District Governor’s Message to the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Sunrise President Alan and members, Congratulations on reaching your 20 year milestone on 29th November 2011. Sponsored by Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Kooringal in 1991, you have made a significant contribution to the local community and Rotary International. The Club has a number of achievements that make it unique in District 9700. These include:  1st Breakfast Club;  1st female Rotarian President, Jan French; and  1st Club to have dual gender from Charter. You have established the annual Garden & Outdoor Leisure Festival as one of the premium events as a ‘’welcome to spring’’ in Wagga and conduct the iconic “Ladies – Let’s Do Lunch” for women in business. On the international scene, Wagga Wagga Sunrise has been at the forefront of assistance to overseas aid projects and has been generous with its support to The Rotary Foundation and its educational and humanitarian programs. Your record also extends to the formation of the Sunset Probus Club in Wagga as a community service to retired people. The current members would enthusiastically acknowledge the significant contribution of their partners to these achievements as they provide a platform for the future growth and success of the Club. Best wishes for a successful 20th Anniversary and in the years to come.

Ian Simpson District 9700 Governor 2011-12

Reach Within to Embrace Humanity

Wagga Wagga City Council Mayor’s Congratulatory Message As Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga I’m delighted to extend my congratulations to Sunrise Rotary on their milestone 20th Anniversary! Sunrise Rotary provides incredible support to our community and contributes greatly to the City of Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region, and the work carried out by them over the past 20 years has been truly outstanding. Over the last 20 years Sunrise’s contribution to the Wagga Wagga community has included implementing the Riverina Cancer Care Centre doorknock appeal, in liaison with other local groups, and fundraising and labour to contribute to Kurrajong Waratah, PCYC, and Ronald McDonald House to name a few. A particular standout project has to be the Garden and Outdoor Festival which continues to be a great attraction and has seen significant improvements made to the beautiful Botanic Gardens, including the Bamboo Garden, garden seats, and the maze. Council is delighted to work closely with Sunrise Rotary in this regard. Sunrise Rotary has also enthusiastically supported community-wide initiatives with their fundraising for the tsunami, drought and flood appeals. My wholehearted thanks and congratulations go to this special group for their contributions to our city and to our region, and for their continuing hard work and achievements. It is a privilege to call Sunrise Rotary part of the Wagga Wagga community, and I wish them all the very best for the future!
