Welcome to Auckland Check in to the hotel and relax and unwind. Perhaps have a little afternoon nap, a stroll down to the Viaduct Harbour or head over to Queen Street to get in a bit of shopping.

Morning: Free time to explore Auckland Catch up on some sleep, or use this time to get a feel for the Auckland CBD.

Afternoon: Waikehe Island Adventure Afternoon and Dinner at Casita Miro

Retail Visit: Meat on Ponsonby and Neat Meat, Ponsonby This morning we will kick off our retail visits with a trip to Ponsonby Road. We will visit Neat Meat, a store situated within a unique retail space and Meat On Ponsonby, a independently owned store on the bustling main street.

Farm Visit: Cornwall Park Farm The Farm at Cornwall Park is a beef and sheep farm on just over 130 hectares of land. What makes this farm unusual is it’s location in the middle of Auckland City.

Retail Visit: Westmere Butchery Westmere Butchery is a family owned and operated business in the heart of Auckland City. If we’re lucky they may give us a taste of their award winning sausages!

Retail Visit: New World Victoria Park New World Victoria Park is a supermarket located in Auckland’s CBD, with an impressive butchery department and serve-over.

2014 Retail Visit: Seaside Gourmet Meats Seaside Gourmet Meats is a traditional family owned retail butchery located in the seaside subrurb of Howick.

Retail Visit: PAK’nSAVE, Albany PAK’nSAVE supermarkets are high volume stores and pride themselves on their policy of ‘New Zealand’s lowest food prices’. This morning we will visit the butchery department at the Albany supermarket.

Dinner at Halletau Brewbar and Restaurant

Retail Visit: Aussie Butcher Henderson This is one for all the Aussies on the tour! The Aussie Butcher is a New Zealand owned company that has been trading since 1984. The owner Keith Oddy was born in Australia and learnt the trade in Melbourne. Today there are seven Aussie Butcher stores around New Zealand.

Factory Visit: Hellers is NZ’s largest producer of small goods and this morning we will be visiting one of their factories.

Free Time This free day provides another opportunity for the Tri-Nations teams to do some last minute preparation.

Centralised Processing Plant Visit Countdown, an Australian owned supermarket chain, do all of their processing in a centralised location. We will take a wander through this morning, before heading back to the hotel for a free afternoon.

Free Afternoon This free afternoon provides an opportunity for the Tri-Nations teams to do some preparation while the rest of us enjoy an afternoon off. Dinner at Jervois Steakhouse

Alto Young Butcher & Competenz Butcher Apprentice Grand Final and Tri-Nations Butchers’ Challenge It’s D-Day! The Alto Young Butchers, Competenz Butcher Apprentices and Tri-Nations team will all be competing. This will be followed by an industry dinner where the winning Apprentice, Young Butcher and Tri-Nations team will be announced. All will take place at an Auckland waterfront icon, Shed 10.
