DREAM, LEARN, CREATE, BECOME...MORE. RedLine Milwaukee, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is an urban laboratory that seeks to nourish the individual practice of contemporary art an to stimulate the creative potential of the local community to which we are linked. Through residency, education, outreach and challenging exhibition programs with a focus on social justice, RedLine inspires and impacts new generations of cultural and civic transformers. Welcome to RedLine Milwaukee, arts incubator! Ambition.

It’s a word we hear often when we introduce

newcomers to RedLine. Our model is ambitious. We serve kids, families, professionals, and the creative community through a host of programs; Residency, Exhibition, Education, and a Community Studio complete with Print, Paper, and Dye Lab. At RedLine, there is a place for everyone. Dreamers. Early on, that’s what people called us. We admit it, we dreamed about this concept of an arts incubator here in Milwaukee for more than a decade. We are fortunate that others have agreed to make this dream their own. Dumb. Some just called us dumb, and they may have been right. That’s why we have surrounded ourselves with people much smarter than we are. As we celebrate our Third Birthday, Fourth Fashion Show, and Second RePurposed Runway Contest, we thank and owe a great debt to those who have built RedLine; Board Members, Donors, Artists, Educators, Volunteers, Partnering Organizations, Students, Program Participants, Supporters, the list is long. We are not short on talent either. Board members Mark Hines and Terrell Morgan rolled up their sleeves again this year and spent countless hours creating this catalogue. We are especially grateful to Bruce Paul Goodman Clothier, De Riah Hair Design, and Clint King, RedLine’s maintenance supervisor. They were with

us for that first show, as the contractors pounded that last nail and the dust was being swept out the back door, they put together an event that introduced us to the Milwaukee community. Their continued support is priceless. And finally, we thank Judy Montgomery, our Community Board President who had the initial vision to produce a fashion show at RedLine, and was the one sweeping that dust the first year. Lynn Petrie, our Marketing Director, joined with Judy to create this Design Contest. We graciously thank them all and thank you for spending this evening with us. Sometimes, dreams do come true.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY ZOO Milwaukee County Zoo 10001 West Bluemound Road Milwaukee, WI 53226 414-256-5412 In order to conserve water and prevent flooding, the Milwaukee County Zoo has replaced several large asphalt walkways with permeable pavers that resemble brick roadways The pavers act like sponges to absorb surface water from rainstorms, filter it and slowly release it back into the earth. Rain gardens were often placed next to permeable pavements. During heavy rainfalls, excess water that gathers under the permeable pavers can drain into a nearby sunken rain garden. The rainwater nourishes native plants like showy goldenrods and little bluestems. These plants have roots that hold together the sandy soil used in the garden, which prevents erosion.

Timothy is a fiber artist who focuses on sustainable clothing and is currently the Pfister Hotel’s Artist in Residence.  Timothy chose Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest as his icon.  Timothy attempted to “recycle” as many ways as possible in his concept.  The 1980’s looks were very clearly “recycled” looks of the 1940’s.   With the incorporation of 1940s lines, 1980’s colors and wire hangers, Mommie Dearest became the perfect fit. Timothy invests in making what he affectionately calls “Zero Impact Art.”  He uses non-electric equipment for making his garments such as a 19th century treadle sewing machine and a hand operated floor loom.

A gown Angelia Jolie wore on the red carpet inspired Tessa’s idea for the theme of the “OverRated Dress.” The idea of how people are rated and judged with numbers came to mind when Angelia stuck her leg out of a slit gown at the Academy Awards and everyone criticized and scrutinized her for doing this simple thing. Tessa relates to this dress because he felt that people have been rating every aspect of her body since she was a child because she has Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome.
