Respite providers receive regular supervision form our clinical tam (psychologist. social worker, cognitive specialist) helping to ensure quality care for your child(ren). Families must have Calgary Rocky View Child & Family Services involvement and no other respite resources. COCHRANE CHILD CARE REGISTRY - If you live in the Cochrane area and are looking for a local respite child care/respite provider, the Family and Community Resource Centre has a child care registry you may access. Call (403) 932 – 3400 for more information.



www.canadiansitter.ca - Canadian Sitter is an online connection for parents to find baby sitters in their area. All sitters are current university or college students, many in child-related fields (nursing, education, etc.). Many wish to work with special needs children as respite providers. There is a registration fee for service and you must be able to access the internet to take advantage of their babysitting registry. Please visit their website at http://www.canadiansitter.ca

Early Learning Centre – (403) 229 – 2900 - Sabrina Isabelle. 24 hours, 7 days a week childcare/respite care for ages 2 – 12. Has experience with special needs children, therefore looking to take in children with special needs. Does not have wheelchair access. Central area.

Catherine Kellendonk – (403) 938 – 1662. Catherine is a Psychiatric nurse and has owned/operated a family care home for 17 years. Catherine wishes to provide respite and/or long-term care in her home. She has worked with many types and levels of disability in addition to emotionally fragile and medically fragile. Okotoks.

Linda Krahn - (403) 212-0029. Linda’s experience working with children with disabilities is very

knowledgeable. For two years she has worked with children, at the Providence Children’s Centre as well as at Heartland Agency. Linda would l like the chance to help families who have children with disabilities. Whether that requires driving the child to their doctors appointments or just taking the child to the park for a couple of hours so the parent(s) can get some rest. Linda would prefer to work day time hours; up to six hours a day: and can be every day. 4. Sandra Pallister – (403) 257-3437. Sandra is interested in giving support via respite services, to families who have children with special needs. Sandra has over 10 years experience working with children. She has been an On-Call Child Care worker, Program Leader for the city of Calgary, a Playschool Teacher and a Preschool Educator at CUPS – One World Child Development Centre in Downtown Calgary. Her qualifications begin with the Standard First Aide with Emergency Child Care and CPR, Level three – Advanced Certificate with the Alberta family and Social Services, as well as American Sign Language Level 1. S.E Area. 5. Marie Friesen – (403) 251-1090. Marie would like to provide Respite to families who have children with disabilities. Marie has ten years experience working with children with disabilities working with the school board as a teaching assistant. She has Behavioural Management skills and knowledge of Sign Language Learning. Marie is bilingual; speaking English and French and is trained in First Aid and CPR. Marie has also volunteered as a Support Worker at the Beverly care Centre and the Bethany Society. Marie also was a volunteer at the Canadian Red Cross Society. N.E area. 6. Alanna and Lindsey’s Respite Program – (403) 938-8221. Alanna and Lindsey (mother and daughter team) have opened a respite program for mobile children with special needs (any age). They go out in groups to movie’s, nature walks, picnics, to the beach, etc. They will be running through the winter months. They also offer weekend respite as well as day respite. 7. Samantha Rickards – (403) 285-2972. Samantha would like to offer respite services to families who have children with Special Needs. Though Samantha does not have any formal training, with children who have disabilities, she does have a 13 year old boy herself and understands some of the demands one child can have on a parent alone. Samantha also understands the need for respite in our community and is open to getting training. She would like to offer respite in her home on weekends (overnights and day time). S.W area 8. Abby Araji – (403) 285-5991. Abby would like to provide Respite care for families in their own homes. She has five years experience working with all children at daycare centers and private homes. Abby is available seven days a week she has her Level one child care certificate, First aid Certificate and CPR. She is bilingual in English and French. N.E area 9. Camelia Spiegel – (403) 244-3976. Camelia is an avid learner. She has much experience both in business and with people/persons with disabilities. Her experience is quite extended from having her Bachelors in Surveying Engineering to receiving her Home Care Attendant Certificate, Integrated Disability and Community Support Program certificate, being a Caregiver; vocational and leisure support/skills. She is looking to work with families who have children with disabilities who need support. S.W area 10. Cynthia Leippi – (403) 281-3512. Cynthia is a mother and taught elementary school for 14 years. She is currently working as a Educational Assistant and has worked with many children with many different disabilities. Cynthia has a niece with sever disabilities and understands the demands put on families and would like to support families who have children with disabilities by providing Respite services. Cynthia has her current First Aide Certificate and up dates it regularly. S.W area. 11. Deborah Davis – (403) 235-0048. Deborah has worked with teenage behavioral persons for the past 6 in-a-half years and is presently providing respite to individuals with mental delays. Deborah has extensive training in many areas related to children, adolescents and adults with Disabilities. SE area. 12. Rebecca Otoku – (403) 470-5479. Respite care and supported roommate in

Marlborough area. Rebecca is a certified personal care attendant who has worked with adults for a couple of years as well as with children with Developmental Disabilities for a year. Her house is not wheelchair accessible. N.E area. 13. Tracy Mendoza – (403) 835-0075. Tracy is the mother of a 6 year old boy with PDD/NOS. She would like to provide families with in home and community respite as she know how demanding the life of a parent of a child with special needs can be. She is a full time student at Mount Royal College. Tracy does have a car and is willing to travel to different areas of Calgary. N.E area. 14. Teresa Graup – (403) 933-5256. Teresa lives in Black Diamond area and would like to provide Respite for families in the Black Diamond/Turner Valley area. Teresa has a child with Down Syndrome and would like to help out families; any age and any diagnosis as she understands the pressures on families with a child with a disability.

Teresa has had work experience in providing childcare at a preschool and assisting a young man with Autism with day to day life skills such as cooking. 15. Alicia Zubot – (403) 255-5930. Alicia is currently attending the University of Calgary Teacher Assistance Program specializing in children who have disabilities/special needs. She is looking to provide full-time or part-time respite care/summer daytime nanny care for families who have a child with special needs, and their siblings if needed. She is available beginning the first week of July until the end of August. She has experience working with children who have cognitive, neurological and behavioural disabilities. She is inexperienced in caring for children requiring medical or mobility devices. However, if you are willing to instruct her in the use of these she is willing to learn. She has experience working in community settings with children who have Autism. Does not drive but gets around by public transit quite easily email [email protected]. Fely DeVera – (403) 670-9957 Fely has experience working with a variety of age groups in educational, daycare, and in-home child care settings. She has worked with children who have special needs such as Down Syndrome and Autism. Fely is certified in CPR and First Aide, and has a Calgary Police Clearance

They will then give you instructions on how to fill out the form. Please do keep a copy of the information for your records. As you are filling out the form, please be as specific as you can about you circumstances. By outlining times, medical needs, behavioral needs, if the child needs to be lifted, or if you would like the child taken out of the house, this allows the student and you to make a good match.
