Top Tips for Buying Crisps Look at the salt or sodium content per 100g and choose crisps with the lowest values. Choose multi-packs over individual bags as the packets are smaller Opt for plain flavour crisps, which tend to have fewer additives than other flavours. Check what they are cooked in, sunflower oil, ‘high oleic’ sunflower oil or olive oil are all good. If it just says vegetable oil it is usually palm oil which is less healthy.

Salt is also called sodium chloride. It is the sodium in salt that can be bad for your health. You have been advised to restrict the amount of sodium you consume in your diet. By reading food labels you can make better choices and choose foods lower in sodium. Always check the salt or sodium content per 100g on the labels of the foods that you eat.
