSA is prepared to deliver customized versions of this seminar to engineering and EPC companies upon request, depending on the response from engineering and EPC companies.

COMING SOON AB-525 Overpressure Protection Requirements for Pressure Vessels and Pressure Piping Seminar In this new seminar, you will discover the requirements for over pressure protection as it applies to pressure piping and pressure vessels that are subject to the Safety Codes Act. An emphasis will be placed on overpressure requirements and cases where the use of Pressure Relief Valves is mandatory, design registration requirements, owner IMS requirements, change to design, owner PEIMS requirements, piping and pressure vessels protected by OPPSD, change of ownership, revision logs and legislative and regulatory requirements of AB-525 to name a few.
