Installing and Upgrading the Desktop Client You can use the ClickOnce installation to install the TIBCO® Managed File Transfer Internet Server desktop client. There are two types of installations offered. The first is a full installation offered where you would install the desktop client program on to your desktop. The other is a cached installation where the desktop client would be initiated each time from the browser. Only one can be used so choose the one that will work best for your environment. In TIBCO Managed File Transfer (MFT) Internet Server documentation set, MFT is used to represent TIBCO® Managed File Transfer and MFTIS is used to represent TIBCO MFT Internet Server.

Installing the Desktop Client You can use the full installation to install the desktop client program on to your desktop. Procedure 1. To connect and have the desktop client program installed on your desktop, use one of the following URLs: ●

2. Click Install and the download will start. See your administrator if the download fails to start. 3. Accept the End Users License Agreement (EULA) to complete the installation. 4. Sign on when the install is done. Result The desktop client will open. When the installation process is completed, you should see TIBCO Software Inc. containing the menu item MFT Desktop Client in your list of programs.

Installing the Cached Desktop Client You can use the cached installation to install the desktop client that would be initiated each time from the browser. When using the Firefox browser, you will have to install the ClickOnce add-on to install the ClickOnce application. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/tag/ClickOnce and download and install the add-on. Procedure 1. To connect and have the desktop, client run from your browser use one of the following URLs: ●

2. Click Start and the install to the browser will start. See your administrator if the install fails to start. 3. Accept the End Users License Agreement (EULA) to complete the installation. 4. Sign on when the install is done. The desktop client will open. Next time you want to use the client, just open your browser and use one of the cache URL and log on. Upgrading the Desktop Client To upgrade the desktop client from a earlier version to 8.0, uninstall the earlier version and install the desktop client 8.0. See Installing the Desktop Client or Installing the Cached Desktop Client for details. If a different connection URL is being used to connect to the MFTIS, you will have to open the newly installed desktop client 8.0 and click Configuration on menu item, and then click the Transfer Settings tab to edit the transfer service URL. Contact your MFTIS administrator for more information.

Desktop Client Configuration You can edit default configurations of the desktop client in the Configuration window. Click Configuration to open the Configuration window, which contains the following settings: ●

Authentication



Transfer Settings



Proxy Settings



TIBCO Accelerator

Authentication You can configure the MFTIS user authentication and the SSL certificate in the Authentication tab.

The following table lists the fields in the Authentication tab: Field

Description

User ID

The MFTIS user ID when the desktop client authenticates with the MFTIS.

Password

The password being used when the desktop client authenticates with the MFTIS.

Change Password

If you want to change the password, click this button. See Change Password for more details.

Key File Name

The encryption key used for the SSL certificate. SSL will only be used when the Use client certificate for authentication check box is selected.

If you want to use an SSL certificate, select this check box.

Change Password If you are permitted to change your own passwords, you can change the password in the Change Password window. See your web server administrator to obtain the connection and user ID information. The following table lists the fields in the Change Password tab: Field

Old Password

The password being used for sign on.

New Password

The new password that you want to use.

Confirm New Password

The new password again.

Change Password

Click this button after typing the information correctly in the Old Password, New Password and Confirm New Password fields.

Cancel

Click this button to cancel changing passwords.

Transfer Settings You can configure the connection information for your transfer request in the Transfer Settings tab.

Field

Description

Transfer Service URL

The company’s web server IP or host name in place of web server, the port number in place of port, and the context name being used for the application (generally cfcc) in place of context. See your web server administrator if you have questions regarding the connection and user ID information.

Trace File

The location of the trace file that contains any complications with your MFTIS desktop client.

Level

The trace level. It is not recommended you edit the level unless told to do so by TIBCO Technical Support. Contact your local administrator if you are experiencing complications.

Default User Directory

The directory displayed in the left hand panel of the desktop client transfer window when it is opened.

Max number of files for a directory upload

The maximum number of files that are transferred at one time during a directory upload.

If there was a problem during a transfer that was using checkpoint/restart, (Set by the MFTIS administrator), you must confirm if you would like the transfer to be restarted. If the Prompt user to continue transferring existing files box is enabled, you will receive a pop-up asking if you would like to restart the transfer.

Proxy Settings You can configure the proxy settings in the Proxy Settings tab. See your local administrator to configure the proxy settings if needed.

TIBCO Accelerator You can configure transfer requests to be sent using the TIBCO accelerator protocols of UDP (User Datagram Protocol), PDP (Parallel Delivery Protocol) or TCP in the TIBCO Accelerator tab.

If you want to set transfer requests to be sent by using the TIBCO accelerator protocols, select the Use TIBCO Accelerator check box. A command prompt window will open and show you the accelerator service is running. (This window must stay to use the RSA support.) When enabled all transfer requests will be sent on the ports configured on this panel. You can also configure the Blowfish encryption, compression (a proprietary compression compatible with zlib), and the maximum speed in kilobytes per second per transfer in this tab. It is not recommended to change the default ports unless you are told so by your local administrator. To use TIBCO accelerator, you will need the Visual C++ Runtime libraries. If the Visual C++ Runtime libraries are not installed, the desktop client will install them upon enabling TIBCO accelerator in TIBCO Accelerator tab. You will see the following window open to install them:

Installing Visual C++ Runtime Libraries To use the TIBCO accelerator, you have to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.

Procedure 1. Double-click the vcredist_x86.exe file to open the installation wizard. 2. In the Welcome to Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup dialog, click Next.

3. In the License Terms dialog, select the I have red and accept the license terms check box, and then click Install.

4. In the Setup Complete dialog, click Finish.

Desktop Client Layout The desktop client provides a workbench to send and receive files.

The workbench consists of: 1. Desktop Client Menu 2. Local View tab 3. Local View path display 4. Refresh button (Available in both the Local View tab and MFT Server tab) 5. Up navigation button (Available in both the Local View tab and MFT Server tab) 6. Delete button for Local View (Enabled when available in both the Local View tab and MFT Server tab) 7. Rename button (Enabled when available in both the Local View tab and MFT Server tab) 8. Create Folder button (Enabled when available in both the Local and MFT Server view panels) 9. When Windows file Attributes are defined on a file you will see them displayed here 10. MFT Server View tab 11. MFT Server path display 12. Permissions set for a folder or file (shown in UNIX format) 13. Transfer Mode button. When enabled you can set transfers to be sent in Text/Binary mode and/or set carriage return/line feed options. 14. Progress bar (Displays a transferring file(s) progress.) 15. Status tab 16. History tab 17. Logging window. When the Status tab is active you will see connection and transfer messages. When the History tab is active you will see transfer history records. 18. Transferring Files with Desktop Client By default, when you sign on the MFTIS desktop client, a panel that shows a list of folder/files and the descriptions that you may conduct transfers with are displayed .

Uploading Files You can upload files in the MFTIS workbench. Procedure 1. In the left panel, find the files on your computer that you want to upload and select them. 2. In the right panel, click the destination directory that you want the files to be transferred to (Configured by the MFTIS administrator). When the upload arrow is displayed in orange, the files is ready to be sent.

3. Click to upload your files. The details of your file transfer request will be displayed in the bottom panel.

Downloading Files You can download files in the MFTIS workbench. Procedure 1. In the right panel, double-click the folder that contains the files that you want to download from MFTIS (Configured by the MFTIS administrator) and select them. 2. In the left panel, navigate to the destination directory that you want the files to be transferred to. When the download arrow is displayed in green, the files is ready to be sent.

3. Click to download the files. The details of your file transfer request will be displayed in the bottom panel.
