LOWER COST

All Electric Rate During the winter months, all electric users receive a 25% lower rate for their space heating use and an 8% lower rate for all other electric use; compared to our standard rate. Water Heater Credit Electric water heater homes receive a water heater credit on their bills during the summer months (June - October). No Gas Line Installation When building a new home there will be no added cost for gas line installation to your heating system and water heater. Also, your home will be more energy efficient since holes for venting through the roof will not be necessary. Load Management All electric users have the option of placing an EMC load management switch on air conditioning and water heating equipment, and getting a $2.50 monthly credit for June-September. During the summer months on extremely hot days, your EMC periodically cycles off a/c units and water heaters to help hold down our wholesale power costs on our highest demand day, therefore keeping rates lower.

ENERGY EFFICIENT HEATING AND COOLING

Investing in an electric heat pump is one of the smartest energy decisions you can make. A heat pump keeps your home cozy in the winter and refreshingly cool in the summer. In some cases, a new heat pump can reduce your heating bill by up to 50 percent. How does an electric heat pump work? In the winter, the air source heat pump moves heat from the outside air to the inside, warming your home. Even the coldest winter air offers heat: When it is zero degrees the air contains 82 percent of the heat it would hold on a 100 degree day. In summer, the process reverses. The heat pump draws hot air away from your home to the outdoors, cooling your home economically even during the hottest months. Geothermal heat pumps use the near constant temperature of the earth for its heat source. It circulates water through a matrix of outdoor buried plastic piping where it is warmed by the earth in the winter and cooled by the earth in the summer. You can cut your energy cost in half and heat your water at the same time.

While in operation, the heat recovery unit provides hot water at no cost. It increases the efficiency of the electric water heater and the heat pump, and decreases the operating cost of both. Most GeoSystems have a built-in heat recovery unit.
