Amen. A reading from the prophet Jeremiah (29: 10-14) 10 For thus says the LORD: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. 12 Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. 13 When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me, says the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. 2

Song:

For I know the plans VBS Crew For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. (x2) They are plans for good and not disaster. Plans to give hope and a future. They are plans for good and not for evil. Why? Because He tells us so. For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. (x2)

*The Holy Gospel Luke 7:36-8:3 The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke. Glory to you, Lord Christ. One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and took his place at the table. And a woman in the city, who was a sinner, having learned that he was eating in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment. She stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to bathe his feet with her tears and to dry them with her hair. Then she continued kissing his feet and anointing them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him-- that she is a sinner." Jesus spoke up and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." "Teacher," he replied, "Speak." "A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he canceled the debts for both of them. Now which of them will love him more?" Simon answered, "I suppose the one for whom he canceled the greater debt." And Jesus said to him, "You have judged rightly." Then turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has bathed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet. You 3

did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which were many, have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little." Then he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." But those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sermon ............................................ The Rev. Pierre-Henry Buisson *Song: Children of God VBS Crew We belong to you, our God. We will never be alone, Because you give us all a great big family, and we are yours forevermore. Lord we are yours forevermore. We are the children of God (x2) Your love has brought us together. We are the children of God… *Prayers of the People Written and read by the children In your mercy, Lord hear our prayer Confession of Sin (Enriching our Worship 1) God of all mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you, opposing your will in our lives. We have denied your goodness in each other, in ourselves, and in the world you have created. We repent of the evil that enslaves us, the evil we have done, and the evil done on our behalf. Forgive, restore, and strengthen us through our Savior Jesus Christ, that we may abide in your love and serve only your will. Amen. The Absolution *The Peace The peace of the Lord be always with you. *The Presentation .............................................. Hymn 380, verse 3 Praise God from all blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures here below, Praise Him above, ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. *The Great Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. How wonderful is the work of your hands, O Lord. You made us in love, and as a mother tenderly gathers her children, you embrace all people as your own. We praise you; we bless you; we thank you. When we turn away from you, your love remains steadfast. We praise you; we bless you; we thank you. You sent Jesus Christ to share our human life, and to show us the path of healing and salvation. He cured the sick; he cared for the poor and wept with those who were sad. He forgave sinners and taught us to forgive each other. We praise you; we bless you; we thank you. With a love stronger than death, Jesus gave his life for us on the cross, and rose again on Easter morning. Therefore, joining with 5

Angels and archangels, with Luke and with the faithful of every generation we lift up our voices with all creation as we say: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! On the night before he died for us, Jesus had supper with his disciples. He took the bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends and said: “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” The body of Christ given for us. After supper he took the cup of wine; gave thanks, and gave it to his friends and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is given for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me.” The blood of Christ given for us. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died! Christ is risen! Christ will come again! Gracious God, send your Holy Spirit upon this bread and wine; let them be for us the Body and Blood of Jesus. As we eat and drink these holy gifts, make us one in Christ our risen Lord. Bring us into your Kingdom: bless the earth, heal the sick, and let the oppressed go free. All this we ask through your son Jesus Christ our Savior: By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN! The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
