3 COMMON RIP-OFFS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BEFORE CHOOSING AN ATM COMPANY RIP-OFF #1: RIDICULOUSLY LOW QUOTES Before you leap into a victory dance over a low price quote, take another look at the big picture. There are some crooked, or fly by night companies out there who will low-ball a quote just to get customers in the door. What they won't tell you upfront is that they are already planning to charge you for supplies, statement fees, monthly fees, or additional services that have not been included in the quote, and you’re not likely to know about it until it is too late and you have already entered into an agreement! Or worse… a ridiculously low quote could result in used or refurbished ATM hardware, or equipment that may need frequent repairs. Either way this “low” quote could ultimately cost you much more than it should if you partnered with a reputable company from day one! If the “bargain” you’re being sold sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Follow these four simple steps to protect yourself: - Verify everything that is included in the initial quote and request an itemized write-up.

4

- Find out if a certified ATM technician will be installing and working on your ATM when needed, and how much experience they have in the ATM industry. - Ask if there is a manufacturer’s warranty and how long it is. - Only work with companies that communicate well and are straightforward with you, giving you multiple options and the pros and cons of each option. Quality ATM service is never as cheap as some unethical companies would like you to believe, so beware when you receive a ridiculously low quote.

RIP-OFF #2: BAIT AND SWITCH Some crooked ATM companies promise commissions that seem way to good to be true. At times, these promises are made to get you to sign a long-term contract, when they have every intention of later on telling you they are unable to maintain that level of payout. Be careful as this one runs rampant in the industry. Real businesses have real expenses, and if it seems too good to be true, beware! To protect yourself:  Find out how long they’ve been in business.  Do they have a physical location you can visit?  Ask if they have full time service and office staff. Most importantly, you should do your research to find an ATM company you can trust from day one. You’ll find fair prices, fair commissions, fewer headaches and protect yourself and your business by ensuring a profitable and efficient ATM relationship.

RIP-OFF #3: SKIMMING YOUR COMMISSIONS Believe it or not, there are companies that employ predatory practices. It is an unfortunate and often unspoken truth that some ATM companies will skim from your commissions. They will wait a few months down the road until their customer gets comfortable, and then slowly begin to skim a little each month off your commission. Even just $10 per month from dozens of customers can quickly add up, and the bad guys know it. We advise everyone to request monthly statements, and ALWAYS reconcile your accounts accordingly.

4 COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ATM COMPANIES Misconception #1: All ATM Companies Are Basically The Same While many times the services that different ATM companies offer are indeed similar, you MUST have trust in the company you select to partner with for your ATM(s). If something just doesn’t feel right, there is a good chance it isn’t. Are they responsive to your questions when you are doing your due diligence? Do they answer your questions in language you understand? Do you feel comfortable entrusting your money in their hands? Do you believe they will be there for you when you need them? What are their office hours? Do they have a 24/7 tech support line in case you encounter after hours issues? Bottom line, it will always boil down to honesty, integrity, and how they treat you – the prospective customer. Are they just interested in their profits, or are they interested in YOUR profits, YOUR customers, and ultimately building a long-term relationship with you? Ask for references… When it comes to choosing the right ATM company to partner with, go with your gut!

Misconception #2: They Will Always Choose The Best Location For Your ATM Just like in real estate, ‘Location, Location, Location’ is supremely important. Don’t allow a lazy, outsourced service person dictate the placement of your ATM. Your ATM should be in a highly visible, easily accessible area, usually by the front of your business in a highly trafficked area. ATM usage can be increased by as much as 100% if your ATM had previously not been placed correctly. A reputable company will have one of their experts consult with you to determine the best and ultimately most profitable location. Misconception #3: The ATM Installer Will Properly Install Signage To Maximize ATM Transactions This is most often the reason for lackluster performance in ATMs at locations with solid foot traffic. Again, beware the lazy, outsourced service person that rushes through your installation because he gets paid by the amount of jobs completed in a day.

6

Properly displayed signage that is strategically placed in different areas of a business can increase ATM usage significantly. Many ATM companies overlook this very important piece of the puzzle in an attempt to cut costs when it comes to providing proper signage to their customers. Be sure signage is displayed to attract the maximum amount of customers. Misconception #4: ATM Companies Always Choose The Most Cost Effective Communications Method For The Customer Internet or cellular wireless devices for communications have come such a long way in just the last couple of years. In the old days, all ATMs communicated via standard POTS phone lines. While efficient and effective, over the years, breakthroughs in technology, specifically internet and cellular technologies have opened up more options. Some ATM companies are still comfortable in their 1990’s skin, and have not come up with the times and technology when it comes to communications. Many times, there can be significant cost savings by cancelling phone lines and going to either internet or wireless communications. Savings can be as high as $400 per year per ATM, and that could certainly add up to some chain stores with multiple locations.

6 COSTLY MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN CHOOSING AN ATM COMPANY MISTAKE #1: Choosing An ATM Company That Doesn’t Communicate Well Or Who Has Poor Customer Service Skills While your first step should always be verifying that the ATM company has been in business more than five years, has references you can speak with, and has a physical location you can visit, there is a second step that is often overlooked that can weigh heavily on your encounter with the ATM partner you choose. For a worry free relationship, work with an ATM company that has strong communication skills and excellent customer service. A reputable ATM company will take the time to explain how everything works, offer alternatives and options if any are available, discuss problems, and tell you about the training and experience of their staff. MISTAKE #2: Choosing An ATM company Based On A Super-Low Quote

7

Remember, you get what you pay for… Here are THREE REASONS that choosing based solely on a low price quote can be disastrous: 1. You’re very likely to get hit with an unexpected fees and costs that were not included in the initial quote or discussed earlier. 2. You may be getting a lower quality, or unreliable ATM. Always go with industry leading brands. 3. You may end up with a poor installation, and continual problems with the ATM and/or the processing of the transactions. Why fall for a cheaper than dirt advertisement that will force you to spend more one way or another? Work with an ethical company who cares about keeping your business and your customers, and who is invested in building a lasting working relationship for years to come. MISTAKE #3: Choosing An ATM Company Without A Full Free Consultation Don’t waste your time if the ATM company doesn’t ask questions about your business. Basic cookie cutter type answers to questions will not always reveal the best ATM program for your business. Your business is personal to you, and at Ocean ATM, we respect and understand that. Reputable companies will consult with you and ask questions like: 1. Is your primary concern to generate profits from the ATM surcharge revenue, or get the convenience of cash in your customers’ hands to boost in store sales? 2. Are you open to purchasing your own ATM if it makes the most sense to you? 3. Would you rather have a fully turnkey solution so that you can focus on your core business? In essence, they should take an interest in your wants and needs, and not be solely concerned in selling you what will be the most profitable for them. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for references. Any reputable ATM company will have a list of happy customers that will be happy to speak the praises of the company. MISTAKE #4: Choosing An ATM company Who Doesn’t Offer An Extended Warranty!

8

Most ATMs come with a limited time manufacturer’s warranty. Reputable ATM companies offer extended warranty programs to cover repairs once the manufacturer’s warranty period is over.

Be careful how the warranty is priced. Sometimes, they will have a deductible like insurance companies, sometimes they won’t. Sometimes they charge monthly fees that you pay regardless of how busy the ATM is, and how minimal the wear and tear may be. We’ve found a very small per transaction fee makes the most sense, because it is directly related to the usage of the ATM and is the most fair to the customer. Forty to fifty cents per transaction is common in the industry. Always ask if a reasonable warranty is available and then make sure that it is included in a written agreement. MISTAKE #5: Choosing an ATM company without Getting the Real Scoop from Past Customers Too many people fall victim to low-ball quotes and big promises about exaggerated commission payouts. Never choose an ATM company on their word alone. See if they have any testimonials on their website to review. Do they even have a corporate website? Make sure you ask for references. If no reference is made available to you, go online and search for comments and feedback from current and past customers or other complaint monitoring organizations. This is critical to relieving worries about being ripped-off and left unsatisfied, and needing to begin the search all over again for a new ATM partner. This little bit of extra time and effort can save you from a lot of hassle and heartache.

MISTAKE #6: Not Knowing What to Ask About and Expect From an ATM Company Most consumers consult with an ATM company with little to no knowledge about what they should expect. - Get a written and signed agreement that spells out the terms of your relationship. - Ask the following: When will your vault cash deposits take place if you fill the cash? When will your monthly commissions be paid out? Are there Monday deposits from weekend transactions? Do you have the choice of daily commission deposits?

9

- Other questions to ask are: Is there a monthly statement fee? Do you get free signage? Are supplies such as receipt paper free or do you need to pay for them? Do you have access to online monitoring of your ATM? To protect yourself there are things that you must require and expect from the ATM company you are considering. Never be afraid to ask questions.

7 GUIDELINES TO FINDING A REPUTABLE ATM COMPANY As we said in the beginning, finding and choosing a reputable and experienced ATM company can be a very daunting task. However, if you follow these 7 guidelines, this information will help to narrow it down: GUIDELINE #1: Ask a friend or someone you know for a referral. This can be a good way to find an ATM company you can trust and one with which you feel comfortable. GUIDELINE #2: Check with local convenience store owners. Ask them about their experience and whom they recommend. GUIDELINE #3: Be certain they have a website, and are professional in appearance. Browse around to make sure they have current information and technologies displayed. GUIDELINE #4: Make sure the company has full time service and office personnel, so that if an issue arises, you can promptly have them addressed and resolved. There is nothing worse than not knowing where to turn, or how you will be able to resolve a problem. GUIDELINE #5: Do a little research to see if they have any Better Business Bureau complaints or any other online complaints. GUIDELINE #6: After choosing your ATM company, make sure to receive a written agreement that spells out the terms you are both agreeing to. GUIDELINE #7: Once you are comfortable and select the ATM company you want to partner with, find out when they will be able to do your installation. This way you will know when to have the ATM site prepared for. Typically, it is 7-10 days out unless you are in an urgent rush and they agree to accommodate you. Once you’ve settled on an ATM company that you trust, it will be important that there are open lines of communication throughout the pre-installation, installation, and postinstallation phases. Make sure they stay in close contact with you, and keep you informed every step of the way. Take the time to find an experienced and reputable ATM company that has your best interests in mind and one you are comfortable with. Ultimately, TRUST is the most important factor in making your choice.
