The Cheyenne hunted. They hunted bison, elk, deer. They used every part of the animal. They never wasted.

*The Cheyenne wore shirts made from deer skin. *They wore dresses made from bison, deer, and elk skin, porcupine quills, and beads. *They wore breechcloths made from deer and elk skins. *They wore leggings made from deer skin, elk’s teeth, porcupine quills

*The women made tepees *They made tepees out of animal skin like bison *They killed eight to twelve bison to make one tepee

Advantages of Environment

*The Cheyenne had plenty of good animals to hunt *They had good farmland. *They had a lot of water. *They could gather berries and fruit easily. *Their weather was usually good. *Their houses were really good because they could let cold air in and hot air out. *They had fast horses to go to places and to hunt down animals for food. *They traded for guns from the Europeans to help them hunt. *Their houses could fit a whole family or even two! *They had stuff like shells to make jewelry. *They had lots of choices of clothes to wear.

*They could be out numbered easily by nearby tribes (like Black Kettle) *Did not have many fish *The Europeans brought diseases *It was difficult to drag the bison back home

*The Iroquois had land covered with dense forests of pine, oak, maple, and ash. *The Iroquois used the wood from the trees in many different ways. *They used it to make many different items such as houses, canoes, and different things to store food like bowls. *They were also surrounded by hills. *The forests had many rivers, lakes, and streams.

*The Nez Perce mostly wore clothes made from skins of the animals they hunted *MEN wore long fringed shirts made of deer skin. *Women wore long belted dresses made from deer skin.

*The Pueblo people grew most of their food. *They ate foods that they grew well in the Southwest climate. *Their main foods were corn, squash, beans, and, peppers. *Pueblo people still eat and prepare foods as they did a long time ago. *Pueblo people grew more than 20 types of corn. *They gathered nuts, and other wild plants. *The fruit of most cactus plants could be eaten. *This included the prickly pear. *Hunting was the men’s job. *Pueblo hunters used bows, arrows, spears, and, throwing sticks. They hunted deer, antelope, and rabbits.And birds for their feathers.
