The Goal Setting Guide “THE KEY TO SUCCESSFUL GOAL SETTING IS TO FEEL YOUR HEART AND LISTEN TO YOUR SUB-CONSCIOUS.” Don’t let your logical mind get in the way or try and consistently answer that nagging questions we all have “How can I achieve this?” Put it out there as a target and then we all have something to aim for. No Goal – No Achievement. The Goal Setting Process that I’d encourage you to use is a simple THREE step process:

STEP 1

Brainstorm and WRITE your goals under three subject headings of: BE, DO and HAVE

STEP 2

Next write a timeframe in which you want to achieve all your goals. (Use 6 months, 1 year, 3 years & 5 years as a guide)

STEP 3

Select and then write down the five (5) most important goals within each timeframe. NOW YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO AIM TOWARDS. If you want to get to the next level we can discuss the process of refining your goals towards achieving a more BALANCED lifestyle.

STEP 1

Brainstorm

When you brainstorm your goals write down the first thing that comes into your mind when you ask: “What do I want to BE, DO or HAVE” I would suggest you do this for AT LEAST 10 minutes. Why 10 minutes? Because most people find it easy to write down a handful of goals in 2-3 minutes and then get stuck. If you do get stuck ask yourself “What ELSE do I want to BE, DO or HAVE.” Give yourself more time and something will come to you. 2

Review the life categories below as a suggestion of things to consider when writing your goals. If you get stuck, look over those categories which will allow your mind to ponder and think of goals relating to those areas in your life. The KEY TO SUCCESS in this goal setting process is to not let your logical mind get in the way. Like a true brainstorm do not edit your ideas. Don’t try and work out how or why that thought has come into your mind. DO write down WHATEVER comes. There is time for editing and making it achievable later. For now – let your mind go free!

STEP 2

Setting Time Frames

Now looking at your beautiful long list it’s time to get some timeframes around these goals. Again, do so without too much logical thought. Just look at the goal and select a timeframe of 1, 3 or 5 years. You can select 10 years if you wish. I often find that 10 year goals are too far away as so much can change. 5 year goals are generally far enough that we can comprehend this timeframe and set defined action steps. So write the number 1, 3 or 5 next to every goal you’ve written.

STEP 3

Choose Your Top 5

You’ve now brainstormed your goals and created a timeframe for each one. The last step I’d like you to do is to select the 5 MOST IMPORTANT goals to you in each timeframe. These top 5 are the goals that when you think about it you are most passionate about. They make you feel emotional or excited in your stomach. You feel the blood pumping that little bit faster. Highlight the 5 most IMPORTANT goals to you in EACH timeframe. From here you can order them in priority of 1 – 5 if you wish. Generally just knowing what they are is all you need to do. At this point you can write them down either in the space provided or write them out somewhere else.

BONUS STEP Make your goals visible. Don’t write them in a book and never look at them again. Put them in your phone, write them out and keep them in your purse/wallet. Re-read them every day or at least every week. And go through this goal setting process every 6 months.

Tips to assist you in writing your goals: When you are ready to write down the 5 most important goals in each timeframe consider including some of the detail below. Be Specific Describe in detail your goal; what will it look like when you have it? What will be you saying to yourself? How will you be feeling? Make it Measurable How will you know when you have it? Give it a Time Ensure you have a date for this goal to be achieved by.

Things to think about prior to brainstorming your goals: Consider the different Categories of your life when writing your goals: Family Social Mental Finance Friends Spiritual Travel Contribution Business Physical Recreation Community Self Development Health Wealth

Lifestyle What do you want to change about your life now? What would you need to do to avoid regrets or disappointments later in life? Choices How would you describe your ideal day? What is stopping you living that ideal day today? Time What do you love to do, but don’t often have the time for? Who would you spend more time with if you could? Income What possessions do you desire? (house, car, boat) What income per month do you need for yourself/family to be comfortable? It’s essential to do this Goal Setting plan with your partner. It’s hard to achieve the life you want if your partner has a complete different idea of your “ideal life” or the plan to get there. Make sure to put goals that you can achieve together, as well as on your own. Goal Setting Guide

Goals, Strategy and Action Goals are the target you are aiming towards in the future. Strategy is the plan, ideas, process that you implement to achieve this goals. Actions are your To Do List of all the steps you need to put in place to make the strategy work. As we have now identified your specific personal goals, dream and aspirations now it’s time to put the plan into motion. You can do that by setting yourself small “bite-sized” tasks each day that take you closer to your goal. If you need help achieving your goals, book a free appointment with a Property Coach (you can do this at the Property Investor Night you’re registered for). At your appointment, the coach will help you find out how building an investment property portfolio can create more time and money to free you to achieve the above goals.

Your initial meeting with the coach will pave a solid foundation to build on for the journey ahead. In this first meeting we will drill down on your personal goals and help you discover the dollar amount you need to achieve the specific goals within the times frames you are aiming at. It could be that you want to cut down your hours of work, pay for your children to go to private school, buy a new car or home or just have a great holiday. All these goals can be defined by dollars required and the time frame put in place. Building a property portfolio can assist your financial goals, by generating extra income in the form of equity. We can teach you how to do this so that you don’t have to wait until 65 or 70 to enjoy retirement. In fact, the sooner you speak with us, the closer you are to quitting your day job and spending more time with your kids. Many people get very busy running around doing “stuff” and chewing through their time but get no results. This is because their activity is not in line with the strategy and plan created to achieve their goals. They often just react to things and don’t think the steps through or go back to old habitual behaviour and keep getting disappointing results.

This is the reason a Property Coach is so important. Your Property Coach will ensure you’re on track to achieve your goals - and if you’re not, will help you get back on the right path. With the Lifetime Mentoring Program, you learn by doing. It’s practical application, not listening to a 20 audio discs at home or reading a reference book 4 inches thick. You can email, phone or SMS so support is always close at hand. We will help you take advantage of the real estate opportunities available and help you navigate unnecessary risks.

Attend the Property Investor Night to put your plan into action. Don’t forget to take your completed goals worksheet on the night!
