Theme:

“The Quest For His Excellencies” “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Rom. 11:33) “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God” (1 Cor. 2:10, 11). We have only scratched the surface of God’s mighty power and blessings, but there is no doubt that there’s much more of God that we have yet to know and experience. There is a realm of wisdom and knowledge, obedience and unity, love and forgiveness, holiness and righteousness that we all must continually strive after in our quest for the excellencies of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord. These are the treasures that are found in Christ. It is not a quest like those of epochs gone by, where they searched but did not know where to dig or the exact location of the prize. We who love God are enabled by God through the Spirit of God to know the deep things of God if we will only pledge our hearts to approach Him. It is fitting that His Church should pursue after His extraordinary superior qualities because we are His Body—bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. What He has done before, He can do again and so much more! God has a desire for His people and the work in these last days, but it is more than just a desire. God will in fact carry out His plans that were ordained before the foundation of the world. We are happy to have every member and friend attend this General Assembly. We welcome each one. Thank you for coming. You are encouraged and invited to yield your hearts over to God, delight in the blessings of the Lord in every session, and respond in love to the Spirit of God in this glorious meeting. While we are gathered together, our desire is for God’s perfect will to prevail and to see God magnified and glorified. We want to see The Church of God edified, and people saved, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost, receive a divine revelation of God’s Church, and healed by the power of God! “We only see a little of the ocean, a few miles distance from the rocky shore, But oh! Out there beyond, beyond the eyes horizon there’s more! We only see a little of God’s loving, a few rich treasures from His mighty store, But oh! Out there beyond, beyond our life’s horizon, there’s more, there’s more” –author unknown Oscar Pimentel, General Overseer The Church of God

AT THE CROSS Alas! And did my Saviour bleed And did my Sov’reign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I? At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Was it for crimes that I had done He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! Grace unknown! And love beyond degree! Well might the sun in darkness hide, And shut His glories in; When Christ the mighty Maker died For man the creature’s sin. But drops of grief can ne’er repay The debt of love I owe; Here, Lord, I give myself away, ’Tis all that I can do. NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh! Precious is the flow, That makes me white as snow; No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus. For my pardon this I see, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; For my cleansing this my plea, Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Nothing can for sin atone, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; Naught of good that I have done, Nothing but the blood of Jesus. This is all my hope and peace, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; This is all my righteousness, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

’TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise; Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.” Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er. Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more. O, how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood; Just in simple faith to plunge me, ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus simply taking Life, and rest, and joy, and peace. I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Saviour, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end.

THERE IS A FOUNTAIN There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins; And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains; And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day; And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away. Wash all my sins away; wash all my sins away And there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its power Till all the ransomed Church of God be saved, to sin no more. Be saved, to sin no more, be saved, to sin no more; Till all the ransomed Church of God be saved, to sin no more. E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply, Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die. And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die; Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die. Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing thy power to save, When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave. Lies silent in the grave, lies silent in the grave; When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave.

TRUST AND OBEY When we walk with the Lord In the light of His Word What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus, But to trust and obey. Not a shadow can rise, Not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away! Not a doubt nor a fear, Not a sigh nor a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey. Not a burden we bear, Not a sorrow we share, But our toil He doth richly repay! Not a grief nor a loss, Not a frown nor a cross, But is blest if we trust and obey. But we never can prove, The delights of His love Until all on the altar we lay; For the favor He shows, And the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey. Then in fellowship sweet We will sit at His feet, Or we’ll walk by His side in the way; What He says we will do, Where He sends we will go, Never fear, only trust and obey.

LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms; I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

GLORY TO HIS NAME Down at the cross where my Saviour died, Down where for cleansing from sin I cried, There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His Name! Glory to His Name, Glory to His Name: There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His Name! I am so wondrously saved from sin, Jesus so sweetly abides within, There at the cross where He took me in; Glory to His Name! Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin, I am so glad I have entered in; There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean; Glory to His Name! Come to this fountain so rich and sweet, Cast thy poor soul at the Saviour’s feet; Plunge in today, and be made complete; Glory to His Name!

THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD Would you be free from the burden of sin? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood; Would you o’er evil a victory win? There’s wonderful power in the blood. There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb; There is power, power, wonder working power In the precious blood of the Lamb. Would you be free from your passion and pride? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood; Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide; There’s wonderful power in the blood. Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood; Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow. There’s wonderful power in the blood. Would you do service for Jesus your King? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood; Would you live daily His praises to sing? There’s wonderful power in the blood.

I SURRENDER ALL All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live. I surrender all, I surrender all, All to Thee, my blessed Saviour, I surrender all. All to Jesus I surrender, Humbly at His feet I bow, Worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me Jesus, take me now. All to Jesus I surrender, Make me Saviour, wholly Thine; Let me feel the Holy Spirit, Truly know that Thou art mine. All to Jesus I surrender, Lord, I give myself to Thee; Fill me with Thy love and power, Let Thy blessing fall on me.

I WOULD NOT BE DENIED When pangs of death seized on my soul, Unto the Lord I cried, Till Jesus came and made me whole, I would not be denied. I would not be denied, I would not be denied, Till Jesus came and made me whole, I would not be denied. As Jacob in the days of old, I wrestled with the Lord, And instant with a courage bold, I stood upon His Word. Old Satan said my Lord was gone and would not hear my prayer, But praise the Lord! The work is done, And Christ, the Lord is here.

AT CALVARY Years I spent in vanity and pride, Caring not my Lord was crucified, Knowing not it was for me He died on Calvary. Mercy there was great, and grace was free; Pardon there was multiplied to me; There my burdened soul found liberty at Calvary. By God’s Word at last my sin I learned; Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned, Till my guilty soul imploring turned to Calvary. Now I’ve given to Jesus everything, Now I gladly own Him as my King, Now my raptured soul can only sing of Calvary! Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan! Oh, the grace that brought it down to man! Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at Calvary!

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suffering and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain. So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear Lamb of God left his glory above To bear it to dark Calvary. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see, For ‘twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, To pardon and sanctify me. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true, Its shame and reproach gladly bear; Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share.

O, I WANT TO SEE HIM As I journey thru the land singing as I go, Pointing souls to Calvary, to the crimson flow, Many arrows pierce my soul from without, within; But my Lord leads me on, thru Him I must win. O, I want to see Him, look upon His face, There to sing forever of His saving grace; On the streets of Glory let me lift my voice; Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice. When in service for my Lord dark may be the night, But I’ll cling more close to Him, He will give me light; Satan’s snares may vex my soul, turn my thoughts aside; But my Lord goes ahead, leads whatever betide. When before me billows rise from the mighty deep, Then my Lord directs my bark; He doth safely keep, And He leads me gently on thru this world below; He’s a real Friend to me, O, I love Him so.

WHEN THE CHURCH OF GOD ARISES When the Church of God arises with her garments bright and fair, And ascends to meet the Bridegroom for the marriage in the air; She’ll outshine the sun at noon day, not a wrinkle not a spot, Will you be among the Bride or will you not? She’ll be shining, shining through the ages, After earth and time have been forgot; She’ll be wearing garments pure and spotless, Have you on the wedding robe, or have you not? She has stood through all the ages, persecution through the years, But when Jesus comes to claim her, God shall wipe away her tears; And the Lamb Himself shall feed her, He will feed her from the throne, And to living fountains lead her as His own. Trouble then will all be ended, after teardrops have been dried, And the Church of God has gathered over on the other side; There as millions join the singing, that glad song that’s sweet and new, Saying Jesus has redeemed us, hallelu. That will be the last assembly, over on the shining shore, When the Church of God assembles to come back, no, never more; But with Jesus and the angels, there through all eternity, She’ll be shouting hallelujah, victory A GLORIOUS CHURCH Do you hear them coming, brother, Thronging up the steeps of light, Clad in glorious shining garments, Blood-washed garments pure and white? ’Tis a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, Washed in the blood of the Lamb; ’Tis a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle, Washed in the blood of the Lamb. Do you hear the stirring anthems, Filling all the earth and sky, ’Tis a grand, victorious army, Lift its banner up on high! Never fear the clouds of sorrow, Never fear the storms of sin, We shall triumph on the morrow, Even now our joys begin. Wave the banner, shout His praises, For our victory is nigh! We shall join our conquering Saviour, We shall reign with Him on high!

ARE YOU WASHED IN THE BLOOD? Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you washed in the blood; In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you walking daily by the Saviour’s side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you rest each moment in the Crucified? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white? Pure and white in the blood of the Lamb? Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright, And be washed in the blood of the Lamb? Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin, And be washed in the blood of the Lamb; There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean, O, be washed in the blood of the Lamb.

I SHALL NOT BE MOVED Glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved; Anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved; Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters, I shall not be moved. I shall not be, I shall not be moved, I shall not be, I shall not be moved; Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters, I shall not be moved. In His love abiding, I shall not be moved; And in Him confiding, I shall not be moved; Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters, I shall not be moved. Though all hell assail me, I shall not be moved; Jesus will not fail me, I shall not be moved; Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters, I shall not be moved. Though the tempest rages, I shall not be moved; On the Rock of Ages, I shall not be moved; Just like a tree that’s planted by the waters, I shall not be moved.

I AM THINE, O LORD I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord, To Thy precious, bleeding side. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in Thine. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend! There are depths of love that I cannot know till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee.

WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD Christ our Redeemer died on the cross, Died for the sinner, paid all his due; Sprinkle your soul with the blood of the Lamb, “And I will pass, will pass over you.” “When I see the blood, When I see the blood, When I see the blood, I will pass, I will pass over you.” Chiefest of sinners, Jesus will save; All He has promised, that will He do; Wash in the fountain opened for sin, “And I will pass, will pass over you.” Judgment is coming, all will be there, Each one receiving justly his due; Hide in the saving, sin-cleansing blood, “And I will pass, will pass over you.” O, great compassion! O, boundless love! O, loving kindness, faithful and true! Find peace and shelter under the blood, “And I will pass, will pass over you.”

WHATEVER IT TAKES There’s a voice calling me from an old rugged tree And it whispers, “Draw closer to Me; Leave this world far behind, there are new heights to climb, And a new place in Me you will find.” For whatever it takes to draw closer to You, Lord, That’s what I’ll be willing to do; For whatever it takes to be more like You, That’s what I’ll be willing to do. I’ll trade sunshine for rain, comfort for pain, That’s what I’ll be willing to do; For whatever it takes for my will to break, That’s what I’ll be willing to do. Take the dearest things to me, if that’s how it must be, To draw me closer to Thee; Let the disappointments come, the lonely days without the sun, If through sorrow more like You I’ll become! Take my houses and lands, Change my dreams and my plans, For I’m placing my whole life in Your hands; And if You call me today to a land far away, Lord, I’ll go and Your will obey.

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed, He’ll prepare for us a place. When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory. While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav’ling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving ev’ry day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory, Will the toils of life repay. Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open, We shall tread the streets of gold.

WE’LL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER BY AND BY Here we’re often tossed and driven on the restless sea of time, Rolling clouds and howling tempest oft succeed a bright sunshine; In that land of perfect day, when the mist is rolled away, We will understand it better by and by. By and by, when the morning comes, All the saints of God are gathered home, We’ ll tell the story how we’ve overcome, And we’ll understand it better by and by. We are often destitute of the things that life demands, Want of shelter and of food, with thirsty hills and barren land; But we’re trusting in the Lord, and according to His Word, We will understand it better by and by. Trials hard on ev’ry hand, and we cannot understand, All the ways that God will lead us to that blessed promised land; But He’ll guide us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die, We will understand it better by and by. Here temptation’s hidden snare often takes us unaware, And our hearts are made to bleed by some thoughtless word or deed; And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best, But we’ll understand it better by and by.

I’VE ANCHORED IN JESUS Upon life’s boundless ocean where mighty billows roll, I’ve fixed my hope in Jesus, blest anchor of my soul; When trials fierce assail me as storms are gath’ring o’er, I rest upon His mercy and trust Him more. I’ve anchored in Jesus, The storms of life I’ll brave, I’ve anchored in Jesus, I fear no wind or wave; I’ve anchored in Jesus, for He hath pow’r to save, I’ve anchored in the Rock of Ages. He keeps my soul from evil and gives me blessed peace, His voice has stilled the waters and bid their tumult cease; My Pilot and Deliv’rer, to Him I all confide, For always when I need Him, He’s at my side. He is my Friend and Saviour, in Him my anchor’s cast, He drives away my sorrows and shields me from the blast; By faith I’m looking upward beyond life’s troubled sea, There I behold a haven prepared for me.

AT THE BATTLE’S FRONT I’ve enlisted for life in the army of the Lord, Though the fight may be long and the struggle fierce and hard; With the armor of God and the Spirit’s trusty sword, At the front of the battle you will find me. Hear the tramp! tramp! tramping of the army, The triumph shouting the foe we’re routing; Hear the tramp! tramp! tramping of the army, Marching on to victory; I’m in this army, this glorious army And the God of battles will defend me, I’m in this army, this glorious army, At the front of the battle you will find me. With the banner of love and of holiness unfurled, Full salvation proclaim to a sinful, dying world; Tho’ the darts thick and fast from the enemy be hurled; At the front of the battle you will find me. Is your name, friend, enrolled with the loyal ones and true? Will you dare now to stand with the Saviour’s faithful few? Will you join with me now and the covenant renew? At the front of the battle you will find me.

THE CHURCH OF GOD FLAG PLEDGE I pledge allegiance to our Church Flag, and to the doctrine for which it stands— one God, one Faith, one Mind, and one Church for all. Amen!

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE BIBLE I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word. I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I will hide its words in my heart That I might not sin against God.
