The World of Santa

FOREWORD The pins in this catalog represent a beginning compilation of images and information about Santa Claus and Santa Claus-related Lions pins, and I believe them to be only the “tip of the iceberg” . Hopefully, you will have some in your collection that are not featured herein and would be willing to share them with me. In this connection, I would like to be able to scan your pins into the catalog and then return them to you. Lion Bill Guthrie of Minnesota and PCC Jim Schiebel of New York have been very helpful in providing a number of pins for scanning from their personal collections. Also, Lions Harry Fulwiler and Phil Sharpe of Virginia have worked with me during the development of this catalog. You will notice that there are pins in this catalog that do not feature Santa but are related in some manner. When Santa is included in a set with non-Santa pins, I have shown the entire set, often in reduced size for your information in the event you wish to collect the entire set. In other instances I have included all the pins in a set when I feel they are critical to understanding the set. Train sets are an example of this approach. You will also notice that I have included pins that feature the Santa hat. I realize that some of you “Santa purists” will not agree with me on this subject. However, I feel strongly that such an image, as subtle as it may be, represents the Santa theme. In this connection, this should be a clear indication to you that I am solely responsible for the contents herein and that this catalog does not necessarily represent the official LITPC position on the matter. However, I do appreciate the LITPC Web Master PCC Phil Schrack agreeing to give increased exposure for the catalog by including it on the LITPC web site. As for the numbering system that I am using, it provides an easy reference to the pin without having to go into detail when you are corresponding or asking questions about a particular issue. It would be helpful for you to refer to both the pin number and the page number of the catalog since there is no significance in the order in which the numbers have been assigned. Numbers are assigned as the pins are received for inclusion in the catalog. Pages are numbered using the first letter of the source as a guide, followed by a number within the alphabetic sequence. There are gaps in the page numbering to allow for future expansion. The date of issue of each page is shown in the lower right corner. In the beginning, all pages show the date of 07-01-15. As changes are made to a page, the date of the change will be reflected by the statement “Amended (date)”.
