Join members as they sing, laugh, and decorate the tree with assorted winter items. All donated items will be given to the Family Resource Center by Franklin Square Hospital. All donations of hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves will be accepted.

This informative session is not only a great way to meet other new members, but it also is a way to find out more about all the services BCDA has to offer. Advanced sign up is required. Veteran’s Day – Remembrance Day CLOSED Wednesday, November 11th Movie Matinee: Cowgirls and Angels Thursday, Nov 12th 1:00 p.m. We are welcoming all member - movie lovers to come out and enjoy a great movie and lunch! Lunch is a suggested donation of $2.50. Movie Summary: Headstrong young rodeo rider Ida tours the western circuit with the Sweethearts of the Rodeo while seeking her long-lost father. Along the way she strikes up an unexpected friendship with a legendary trick rider and develops a powerful love of horses that gives newfound meaning to her life. Lunch will begin at 12:00 & the movie will begin at 1:00p.m. Advanced sign up is required for both lunch & movie by 11/5.

Happy Birthday to you! Center Registration Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Please remember to renew your membership. Membership is free and granted to Baltimore County residents 60 years of age and older and their spouse (spouse can be under 60 years of age). Non-county residents are also eligible to register as members of the center. Members must be able to function in the center without one-on-one assistance from staff and be able to move independently (with or without assistive devices) within the center. Remember it is BCDA’s policy that anyone that participates in events, classes or activities MUST become a member of that particular center. So, if someone asks to see your membership card...please be prepared.

Department of Aging News and Events Caregiving Resource Created by BCDA Thousands of family caregivers across our county urgently need support and assistance. November is National Family Caregivers Month, a perfect time to tap into new resources to help reduce caregiver stress. The Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) has produced a new booklet titled “Family Caregiving: The Art of Caring for Your Older Relative” made possible by a generous sponsorship from the Elizabeth Cooney Care Network. Within the pages of this helpful booklet, readers will find tips and strategies specifically designed to guide family caregivers through the many challenges faced in caring for an older relative. The booklet will be distributed at a number of outreach events including: • Parkville Senior Center, 8601 Harford Road, 21234, presentation on November 4 from 1 to 2 p.m.; • Arbutus Senior Center, 855A Sulphur Spring Road, 21227, presentation on November 13 from 10 to 11 a.m.; and • Ateaze Senior Center, 7401 Holabird Avenue, 21222, presentation on November 18 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For more information about programs and services for older adults and people with disabilities, contact Maryland Access Point (MAP) of Baltimore County at [email protected] and 410-887-2594.

Add Sizzle to Your Life with Senior Box Office! Senior Box Office (SBO) offers complimentary and discounted tickets to members for cultural, educational, and entertainment events. SBO also offers exciting travel opportunities to both members and non-members. A brochure outlining events and trips is published quarterly. Seniors age 60 and older are eligible to join. The 2015-2016 membership runs October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016. Annual membership dues are: • $30 per household with brochures delivered electronically by email OR • $38 per household with printed brochures delivered by regular mail.

The Eating Together program provides a nutritious meal and socialization in over 40 County sites in senior centers, community buildings and senior residences. Residents aged 60 and over and their spouses of any age are eligible to participate in this program and are asked to make a voluntary, confidential donation. home team

This community-based volunteer program provides social support to County seniors 60+ who are isolated and confined to their home. Through friendly in-home and telephone visits, volunteers offer the needed interaction, socialization and reassurance to help seniors maintain a higher quality of life with the ability to remain independent in their home longer. Also, callers are assessed for eligibility to obtain financial assistance to help with Medicare and prescription cost. inClement Weather poliCy It is the policy of the Baltimore County Department of Aging to open and fully operate its programs as scheduled. The effects of severe weather and concern for the safety of our constituents may, however, lead us to close centers, CountyRide, and other services/programs. When this or closing for any other reason occurs, media announcements regarding closures or late openings will ONLY be made on WBAL Radio, 1090 AM; WBAL-TV 11 and WJZ-TV 13. Information on closings and/or late openings will also be published on the Baltimore County web site, www.baltimorecountymd.gov. Senior Centers will open at 10:30 a.m. when a 2-hour delay is reported.
