RULES & REGULATIONS On entering this show you agree to abide by the following regulations: WELSH PONY & COB SOCIETY - the show is held under the governing body of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society (WPCS) and exhibitors agree to be bound by the Society’s rules and regulations where applicable upon entry. BREED REGISTRATION - all entries must be registered with the WPCS and foals eligible for registration. Registration details required on the entry forms must be given in full and may be checked. Entries without will be returned. FOALS - to be a minimum of 3 weeks of age and their dam must accompany foals into the show ring. JUDGES - the judges’ decision is final. The committee reserve the right to change/substitute judges without warning. ENTRIES - any that are late, without correct detail or entry fee will be returned. Entry fees will not be returned in the case of error or cancellation of entries or postponement/cancellation of the show for whatsoever reason. No substitution will be permitted in any section or event. The Society reserves full and free right to refuse to accept any entry, to cancel any entry after being made and accepted, to refuse admission to the show ground of any proposed exhibit and/or to remove or order to be removed at the risk and expense of the owner thereof any exhibit which has been admitted to the show ground. There shall be no obligation upon the Show Committee to make or offer any explanation or reason for any such action and the Show Committee shall not incur any liability in this matter. EXHIBITOR NUMBERS - all to be collected on the day. HEADWEAR - anyone riding a horse/pony, at any time, MUST wear a hard hat to comply with British Standard Specification BSI with safety harness correctly fitted and securely fastened. LIABILITIES - the Show will take all reasonable steps to prevent accidents to persons or injury to property, neither the Committee nor its’ Officers or Servants accept responsibility for such accidents or injuries howsoever caused and whether or not involving negligence on the part of any such officers or servants. The show its’ officers or servants, shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused, that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant, or to any article, animal or property brought onto the show ground, or while entering or leaving the show ground. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may have been done to or occasioned by, or arising from, any machinery, or other article, or any animal or property exhibited by him. It is a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall indemnify and hold harmless the Show from and against all actions, suits and claims on account of such damage or injury. TIMETABLE - it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to be in the ring at the scheduled time. Every care will be undertaken to adhere to times but classes may be cancelled, amalgamated, divided or moved depending on entries at closing date. All such changes will be prior notified on our facebook page and will be announced or posted for information at secretary’s on the day. Horses may arrive at any time before the judging of their class, and may leave when dismissed by the judge. Late entry into a class will be at the judges’ discretion and subject to WPCS rules. Classes will not be delayed while competitors or animals are in another ring. Any exhibit leaving a class to do so must have the judges’ permission. STABLING - limited stabling is available (no bedding) on a first come first served basis. They must be booked with an entry and will be available from 3pm Sat 9th August. Anyone found using a stable that hasn’t been booked or paid for will be billed and may be disqualified. Stables MUST be left in a clean condition. MEASUREMENT - animals can be measured at the judges’ discretion, unless J.M.B. certificates are produced. DISEASE - no animal will be accepted on to the show ground with any sign of disease as confirmed by an appointed Veterinary Surgeon. Offending animals must be removed from the show ground immediately. ROSETTES & PRIZE MONEY - prize money is awarded in National Championship Classes only and is posted directly to the owner stated on your entry form as soon after the event as is possible. Rosettes to 6th place unless detailed otherwise in the schedule. OBJECTIONS - must be made in writing to the show secretary together with a £20 deposit within half an hour of the end of the event concerned being judged. If the objection is not upheld the money will be forfeited. NOVICE RIDDEN CLASSES - a Novice exhibit must not have won a 1st prize before 1st January 2014 in the discipline in which it is competing. All exhibits must be 4yrs or over. OPEN RIDDEN CLASSES - All exhibits must be 4yrs or over. Riders may be any age unless specified in class details. LEAD REIN & FIRST RIDDEN CLASSES - All Lead Reins must be shown in a snaffle bridle with the lead rein attached to the noseband only. FRs may be shown in any suitable bridle. See class details for permitted age of rider. STALLIONS - Riders of stallions 138cms & under must have attained their 12th birthday. Riders of stallions over 138cms must have attained their 14th birthday. In hand Stallions must be led by a person 14yrs and over. SECTION CHAMPIONSHIPS - 1st and 2nd placed exhibits may compete all Section Championships. PARKING - Vehicles must only park in designated areas. No parking is permitted on approach verges or roadways. QUALIFIERS ON THE DAY - will (upon payment of entry) be given a qualifier card that must be shown to gain entry to the respective National Championship Class. Horse of the Year Show Metalwood Fencing & The Arab Horse Society Ridden Partbred Pony of the Year Championship Qualifier 2014 Sponsored by THE ROSEDALE STUD The following classes are qualifiers for the Metalwood Fencing and The Arab Horse Society Ridden Partbred Pony of the Year Championship, N.E.C., Birmingham, 8th – 12th October 2014. This competition is open to stallions, mares or geldings 4 years old and over, registered in the part-bred section of the Welsh Pony & Cob Stud Books with a minimum of 12.5% Welsh blood. This class will be run under the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rule book.
Class 65. METALWOOD FENCING & THE ARAB HORSE SOCIETY RIDDEN WELSH PARTBRED PONY - stallion, mare or gelding 4yrs and over, not exc 148cms. Additional Rules as follows: 1. Animals must not exceed 148cm. 2. A copy of the pony’s passport, showing its registration or overstamping with the WPCS, must be logged with Grandstand Media Ltd prior to entry in any qualifying round. 3. All ponies must be shown plaited, and all riders should wear formal showing attire – for the purposes of uniformity, Tweed would be deemed inappropriate. 4. Riders and Owners must be members of either NPS, P(UK), TSR, BSPS, CHAPS, AHS or WPCS. 5. Riders can be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year. 6. Qualification will not pass below 5th Place.
Judging Guidelines. 1. Judges may be selected from ridden pony panels of the NPS, TSR, P(UK), BSPS, CHAPS, AHS or WPCS. 2. Judges may only judge one qualifier during the current year. 3. Marks must be awarded in the following way:
Performance - 50 Marks Maximum & Conformation, Movement & Quality – 50 Marks Maximum. In the case of equality, the horse with the highest Performance mark will be deemed the winner. If there still be equality at this point, then the judges’ decision will be final. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Entry Fee: £35 (Including £11.00 Horse of the Year Show contribution) Late entries accepted on the day at a fee of £50 per class. Prize Money: 1st £40, 2nd £30 & 3rd £20.

The following classes are qualifiers for the NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds Ridden Mountain & Moorland Pony of the Year Championship, N.E.C., Birmingham, 8th - 12th October 2014. Class 87. NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section C - stallion, mare or gelding 4yrs & over. Class 88. NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Ridden Welsh Section D - stallion, mare or gelding 4yrs & over. Riders can be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions who must have attained their 12th birthday (small breeds) or 14th birthday (large breeds) before 1st January in the current year. Correct riding attire must be worn, spurs are not allowed and whips must not exceed 30”. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant breed societies. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, Ponies (UK), The Showing Register, or BSPS. Judges may only judge one Horse of the Year Show M&M Ridden qualifying competition during the current year. Marks must be awarded as follows: Show/Freedom of Action: Maximum 50 & Breed Type/Conformation: Maximum 50. In the event of equality, the pony with the highest Show/Freedom of Action mark will be deemed the winner.
Split Classes 1. Where there are more than 20 entries forward in a class, the judges may split the class into sections according to the circumstances on the day. 2. Each section must be marked and the top five ponies with the highest marks should go forward to a final judging. The marks are not to be displayed at this point and no rosettes awarded. 3. For the final judging the top ponies should be invited back into the ring and lined up in any order. No further show will be given. 4. The judges should then refer to their original marks. In the case of equality the pony with the highest show, freedom and action mark will be deemed the winner. If there still be equality at this point, then the judges’ decision will be final. The highest placed animal (not already qualified) from the first three in the final judging will qualify for Horse of the Year Show 2014, subject to verification of qualification from the Horse of the Year Show Office. Please note: Ponies that qualify for this Championship at Horse of the Year Show 2014 must hold a valid JMB Full Height or Annual Certificate, a copy of which must be sent to Grandstand Media Ltd at the time of entry to Horse of the Year Show. JMB certificates are not required to enter this qualifier.
Entry Fee: £35 (Including £11.00 Horse of the Year Show contribution) Late entries accepted on the day at a fee of £50 per class. Prize Money: 1st £40, 2nd £30 & 3rd £20.

• Section Championship - WPCS Performance Medal to the Champion. • 1st - 3rd placed (not qualified) in each class qualify (upon entry) for The Brynseion National Welsh Ridden Championship. • Rosettes to highest placed gelding in each class.

The Malvern Showground is approx 8 miles from the M5 and M50 motorways. Follow the brown signs for The Three Counties Showground from all the main routes. Once in close proximity follow the yellow AA signs. All Welsh National Championship Show exhibitor and spectator traffic must enter the yellow gate directly off the B4209 and park as directed in authorised parking areas. No parking is permitted on verges or access roads.
