Hymn 483

Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above

Prayer of Adoration and Confession in unison please remain seated

Dr. David Renwick Mit Freuden zart

Rev. Evangeline Taylor

Almighty God, beside whom there is no other: We adore you for your grace and mercy. For though we have lifted our hearts to you in praise, our feet too often have walked the ways of evil. And though we have read your commandments, our memories too often have forgotten your word. And though we have seen your face in Jesus Christ, our eyes too often have missed your face in the needs of our neighbor. Yet you remain slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and rich in mercy. Out of you great grace, and through the merit of your Son our Savior, forgive us our sin, cleanse us from all unrighteousness and renew our resolve to live for the praise of your glory.

Silent Confession and Assurance of Pardon Believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

Responding to God’s Grace and Call

Affirmation of Faith

Apostles’ Creed Rev. Donna Marsh I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Offering of Tithes and Gifts Lord, Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace

John Rutter

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; and all for thy mercy’s sake. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Francis of Assisi

Ordination and Installation of New Officers 9:15 a.m. Litany of Ministry

There are different gifts,

But it is the same Spirit who gives them. There are different ways of serving God,

But it is the same Lord who is served. God works through people in different ways,

But it is the same God who achieves his purpose through them all. Each one is given a gift by the Spirit

To use it for the common good.

Within our common ministry, some members are chosen for a particular work as ministers of the Word, ruling elders, or deacons. In ordination we recognize these special ministries, remembering that our Lord Jesus said, “Whoever among you wants to be great must become the servant of all, and if he wants to be first among you, he must be the slave of all.”

Prayer of the Congregation God of grace, who called us to a common ministry as ambassadors of Christ, trusting us with the message of reconciliation, give us courage and discipline to follow you where your servants rightly lead us, that together we may declare your wonderful deeds, and show your love to the world, through Jesus Christ, the Lord of all. Amen.

New Member Recognition and Baptism 11 a.m.

Exchange of Vows and Sacrament of Baptism Prayer God of love, we rejoice to receive theses newest brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. May they discover your grace in Jesus Christ, through membership in this church family. May your love hold them, your truth guide them, your joy delight them. Gracious God, touch us all again this day with your grace of belonging. Give us new lives for old, new spirits, new faith, and new commitment in place of all that has grown tired or stale in our lives. We have heard your call and are made new by your Spirit. So may we rise and go from here to discover whatever awaits us, in joy and in trust. To the glory of your Name. Amen.
