ABSTRACT In the modern building, there is several management systems such as facility management, energy management, surveillance system… to help building manager monitor the efficiency of the building. However, most of the traditional building automations systems are not really integrated those systems together. Since those systems are isolating so the building cannot perform the best efficiency. Advantech use the WebAccess SCADA system as the integrate platform at its newest Linkou campus, to integrate those different sources of information (power, air conditioning, machine room, telephone, fire safety, surveillance etc.) and produces the intelligent controls. We found it’s not only provide the better BEMS (Building Energy Management System) result, but also build up the new Intelligent Building Eco-system business model. We help Advantech LinKou campus could be the model of integrated intelligent building management system design. Keywords: Intelligent Building Management System, WebAccess, BEMS (Building Energy Management System), Integrated intelligent building management system design Introduction Most buildings in the world are built with the involvement of a turnkey contractor that outsources projects to different electromechanical subcontractors. For example, the main power supply, backup power supply, elevators, and machine rooms are all part of the electromechanical system, but are often built by different subcontractors. Also,

the water chiller, ventilation and cooling system are all part of air conditioning, but tend to be installed by different subcontractors. By engaging different subcontractors into one system, there will inevitably be miscommunications and inconsistencies, which is why traditional building automation is run on independent sub-systems using an array of 5 to 10 monitors in the control room. Each monitor displays only one type of data and none of them can be communicated across different sub-systems. If data cannot be communicated across sub-systems, information can only be used to monitor, not control, and the lack of coordination renders a building un-intelligent. This was the reason Advantech avoided following the common practices of the architecture industry when designing Linkou Campus. All information is required to be stored on one database to facilitate cross-system reference. This was what made intelligent control possible. To achieve this objective, Advantech spared no expense and developed a fully integrated ibuilding interface, WebAccess, which takes input from different sources of information (power, air conditioning, machine room, telephone, fire safety, surveillance etc.) and produces the following intelligent controls: For example, when the concentration level of CO2 exceeds the normal limit for indoors, the system will draw in outside air to dilute the CO2. When there is too much glare from the sun, the system will lower the blinds automatically to lower the indoor temperature. When humidity rises, the system will increase air flow to reduce

Context 1. Design Concept Advantech's corporate philosophy is: company is a member of society; it should not be isolated from society. As part of the Company's mission to "integrate with society", the campus does not use fences to separate itself from the outside world, but instead offers open, green spaces and welcomes neighbors into our pleasant landscape.

Furthermore, Advantech believes that "humble learning" is the foundation of corporate growth, which is why its founder has specifically requested to design a park which resembled a campus. The building's exterior used large quantities of brick-like material to resemble the appearance of a campus. The building is divided into two main sections, an exhibition section and the office section. The exhibition section, which is open to the public, is located on the lower floors, whereas the offices are situated on higher floors to allow greater privacy and secrecy. By incorporating design ideas such as layered brick walls, fair-faced concrete, steel material, deep windowsill, LOW-E glass, and vertical sun shades, we not only brought an unique appearance to our building, but also maximized the use of floor space and window openings in ways that reduce the building's heat exposure.

Once phase II & III completed, Advantech Campus will be able to satisfy the requirements for a diamond-grade smart building and gold-grade green building, and it will be Taiwan's first smart green building to meet both standards.

The LinKou Campus Integrated System Design Highlights.

Target The campus was designed with the intention of having a high degree of automation and low manpower; it requires only 8 maintenance administrative staff to maintain over 33,700 square meters of floor space (3 in public works, 2 at front counter, and 2 security guards per shift). Compared to the 14 administrative staff needed to service 20,000 square meters of floor space at Neihu Building, the park requires nearly 40% lesser manpower. 4. Achievement The building adopts intelligent controls that allow continuous improvements of management effectiveness. In terms of energy management, compared to 2014, the building was able to save 17.7% on energy consumption in 2015 after one year of trial and error. The building is estimated to save 430,000 kWh of electricity for the entire 2015 calendar year, reducing cost by NT$1.51 million and carbon emission by 2,732 tons. 1.

The central control system is set automatically take in outside air to dilute the concentration level of hazardous gases: A. CO2 over 650ppm, B. CO over 0.1ppm, C. HCHO over 0.01ppm, no reduction in insurance premiums Building is entirely occupied by the owner, no employee survey was conducted

The Energy Saving & Efficiency Improve for LinKou Campus.

Conclusions Advantech has invited many of its customers, business partners, and building administrators from other buildings to tour the facility. Many of the building administrators were amazed at how well Advantech was able to implement building automation. Apart from building automation, what they admired the most was Advantech's WebAccess, a central system that controlled all sub-systems for the purposes of reducing staff and security guards deployed throughout the building. For this reason, many of our guests have requested Advantech to make WebAccess compatible with different systems (power supply, air conditioning, fire safety, information, etc.), so that the system can be implemented in their buildings. Through our interactions with outside parties, we learned that: Not every building in the world require the same level of automation as Advantech Linkou Campus; however, having all information available on a unified platform is something that every building needs, not just smart buildings.

Imagine, if a building's information can be integrated into a unified platform, a small team of security guards would be able to ensure security and fire safety of the building, and provide reception services to visitors all within the lobby, thereby reducing the size of employees and cut back unnecessary energy consumption. Under the invitation of our visitors, Advantech started to offer technical assistances from hardware and software integration (interfaced using WebAccess), to training courses that helped building administrators master this powerful software. Some visitors even engaged detailed discussions with Advantech about solution designs, and offered to purchase the complete solution package from Advantech, which was not expected.

Advantech welcomes customers who wish to purchase our products, but we would like to remind building owners the following: The reason why Advantech Linkou Campus was able to successfully deliver, improve, and achieve beyond its original goals, was largely attributed to the team members.
