Idea of a single certificate was developed
from 2013 - 2015 • Requirements – – – – –
A single certificate Open to all interested parties Transparent and strong to create trust in the market place Mutually accepted no minimal requirements
Indirectly, due to Ecodesign, minimum requirements will apply (eta s, noise)
• Need to incorporate a transition period for the different existing schemes:
EHPA – quality label, MCS in UK, NF-Pac in France, heat pumps positive list in Denmark, Harp list in Ireland • Consideration of cooperation with existing schemes, development of EHPA certificate • Conclusion: development of CEN HP KEYMARK as a sufficient proof of heat pump quality in Europe 3

European heat pump KEYMARK • ISO type 5 system according to ISO 17065 – – – –
One set of test requirements Application via empowered bodies Factory Production Control (FPC) A quality assurance system
• Open for all interested certification bodies • Mutually accepted in all EU Member States

What is tested?
Definition of a type • Type: defined by the manufacturer
same heat source, heat sink and driving energy (gas, electricity etc.). • types covered by the KEYMARK Scheme – – – –
10
Air/water heat pumps Water/water (including brine/water) heat pumps Exhaust air/water heat pumps Direct expansion/water heat pumps
European HEATPUMP KEYMARK | Overview | 2015
What is tested?
Definition of a sub-type • Part of a type • identical refrigeration circuit design and – Identical compressor (same manufacturer and commercial reference) – Identical condenser and evaporator (same manufacturer and commercial reference) – Same defrost process (when relevant) – Expansion device: same technology
• For DHW heat pumps – Same tank volume – Same heat exchanger 11
European HEATPUMP KEYMARK | Overview | 2015
What is tested?
Definition of a model • „heat pumps using identical refrigeration circuits, but otherwise differ in design“ • As examples – – – –
With or with-out integrated circulator pump(s) With or with-out integrated storage tank With or without integrated back up heater Different sizes and corrosion protection of storage tank(s) – Different location and dimensions on pipe connections – Different brand names 12
European HEATPUMP KEYMARK | Overview | 2015
Admission test • Manufacturer declares data for all sub-types • Manufactures provides min. 3 units (traceable by serial number) to certification body (CB) • CB picks one of these and indicates testing conditions (climate/part load conditions) • Manufacturer orders the test with a recognized lab (Annex H) • Per 5 sub-types in a type, one sub-type is tested

Surveillance test • One sub-type per type and manufacturing site • If type consist of heating and combi-heaters, at least one combination heater needs to be tested. • Unit to be chosen during factory inspection • Certification body determines testing conditions • To be tested – Heating mode: standard rating pint, bivalent point COP and P at one part load condition – Sound power level Devia&on from declared values triggers “penalty scheme”! – If applicable: COPDHW 16

What does that mean for the EHPA Quality label • Quality label will continue to receive support from EHPA – Maintenance and hosting of database and website – Organization of meetings
• Future to be re-assessed after 3 years • HP KEYMARK will be added as an alternative to test report in Quality label • On national level: KEYMARK shall be supported; National association shall not lobby for a connection of the Quality label to subsidies. QL strictly end consumer quality orientated. • QLC meetings continue, possibly less frequent, only members that use the QL • Technical group integrated in KEYMARK 3rd party test labs group, SG-HP 25
