Key Responsibilities The Trade Marketing Team at Tourism New Zealand plays a key support function for the offshore trade teams, ensuring a relevant and comprehensive trade training programme, famil programme, and offshore-event schedule. This role will be responsible for:
Supporting the Product Development Manager in the design and development of appropriate product development tools to influence trade and the way they sell New Zealand
Providing assistance in the development of TNZ’s global trade training tools, in alignment with marketing campaign and offshore market needs
Communications to offshore teams for dissemination to international travel trade

Developing and keeping updated training module content and general content on the travel trade website
Build and maintain expert product knowledge of New Zealand tourism products.
Provide advice and guidance to New Zealand industry on how to engage with TNZ, our key international markets and developing their products to best suit market needs
KEY TASKS
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Support the development of global trade training tools, in alignment with offshore market needs.
Support Product Development Managers in developing training tools and a trade support programme
Provide communication tools for offshore teams to update and develop international travel trade knowledge
Write regular product updates and features for the Travel Trade Website
Assist in education and training of offshore teams in line with campaigns, special interest and sector work
Development of itineraries as they relate to campaign work
Provide design and content collation assistance to the Product Development Manager to help develop global training tools
In line with campaign and offshore market needs
Ensure travel trade website training modules are up to date and meeting offshore market needs
Ensure regular review of module results in conjunction with offshore markets
Develop and keep updated trade website tools and resources
Regular updates to ensure relevant and up to date content is captured on trade resource pages eg: Hobbit Zone
Write travel trade newsletter
Regular updates to offshore teams to share special interest and sector product information
Assist in development of training tools and presentations for sectors and special interests

Ensure 100% New Zealand Specialist online modules are up to date and are meeting offshore market needs Ensure regular review of modules in conjunction with offshore markets and Product Development Managers Assist in the development and implementation of new sector modules in conjunction with Product Development Manager Assist the Trade Development Manager and Online Trade Manager with translation and rollout of online modules and foreign language versions of the trade website.
Provide advice and guidance to New Zealand industry on how to engage with TNZ, our key international markets and developing their products to best suit market needs
Offer advice and guidance to new and existing product and Inbound Tour Operator (ITO) startups on developing their business and how to engage with TNZ
Attend New Zealand industry events as and when required
Present to the industry on trade development topics if and when required
Share TNZ trade training best practises across TNZ offshore markets
Include in bi-monthly video conferences with offshore markets and other communication channels when appropriate
Provide planning and operational support for TNZ’s familiarisation programme
Organise and deliver famils as an when required Manage famils within budget and communicate the value of famils to NZ industry Communicate famil results and feedback to NZ industry
Monitor competitor trade programmes

Experience and Qualifications: Proven competence and experience in a product role Knowledge of the New Zealand tourism industry and international travel distribution channels Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint Initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work without supervision Demonstrated ability to develop effective internal and external relationships Enthusiastic interpersonal style that promotes effective interpersonal communication Strong writing and editing skills Understanding of the New Zealand brand and global marketing initiatives would be an advantage Knowledge and experience in tourism marketing would be an advantage A tertiary qualification in Tourism, Marketing or Business Studies and/or sound experience in event management role/s would be an advantage Second language skills in Japanese, Chinese, Korea, German, Spanish or Portuguese would be an advantage, but are not a prerequisite for the role Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required Updated: June 2015
