The Big Parade and Mardi Gras Festivale have been providing free, live entertainment in downtown Sioux City since 1994. Nearly 30,000 people come for this annual Mardi Grasstyle celebration, which is always held close to the 4th of July holiday. This year’s festivities will be on the evening of Thursday, July 3rd.

The Big Parade The Big Parade will be partying Louisiana style on Sioux City’s Historic 4th Street for nearly one mile, traveling east from Water to Iowa Streets. The Big Parade features a Mardi Gras theme with floats, costumes, flags, high-stepping marching bands and most importantly BEADS! The Big Parade will be broadcast live on KTIV.

Mardi Gras Festivale The high energy Mardi Gras Festivale is taking over the Sioux City Convention Center shortly after the end of the parade. 2014’s theme is “20 Years of Friendship”. Enjoy the show for free, or purchase a reserved seat which includes an authentic Cajun meal, prepared by Chefs Al Clark and Bob Dowd. The famous “Taste of Louisiana” dinner features chicken and sausage gumbo, rice, Cajun potato salad, dinner rolls and sugar cookies.

Fireworks / Zydeco Band After the Mardi Gras Festivale, the fun moves back outside for live entertainment in the Convention Center parking lot, with food and a zydeco band. At dusk, the skies of downtown Sioux City will be painted with the colors of fireworks. What a great finishing touch to a fun-filled evening in downtown Sioux City!
