Timm Marine Timm Marine is a proud member of the Timm Group. We specialize in mooring systems for the maritime, offshore and fisheries industries. Timm has been a trusted supplier of rope and mooring products since 1772, and our customers have carried our products to all four corners of the world. We began by equipping sailing ships departing from Norway’s capital, Oslo, in the 18th century. In the 1930s, we outfitted Norwegian whalers. Later, in the 1960s, we began supplying the offshore drilling industry. In the Timm Group, we take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our work, and in our ability to keep abreast of and utilize technological developments. We are proud to be rope makers. Although our team now includes chemists and engineers, our factory floor specialists still impart the final touch of craftsmanship to our end products. Hemp 1772-1930

1772: Christiania Reeperbahne is established by Nils Torgersen.

In mooring and towing ropes, the eye suffers the most wear. Standard rope-eye protection on mooring or towing ropes often tears and suffers an “accordion effect” shortly after being taken into use. We have developed a package of components to limit the loss of protection around the eye and splice area, called the Timm Super Eye. The Timm Super Eye covers the entire area around the eye and splice area, and fits snugly to prevent water intrusion and icing.

Vessels and offshore installations are growing in size, and there is a greater focus on safety and environmental protection. As a high-end rope manufacturer, Timm is increasingly required to produce more comprehensive documentation when serving customers in the marine industry. Timm takes its responsibilities seriously, and is developing one of Europe’s most advanced test labs for fiber ropes. The lab will enable Timm to develop new products according to customer requirements, and to meet all customer documentation needs. The end user should always feel safe when using a Timm rope.

Timm has installed a new test bench for fiber ropes with a force up to 300 tons in 2013, and is equipped to conduct all types of testing in accordance with OCIMF, CI and ISIO requirements. Timm will also allow customers to use the test lab to develop complete solutions. Emergency situations involving towing, lifting and mooring require quick action. That is why we have developed the Timm Rope Cutter (TRC) system for quick vessel release. The TRC has the power and cutting capabilities necessary to preserve onboard safety and limit potential damage. We have developed a package of components to limit the loss of protection around the eye and splice area, called the Timm Super Eye.
