SERENO SOCCER CLUB ‐ Great Lakes Scrip Gift Card Fundraiser    In an effort to help Sereno families raise money to help defray the costs associated with playing competitive  soccer, the club will be administering the Great Lakes Scrip (“GLScrip”) gift card fundraiser. This fundraiser is  open to all Sereno families.     This fundraiser does not ask you to spend more money, BUT when you do spend it, if you use gift cards from  GLScrip you can benefit with rebates.    What is Great Lakes Scrip?  The Great Lakes Scrip center purchases gift cards that are used like cash.  The gift cards are issued by national  and local retailers where most of us already shop. In addition to supporting non‐profit organizations, these  merchants want to increase store traffic and foster brand loyalty.      Because the gift cards are purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.   Sereno, as a non‐profit organization, buys the gift cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount and re‐ sells the certificates to our members for full face value. The discounts range from two to fifteen percent.   Sereno retains 25% of the discount as an administration fee.  Participating families can choose to either  receive the remaining balance as a rebate or make a tax‐deductible charitable donation to Sereno.  Family  rebates will be disbursed by Sereno on a quarterly basis (September 1, December 1, March 1, June 1).    How does it work?  Each family will create an online shopping account in which they will place orders for gift cards from various  retailers. You will pay the face value of the gift card. However, each retailer offers their gift cards at a  discounted price.  The discount varies by retailer.  So, when the club orders the gift cards for you, Sereno will  pay the discounted price. The difference is tracked by family.       Why is it a great fundraiser?  One reason is that you don’t have to sell anything! You are purchasing gift cards for places you already shop –  places where you are already going to spend money.  Also, if you want to buy gift cards as gifts, you will be  able to raise money at the same time.  Since this fundraiser is being tracked by family, all players will benefit  directly from the money that each of their families raise.        EXAMPLE 1.  A family’s player has an out‐of‐town tournament.  The team is staying at a Choice Hotel.  Their  stay is going to cost approximately $400.00 because they need two rooms. The family buys $400.00 in gift  cards through the GLScrip program. Choice provides a 4% return rate.  So, for money that the family was going  to spend anyway, $16 was rebated, and after deducting $4 for the Sereno administration fee, the family  receives $12.    EXAMPLE 2.  A family has a regular expenditure of $50 for monthly prescription co‐pays.   The family  purchases $50 in Walgreen’s gift cards through the GLScrip program which has a return rate of 6%.  The return  of $3 is split $2.25 to the family and $.75 to Sereno—over the course of a year, that amounts to $27 to the  family and $9 to Sereno, again, for money that they were spending anyway.    EXAMPLE 3.  A family wants to purchase new window decor at Restoration Hardware, totaling $1000.  With  $1000 in cards from GLScrip, a return rate of 12% means $90 to the family and $30 to Sereno.

    FYI  One family from a soccer club in Ohio was able to cover their player’s entire balance of training fees and team  fees by utilizing cards from GLScrip—nearly $2500.  Not only did the family maximize their own card usage but  their extended family used GLScrip for their grocery, prescription, and travel expenses (again, money that they  were spending anyway) to the benefit of the soccer player.

How do I create an online account?  1. Go to www.shopwithscrip.com.  2. Click on “Create Account”  3. This link brings you to the new user registration page.  4. Enter the required information.  5. Review and accept the agreements.  6. After accepting, a confirmation email with your password and other information you will need will follow.  7. Next, the site will prompt you to join an organization. Type the enrollment code for Sereno Soccer Club:   BA4LD22821432.  8.  Click on “Change Profile/Password” to access your account information.  Please make certain that the  Classroom/Group field has your player’s team (e.g., 99BW, 99BB, 99GW, 99BWS, 99GBS) and that the   Student Name field has your player’s name (e.g., Dominic DeVictor, Christiano Ronaldo, Mia Hamm).      For purposes of creating reports, distributing the cards, AND disbursing the rebates, please provide the  Classroom/Group and Student Name information in the format that is provided.   

How and when do I pay for the gift cards?  Payment must be for the face value of the gift cards you are ordering.  Sereno is utilizing a fully automated  system called PrestoPay™ through ShopWithScrip.com to allow families to pay for their gift cards online.    PrestoPay™ is efficient because it is used to pay for your order at the time the order is placed online—no  delay sending in a check and waiting for it to clear. Your checking account will be debited for the face value  amount of your order plus a small convenience fee of $0.39. Go to your online account and click on the  PrestoPay™ link to register.    Why This Is Safe  GLScrip has been successfully and accurately debiting its customer’s accounts via the banking industry’s  Automated Clearing House (ACH) process for the past 14 years. Today over 90% of GLScrip’s customers  elect to utilize this proven payment method.    GLScrip has worked very closely with its bank to assure the security of data transmission between its  computer systems and theirs. All transmissions are via secure data links, and the data is encrypted before  sending. All data you enter on the GLScrip site is also transmitted via secure data links.    Furthermore, GLScrip has invested in the latest computer network security protocols, as defined by the  Payment Card Industry (PCI).

How do I order gift cards?  After you set up your online account, do the following to place orders:  1. Go to www.shopwithscrip.com.  2. Login by entering your email address and password.  3. Click on the “Order Scrip” link at the top of the page.  4. Select Sereno Soccer Club for your organization and click “Next.”  5. Select the quantity of the gift cards you wish to order.  6. Once all your orders have been placed, click on “Check Out” to place your order.  7. Click on “Finish Order” to complete the order.    *** Note that when you place an order through ShopWithScrip, you are placing the order with the  coordinator. You are not actually placing the order with GLScrip nor are you making payment to GLScrip. The  coordinator will actually place the order with GLScrip and make one payment on behalf of Sereno.    *** Note:  please look at the back of the gift cards on the screen, prior to ordering, so that you understand  any exclusions and/or limitations that apply.  E.g., the Marriott card indicates that it is not effective for  payment for group rate reservations whereas Hyatt and Choice do not have such limitations.      When will the orders be placed? When do I have to have my order online?   Initially, orders will be placed by Sereno twice a month, on the first and third Mondays.  Online orders and  payments must be confirmed by 8 a.m. of the first and third Mondays.  As volume picks up, the club will move  to a weekly schedule—with same week turnaround and card orders available for use by the weekend.      How long does it take to get the gift cards after ordering them? How do I get them?  It takes 2‐3 business days from the order date for Sereno to receive the gift cards from GLScrip. Though all  orders will be placed with overnight delivery, the processing time may vary. The coordinator will schedule a  time for you to pick up your gift cards.    Are cards reloadable?  If so, how do I reload them?  Yes, some cards offered through GLScrip are reloadable (check out ShopWithScrip.com—the list continues to  grow!) so you don't have to wait for a new gift card delivery to reload gift cards at ShopWithScrip.com.   If you  place card‐reload orders, since we use PrestoPay™, the cards will be reloaded automatically when GLScrip  processes the order, usually the next day—no waiting for delivery. Generally speaking, any "reload only" order  placed before noon will be activated by the next business day.  Examples:  AMC, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble,  Gap/Old Navy, PapaJohn’s.    How can I keep track of what I have raised so far?  ShopWithScrip.com keeps track of all of your orders. You can log into your account at any time and obtain  information regarding your account, such as order history and account activity. Or, your coordinator can run a  report for you at any time that summarizes what you have raised so far with the program.    NOTE:  Please remember that these cards are like cash—DO NOT LOSE THEM.  Sereno is not responsible for  gift cards once they have been distributed to you or your designated recipient.    Coordinator:  Audra DeVictor  [email protected]
