The safety and success of our military and government officials serving at home or abroad defending our Country are prayed for daily. Each should be recognized for their outstanding commitment to risk their lives so we can remain free. Members of our Parish who have family or friends in the service have given us their names which can be found in our Remembrance books found in both churches in front of one of the side altars. We encourage you to stop there, say a prayer for those listed and for all our service people. To add a name to our prayer list, please call Barbara 732-449-5392 or Karen 732-685-7065 or [email protected].

RENEWING LIVES and RESTORING HOPE This year our parish has been selected by Catholic Charities for the Light of Hope Award for Monmouth County. This award is being given in recognition of our Parish's support of Catholic Charities over many years. This award will be made at the Guardian Angel Dinner Dance on September 27, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Princeton, New Jersey. This year's Guardian Angel Dinner Dance is the 25th anniversary of this event which is the major fund raiser for Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton just celebrated its 100th. anniversary in providing critical services for local people in need. The needs are many and include care for the sick, the hungry, the abused, the homeless. Many think our tax dollars cover these basic services, but this is often not the case. Instead, it is private nonprofits organizations that people depend on for some of their every day needs. For many, New Jersey residents, that organization is Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton Every year, Catholic Charities provides essential services to over 100,000 residents in the four counties that comprise our diocese; namely, Mercer, Burlington, Ocean and Monmouth. Catholic Charities programs are designed to help people and families maximize their potential and achieve self- sufficiency. To provide these services Catholic Charities needs to raise funds; in that regard, they are very efficient, over 90 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to programs for the poor and needy. In later bulletins, we will describe some of the Catholic Charities programs and the results they achieve.

ST. CATHARINE CLASSICS Thursday, June 19th Fr. Keith Pecklers, (son of Mary Pecklers), a Jesuit Professor at Vatican University in Rome, will speak to us about the Vatican since the arrival of Pope Francis at 7:00 PM in St. Margaret Church. No reservations necessary. Refreshments will be served. Chairmen – Mary & Dick Mercora

CANDLELIGHT BALL PLEASE

SAVE THE DATE!

We’ve moved the date back to the end of summer (August 23) and hopefully, we will be able to sell tickets for “dinner and dancing” AS WELL AS “dancing only” tickets. We hope to recognize Msgr. Luebking for his 25 years of service in the Parish and wish him well in his retirement. We also plan to formally welcome Fr. Harold Cullen, our new pastor. The 48th Annual Candlelight Ball will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014. 

We need volunteers

to sell raffle tickets at weekend

Masses. The volunteer signs up to cover one Mass on a weekend. The volunteer should come a little early to their assigned Mass time (about 10-15 minutes) and take over the container of tickets etc. from the volunteer who had the prior Mass. After Mass the volunteer sells the tickets until the next volunteer shows up- it’s really pretty simple!  We need volunteers to call businesses and services on our lists.  We also need volunteers to canvas restaurants and local shops for gift certificates. Join us! We have some fun. Please e-mail [email protected] or call 732-449-5765 x 171. Even if you can’t help by joining a committee or sell raffle tickets, set aside Saturday, August 23, 2014 and plan to join us. But watch your mail closely and make reservations as soon as they come out. We expect to sell out quickly!

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We, the Catholic community of St. Catharine - St. Margaret, gather in Christ's name to nurture spiritual growth through the various stages and challenges of life. We are committed through liturgy, sacraments and parish activities - to proclaim the message of the Gospel, to provide a quality Catholic education for children and adults, to continue to build community and to serve those in need. Rich in the traditions established in this community during the last century, we challenge ourselves to live our faith in loving service to the community's residents and its many summer visitors. We affirm our concern for all members of the Mystical Body of Christ everywhere and particularly those who require assistance. And always, we seek to know and love God and to love our neighbor as Jesus taught us.
