PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE—Dorothy (Jim) Bobo ..........thanks to all delegates and visitors who attended the September GMS&RDA monthly meeting. Demo dances are important because it lets the public know we are dancing and enjoying it. Our flyers are directed at our current dancers. We need more publicity to the general public. I actually had a couple come up to me and say - "We didn't know there were any square dancers in Memphis now." This tells me that we aren't getting enough publicity out to prospective dancers. I danced at the Delta Fair demo with about 30 dancers with Robert Townsend calling and we really enjoyed the demo. Some of our dancers even braved the midway at the Delta Fair. I also danced at the demo at the Davis Library in Southaven, again with Robert calling. We had about 12 dancers for this demo, so we got to take turns dancing. By the time this Caller is received by those getting it in print through the post office, the September 27 demos will be history. I hope we have good attendance at the dances because we have a better opportunity for the public to see us dance at these locations. If you haven't registered for the Mid-South Festival yet, please do so at once. Mike Phillips reports that the numbers are low at this time. We expect this to be a really nice festival with Tony Oxendine and Kay and Robert Kurzcewski. We hope to have some clubs have beginner dance classes starting this month and early October. Yvonne & JJ Johnson and Mary Ann Walker set up a nice display of dance clothes and information at the Davis Library in Southaven and Jim and I will have our display at the Germantown library this week. Most of our clubs have class flyers out. The GMS&RDA picnic will be Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Olive Branch City Park from 1:00 p.m. til 5:00 or until the last person leaves. Come and bring a side dish or dessert. See you there...............Dorothy Bobo
