A SEASON OF PANEL DISCUSSIONS IN THE CONFERENCE CENTRE

Tuesday 11 May 18.30 – 21.30 THE SECRET INGREDIENT OF SUCCESS

Asian food, culture, design and products have never been more popular in Britain. How did this ‘Asian revolution’ come about? Why are Asian entrepreneurs, designers and artists so influential in Britain today? And how can British firms tap into the increasingly affluent Asian market?

How have Asian entrepreneurs broken away from the local ‘balti house’ or ‘corner-shop open-all-hours’ stereotypes into mainstream business sectors in the UK? Benefit from the lessons learnt by some of the most successful in the business.

If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur with good ideas, hear leading players reveal the secrets of their success. Take the opportunity to put your questions to a panel of experts. The discussions will be chaired by Lisa Aziz, Presenter, Sky News, Parminder Vir, Head of Diversity, Carlton Television and Adam Shaw, Presenter, BBC2’s Working Lunch. A drinks reception and a private view of the Silk Road exhibition will follow each event. This is included in the price. Price £10.00 (concessions £7.50) per event.

MODERATOR Lisa Aziz – Media Personality and Sky News Presenter. Lisa is best known as one of the main anchors on Sky News and has recently won Media Personality of the Year at the GG2 Leadership and Diversity Awards. She has presented Big Talk on BBC2, as well as East, on issues related to the Asian community.

The Silk Road is organised in collaboration with

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see spectacular treasures and everyday objects from tombs and temples along the Silk Road. The Silk Road was a major network extending over 6,000km from the heartland of China to the Mediterranean, carrying trade, culture and ideas from Asia to Europe. This exhibition brings together manuscripts, paintings, artefacts and textiles influenced by Persian, Arabic, Indian, Turkic, Tibetan and Chinese cultures. Many of these are on show for the first time, along with other fascinating artefacts from museums in the UK, India, China, Japan, Germany and France. Highlights include a copy of the Buddhist Diamond Sutra from 868AD, a Chinese almanac from 59BC and vividly-coloured 1,000 year old silk textiles and woollen rugs. Make the journey and explore how much life has changed over the past 1,000 years. www.bl.uk/silkroad
