Andy Murray – Cromlix House Dunblane, UK

Tennis champion and much-loved Scotsman Andy Murray purchased Cromlix House in 2013, after which followed extensive refurbishment before the Victorian mansion reopened as a

five-star 15-bedroom hotel, complete with two tennis courts created in Wimbledon’s patented purple livery.

Just three miles from Murray’s hometown of Dunblane, The Cromlix boasts 34 acres of land and a traditional Scottish style, featuring open fires, thick pile carpets, a whiskey room and a grand games room, where mounted stags heads adorn the walls.

David Coulthard – Columbus Monte-Carlo Monaco

It is of little surprise that British former Formula One driver David Coulthard chose to open a hotel in Monte-Carlo, not far from the Circuit de Monaco. Formerly a three-star hotel, Coulthard transformed Columbus Monte-Carlo into the “first art of living hotel”, with a focus on chic simplicity.

Today, the hotel is owned by the London & Regional group, but continues to annually host the winner of the Monaco Grand Prix. Guests can expect comfort and elegance in each of the 181 rooms and suites, all offering balconies and views of the Rose Garden or the Mediterranean Sea.

Robert De Niro – The Greenwich Hotel New York City, USA

The unofficial major of New York’s Tribeca neighbourhood, De Niro already owned restaurants Nobu and TriBeCa Grill when he opened the Greenwich Hotel in 2008. De Niro aimed to create something comfortable and gracious yet entirely unique in this hotel, where no two rooms are alike and boast finer details such as hand-laid Moroccan tile or Italian Carrara marble in the bathrooms

Elizabeth Hurley – No 11 Cadogan Gardens London, UK

Formerly owned by actress, model and brand ambassador Elizabeth Hurley, No 11 Cadogan Gardens prides itself for its interior design, boasting 56 unique guest rooms furnished with objects d’art from all over the world.

The hotel is befittingly located in the exclusive shopping district of Sloane Square, where guests can enjoy discounts in a handful of local boutiques and fashion powerhouses. Although no longer owned by Hurley, the actress considers No 11 Cadogan Gardens her favourite hotel in London and continues to visit regularly – as recently as last month!

Robert De Niro – City of Dreams Nobu Manila, Phillippines

The second offering from entrepreneur De Niro is co-owned by Michelin-starred chef Nobu Matshuhisa, in order to create a ‘City of Dreams’ resort which combines a luxury five-star hotel with fine dining and a world-class entertainment complex.

Where The Greenwich is understated in its elegance, Nobu Manila is the opposite, with a striking gold-tinted exterior. Open since May last year, the interior design is modern yet luxurious and guests can make use of the ample outdoor space by lounging by the pool or enjoying a drink at the bar.

Bono & The Edge – The Clarence Dublin, Ireland

U2 band members and Dublin natives Paul Hewson (Bono) and David Evans (The Edge) bought The Clarence in 1992, no doubt attracted by its prime location on the River Liffey.

The two-star hotel was later converted to a four-star, fifty-room boutique hotel, including the renowned penthouse suite, spread across two floors and boasting a baby grand piano and balcony with panoramic views over the city. Although the hotel is now owned by Brushfield Ltd, it retains a close link to U2 – who filmed a live version of Beautiful Day on the hotel’s rooftop back in 2000.

Robert Redford – Sundance Resort Utah, USA

American actor and director Robert Redford bought an entire ski area northeast of Provo in Utah for his business venture, renaming it Sundance and creating a family home, year-round resort and international film festival.

The hotel retains strong links to the entertainment industry, with Andersson previously hosting the premiere of Mamma Mia! in the hotel’s cinema and even releasing a single recorded by hotel staff.
